Just missing and remembering David. He lived an incredible life, being a witness to all of God's unending love.

I'm thankful for God's promise of comfort:
"You keep track of all my sorrows.
You have collected all my tears in your bottle.
You have recorded each one in your book."
Ps. 56:8

Till we see you again, Friend.

Hello,
We would like to express our deepest condolences and also let the Hart Family and friends know that we will be sending Care Packages to troops in Afghanistan this week and we'll be dedicating several of these to your loved one. Each package will carry the name, photo and the hometown of David J. Hart US Army Sergeant. We realize that this is a small tribute, but we do this with all respect and sincerity and we want you to know that it is made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals from across the American youth hockey community. We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you strong.
Sincerely,

The Wind on The Downs

“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”

(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )

Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….

“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”

I did not know David, but I am remembering
his service and sacrifice. He is my hero. !

The Other Side

i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.

can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.

i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side

the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

It has been a year to the day. I was there, I fought with David, Ivan, and Phillip on this day. It was the hardest fought firefight we had ever seen. The five of us were greatly outnumbered, but we gave it our all. David came in to help Phillip. That was the kind of person he was. He was more worried about the life of his soldiers than his own. I am proud to have fought with him. I was severly injured and was flown out with David. I was the last person to see him alive, and the last to say good bye. It will never be an easy day for me again. He was a great person.

I have been thinking alot about David, and the kind of person he was, and wanted to write to his family and tell them that he was a great American and a role model for us all. I was once called from a field problem to go see my sick son and he told me he would pray for him and I. I have never had anyone say that to me, and it had a lasting effect. It was an honor to know him,

To an Amazing Son in-law

As we remember those that are lost on this day 9/11. I realize that it was on that day that changed all our lives. As you later knew your calling from God was to fight for our freedom along side other American Men and Women and make the ultimate sacrifice for us all. Thank you seems so small. You are so amazing and you touched so many lives and changed them for the better. You are a blessing to all who knew you. You left a warm and positive impact to all who came in contact with you no matter how brief. You were always willing to reach out to other. Always willing to reach out to strangers just to give a warm hug and make others feel special. Always coming up with jokes that would lift up anyone's spirit. I never met anyone like you! Then its the special love and marriage that you and Nicole have which is something I have never seen before. Its so special, so amazing, so inspiring. Your Love for each other is so strong, its forever. I have to say Sgt. David J. Hart that your life has inspired me so much to do more. Something that counts. I know we will one day be all together again.
We love you!

Wow, even a few months later it's still hard to believe you're gone. I remember when we were in youth group together and I was this scared little seventh grader that was assigned to work with you on a booth for the Fall Fun Fest and I was starving and didn't have any money for food, so you gave me your sandwhich. The little things in life do make a difference. I'm going to miss you.

Happy Birthday David!

I can only imagine what it might be like in heaven and yet even if I think of the most wonderful thoughts possible in my mind, it can't come close to the beauty and joy you must be feeling in Gods presence. Our minds can't comprehend all that God has for us.
We love you very much and we long for the day we see you again! The day we go home too! I want to see your crown! For now, we will love, pray and watch over your most treasured gift you had from God, Your Wife Nicole! You gave your life to God and allowed him to write God's Love story in your life. It is beautiful and it will always will be a story that will touch others. I am talking about how it started and the life you had with Nicole. The shortness is still hard to understand. But there is a great LOVE STORY that GOD wrote in your life and few find it! like you, It is strong!

PS I also think of you running through the streets of gold! Keeping the Angel's busy Im sure! Cant help smiling at the thought of that.
We Love you!

Missing you,

I can't begin say how overwhelmed with pride I am to have known David. he was one tough dude. I remember playing army as kids, hiking through the mountains with Niko, serving with YWAM, or even way back when we used to play the saxophone's in the living room of his old house. We always had a good time. Few people could bring out a laugh as quickly as David.
I know I haven't been able to keep in touch in the last few years since we joined different services. But in my heart I know how David served. I wish now I could have been there with him. what an honor that would have been. David and Daniel were my best friends growing up, and examples to me of what it's like to have a brother. I see David's picture now and I'm brought close to tears. but only for a moment. Sorrow is quickly overcome by pride. Pride from having seen, known, and been involved in the life that created David, a true warrior, a true friend and a true man after God's own heart. Your were always faster then me it looks like you beat me to the finish line again David, I can't wait to see you again.

As I was going through this site Davids smile jumped out at me as I read the pages and seen that he lived his life for Christ I then realized the beautiful smile came from deep within him and it was a genuine one. I want to thank all of his family for loaning this angel to us to fight for our FREEDOM.You know God works in mysterious ways and we are not to question why but we do wonder. Whenever the sun is the brightest just think of him smiling down from his heavenly home above. Friends in Christ. Mary Jo

And I don’t even know if it’s allowed.

But I salute you; allow me the honor

Dear David,

Its about 10:00 pm Saturday night on March 8th and I have started to write this to you so many times. Now 2 months have passed and It still hurts so much. You are missed in this family! You were an amazing Husband to our daughter Nicole. Most people never get to experience the kind of Love that you had for one another. It started as friends and grew to best friends. God brought her an amazing and loving Husband that loved God and that was all we ever wanted for her to find. But we never imagined it would be so brief. You were an answer to our prayers that started long before we ever met you. Nicole must have been about 10 when Ramiro and I started praying for the boy that would someday be her husband. A boy we had not yet met but we knew that God had a special boy in mind and we lifted up our prayer to God for the boy that would grow to be a man after Gods own heart…. A special Man that God would bring to Nicole that would love her with all his heart. It was you! When God brought you both together on your wedding day, we had no doubts from that day on that Nicole was exactly where she was suppose to be. From that day on we never had to worry if you loved her, because it showed in all that you did. We never had to worry if you would make her happy, because we seen the sparkle in her eyes every time she looked at you. We never had to worry if you would protect her, because you always did. Just as you lived and died to protect not just your family but your soldiers, friends and country as you obeyed God and joined the army. Always, there for others no matter the cost. We will never forget the huge sacrifice you made. We will never forget your smile….Your humor…Your passion for the things you believed in. I will always remember the way you brought comforting words and a warm smile and a much needed hug during the hardest time in my own life after the loss of our babies Jasmine and Kevin. It meant so much to me, more then you know. I know you are with them and giving them your huge smile and hugs! They are enjoying you now. But we miss you so much! We will not forget how you lit up our home and our hearts! Thank you for showing us all what real “Love” looks like. I look forward to seeing your smile, getting a hug and hearing you sing again! Thank you for leaving us such wonderful and loving memories that we will treasure until we see you again.
Thank you David for being a blessing to us all.
We love you!

My Love,

It’s been a month now since I’ve last heard your voice… My heart aches for you every morning and I long to hear you tell me everything is going to be ok. I don’t know what feels more like a dream… that I had you or that you’re gone. I miss you, David. Since we were teenagers we’ve had to “wait” for each other… for one reason or another, one of us was usually waiting for the other… it was worth it, love. I regret nothing about us! You’re the love of my life and my very best friend! You left me with nothing but amazing memories!! Thank you, My Husband, for loving me so passionately... For challenging me… For teaching me… and for always putting me first. Thank you, for choosing me to be your wife. I’m so proud of you, David. I promise to tell your story… I won’t let anyone forget. I hope I can make you proud of the way I’ll face the future and carry on. I’ll see you soon, MY LOVE!!

David loved wholeheartedly, and gave sacrificially. I am so thankful to have had the privilege of knowing him. Not many can say they have left such a lasting impression on the hearts and lives of others the way in which David did. He inspired, he led, and he lived a life that brought glory to God and joy to those around him. He was faithful in what he was given, caring for others, above himself, loving deeply, from the heart. His life will continue to inspire, for the memory of this amazing young man will not fade but be in our hearts always.
Matthew 25:21

David is well remembered, with a warm-hearted fondness that I cannot express with mere words. In his growing-up years that I knew David, I always noted that he really liked to have fun. He made a major effort to get everyone around him to enter in to that special moment of fun that was right there in front of us. Sometimes I would think that David would probably "out-grow" that "phase" and become more serious about life (kinda' like some of the rest of us.) You know, he DID grow-up, and he DID have serious moments; but he never seemed to lose that part of him that kept him fun-loving and full of the life that encouraged each of us around him to really have a good time in that "here-and-now moment" was right in front of our face (the time that we can immediately enjoy -- the moments that we will savor in our memories as some of the moments that make our life truly "rich - full - and worth living".)
I'm glad that David never seemed to lose that ability to be spontaneously joyful and happy -- just because it made the moment rich and wonderful; because in doing so, he also helped US be full of life.
Yes, he was serious at times - but mostly in his expressions of love and sincerity and in speaking of things that showed that he had a good grasp on understanding the deeper issues of life. He certainly displayed his maturity and wisdom in those moments. -- Then he would top it off with some spontaneous expression of his fun-loving nature -- one that would help us to remember to smile at and to enjoy-fully even the serious moments of life.
I retain a deep love for David in my memory and heart. I'm looking forward to being reunited with him, some day, in that place called "heaven" -- a place where he had a sure confidence that he would go some day, because he continually loved and trusted God -- a place where I'm sure that he has heard, from somebody REALLY IMPORTANT, these words: "Well-done good and faithful servant. Enter into the joy of your Lord."

My regards to you all - especially those who also share your own fond and heart-felt memories of this really good man, David Hart.

"David Hart was a very unique young man, especially in our current youth culture. David's heart for the Lord was evident from the time I met him, when he was about 12 years old. He had such a dry, witty sense of humor that kept everyone laughing, but also at ease, because he included everyone in his circle. He never failed to honor his Lord, whether being comical or working hard on a mission’s trip, or major ministry production. David was the kind or person that made all around him feel important, as he never demanded center stage, for he enjoyed others being honored more than himself. I'm sure that is only one of the reasons why his dear wife Nicole was drawn to him and loved him deeply. He brought that same selfless love and desire into his marriage, and even into the Army, and the way he treated his men. I know that when we lose someone we love dearly, that we can tend to exaggerate their life's giftings and behavior; but with David, I don't believe anyone could, or would need to exaggerate. He was and is the real deal. As a Pastor for over 30 years, I've experienced every kind of character and personality, and I am blessed to say, David Hart touched my life, and the life of this church family more powerfully than anyone twice his age ever has. I will truly look forward to seeing David again alongside our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, when it is my time to say goodbye here, and hello there!"

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.

Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.

I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

I would also like to tell you about a website, http://groups.msn.com/SSPSoldierPor
traits/homepage,
where some wonderful people will make wood portraits of your fallen Hero for free for the immediate family. I became aware of this site when I wanted to do something special for Le Ron’s mother.

Before I ever met David, the words my husband used to describe him were "the guy who always put others before himself." And now, his sacrifice for our nation only confirms his amazing heart. To Dave's family and Nicole, I wish somehow there was more I could give or do for you than prayer. But know that I will not stop praying. David's smile and joy are etched in my memory. He will not be forgotten, nor the impact he made on my husband's heart...

Thank you Lord for giving me the honor of knowing, even if not for long, a man who walked so beautifully with you. Till we see you in Heaven friend...

We are so thankful for the sacrifice that David so willingly gave. We are grateful for the testimony of a man who was obedient to God's call on his life, even unto death. What an example of faith for us and for our children. We will miss seeing David, but we are so thankful that we will see him again rejoicing in the presence of Jesus. Thank you for allowing our children to know a true American hero, and to have a small part in blessing David before he went home to our Lord. David and his sacrifice will not be forgotten, and we pray that his testimony of faith continues to bring many to the Lord.

May God give you peace that passes our understanding. May you feel God's loving arms surround you. David truly fought the good fight, finished the race, and remained faithful.

Love and blessings to you all.

Nicole, Jack, Sherry, Sarah & Daniel,
I have no words and am in shock, I remember David as a young boy and am so proud of the man he has grown into. My heart is so sad. He died for our freedom, He died for this country, He lives forevermore with our Saviour, we shall have an awesome reunion one day.

Blessings,

Dennis

Nicole, Jack, Sherry, Sarah, and Daniel.

No words can express my sorrow at the news about David. I know there is nothing that can be said that can take away the pain but I want you all to know that my prayers are and will continue to be with you in the days ahead. You can be so proud of the young man David grew up to be. He was obviously much loved and much respected and those around him were obviously able to see Jesus in him. He walked the walk and was a light to many. I pray that our God will comfort you and surround you with His peace daily.
