Uncle Bobby you meant the world to me. You are not the "fallen" you always lit up the room when you walked in, you make all our lives more comfotable and happy. Im proud to call you my uncle. You died doing what you loved most and I respect you for that. I cant stop listening to "rita" by Bebo Norman because it just reminds me so much of you, by far that is not a sad thing. I love you so much, along with Margo and Chelsea. I promise you this, and whoever reads this, he was loved not only by me his niece but everyone who knew him.

The Final Salute
“Brothers in Arms”, Military men and women down through the centuries, have traditionally exchanged “Hand Salutes” as a sign of recognition and as a way to render courtesy and respect one to another.
This “Hand Salute” is the last that we shall render to Maj. Robert Lindenau our Brother in Arms. To his family it symbolizes the love and respect that we have for Robert. And to Robert it is rendered as a symbol of honor and gratitude to thank him for the ultimate sacrifice he made in combat while serving the U.S. Army and his country. No greater love is shown than a man lay down his life for another. Robert, you are a brave Warrior, a true Patriot and a national Hero. With your passing, our Country has lost a National Treasure. We bid you a sad farewell. You will be dearly missed from among our ranks. Be at ease. Rest in Peace.
On behalf of the 1,409 members of Lowe-McFarlane Post 14 of the American Legion in Shreveport, Louisiana, I extend our sympathies and our condolences to Robert’s family and loved ones.

To the Lindenau family,
I know there are no words to say, except how sorry I am for your loss. May you hold Roberts' memory in your heart and please remember he shall never be forgotten.
...For you every single soldier
Those who served so honorable
Your life was forever altered
While I’m home safe and free
I stand with grateful admiration
I stand respectful and so proud
I know I’m only a civilian
And I don’t even know if it’s allowed.
But I salute you; allow me the honor
to salute you with permission let me say
Even though I hold no rank know that from my heart
My humble gratitude comes from the deepest part.
I salute you.

Tonya,
You and your family are in our prayers. I served with Bob in 1-37 FA at Fort Lewis. He was one of the first officers I met upon my arrival prior to our deployment to Iraq (2003-2004). I always remember him as a well rounded officer and overall good person. He always expressed his feeling of caring for those under dire situations. He will be greatly missed.
Respectfully,
MAJ Elvis Coronado and family (Kim, Zachary, Jonathan, and Isabelle)

Tonya and family (especially the kids),
I want you to know that people all over America are praying for you at this time! What your husband/father has done giving up his life in the most noblest way, serving and protecting our freedoms is a testament to what a great man he is.
I knew Bob in high school and he was one of the sweetest and most caring guys I knew. At our 20 year reunion last year his name came up as one of those people we would love to see again. Sadly that will not be the case in this lifetime, but I do look forward to seeing him in Heaven. I know he will watch over you.
I was truly touched by the photos posted of him with the children he served in Afghanistan. His warm loving smile and kind eyes sparkling spoke volumes of the love he had for them as well.
He truly is a hero and will be greatly missed!
God Bless!

I notice the American flag at half mass when I walked into the school where I work this morning , my heart sank and my eyes filled as I knew another soldier must have given the ultimate sacrifice for our country even with all the prays from home to protect our faithful soldiers. The heartbreak of his loving family now left without him to hold. I did not know Major Lindenau but send my deepest sympathy and many heartfelt prayers to his family and friends. May his memory stay clear and sharp forever in your hearts. May the Lord's love shine upon you.

Bob, you have not only enriched the lives of so many people, but you have been a huge part of twenty years of my life, starting with your words "do you want to be a roommate?" (WSU, 1988). Ever since then I have enjoyed the deep friendship of a great musician, devout husband and most loyal friend, who did everything from music, hunting, karate, learning languages, caring for people in the war zones and here with such a profound hunger and commitment.
I will deeply miss your instant messages, beginning with "Buzz!" that you sent me from Iraq and Afghanistan. You have given this country your ultimate sacrifice, but you have left a deep void in my life. Please, brother -wait up for me in heaven!

Tonya, I am so sorry to hear of your tragic loss. May you and your children find strength and comfort in knowing the entire military community truly understands all the "behind-the-scenes" sacrifices military families make every day while their loved ones are putting their lives on the line for our country. I am sure your husband touched many lives in his career and made life so much better for more people than we will ever know. Thank you for all you've done in support of your husband and family. May God give you strength and courage as you face the road ahead.
