Hello,
We realize that we are very late to express our deepest condolences, but we wanted to let your family and friends know that we will be sending Care Packages to deployed troops this month and several of these will be dedicated to your loved one. Each package will carry the name, photo and hometown of Kevin B. Joyce US Marine Lance Corporal.
We realize that this is a small tribute, but we do this with all respect and sincerity and we want you to know that it is made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals from across the American youth hockey community, their families and friends and others who support our mission.
We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you safe and strong.
Sincerely,
Charlie Gili & Family

Kevin and Mother(Effelita)
George Family
April 5, 2011
On February 28th, 2011,a reunion occurred in heaven of the sweetest and most joyful kind. Our beloved sister Effelita(Kevin's mother),passed away. What a reunion it must have been when she met Kevin. While she cherishes each moment by his side, we are confident they are looking over us hoping this happiness will lessen our pain. Although we miss them terribly and will long for them with deepest grief, we are reminded that love is more powerful than death, and we too shall meet up with them in heaven one day. What a family reunion it'll be!
On behalf of the George Family, I would like to extend my gratitude to all those that have supported my sister and family through prayer and words of encouragement. God Bless each and everyone.~Love you~

I knew Lcpl Joyce from the school of infantry. We were both in delta co. I remember talking to him and him always smiling. I used to joke around quite a bit and he always laughed.Every sunday when we had to report back in from liberty I would show up early and he would always be wearing his green military shirt with basketball shorts. Me and a lot of the other marines would come to him when we got a MRE we didnt like in order to trade him for a better tasting one. His wall locker was stacked with main meals from all the MRE's he didnt eat. He was a really good guy as well as a marine. I will never forget him. I was supposed to go to 2/3, but because I was married I was sent to another unit. I wish I could have got to known him better.

I just want to say Kevin was a good person and I never got the chance to thank Kevin for being courageous enough to join the Marines and serve our country the last time I seen him. I went to school with him in Joseph City, he may have been quiet but he had a funny sense of humor that kept me amused in class and we shared acouple of laughs. He was truly a beautiful person, and me and my friends called him Pretty Boy he was by far the nicest dressed at our school. God Bless You Kevin and The Joyce Family.

Thank you, for remembering our hero (our son) Kevin. Thank you for honoring him by visiting his Legacy book and thank you for your kind words. It is also in your gestures and words we still find comfort and continue to heal. There is not a day that goes by that we are not reminded of him. Our hearts and prayers go out to his platoon, and all members of the armed services, for the sacrifices that were made to protect and serve, for this I Thank you. My prayers and thoughts go out today, especially for our sister. Today is the day that the Lord blessed us with an Angel, Kevin. Happy Birthday Kevin!

My name is GySgt Jurado and I was LCpl Joyce's PltSgt. It's been over four years since 1stPlt E.Co 2/3 deployed to Camp Blessing. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't remember him. I had the honor of meeting his family upon returning to Oahu after the deployment and they were some of the nicest people I have ever met. He was a true Warrior.

I received a hero bracelet today in Kevin's honor. I hope to honor him by wearing it with pride in his memory. From reading the other entries I can see that Kevin was an amazing young man. It saddens me greatly that I got to know him in this way. I know his family is proud of him and his service. I know that our country is proud of his service. I will tell his story when anyone asks what my bracelet means. I'm a teacher and I've known many kids over the years. I wish I could have known Kevin. My school has a relationship with the Rough Rock community in the Dine Nation. Kevin, his family and the Dine Nation have given so so much to this country. I make sure every child in my class learns about the debt we all owe the Navajo people. Thank you Kevin. I know you are at peace. We'll meet one day by-and-by.

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.
The Wind on The Downs
“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”
(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )
Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….
“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”
I did not know Kevin, but I am remembering
his service. He is my hero. !

The Other Side
i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.
can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.
i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.
it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side
the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.
Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.
I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON (KIA on 07/06/07) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

I knew Kevin Joyce from the DEP program back in 2004. I saw him every month till the last pool meeting at Flagstaff. On MCRD San Diego I saw Kevin twice. First time I was at medical and he had just come back from Edison Range on Camp Pendleton. The last time I saw him was 2 days before he was to graduate. I was at the chow hall and he said that his family was already in San Diego and he was ready to see them. I wish I could have seen him again, like the other many poolees now Marines. I pray for his family and hope his family and friends cherish the legacy he has left. Being Navajo and a Marine. Live the good life, fight the good fight. Semper Fi.

I went to bootcamp with LCpl Joyce plt. 3085. I remember him like it was yesterday. He was quite at first but when the drill instructors were not around he always had me laughing. He was a great person and i know he made a great Marine. I will never forget the memories and the brothership we shared throughout bootcamp.

I am Gunnery Sergeant Dolan. I was the Senior Drill Instructor for Platoon 3085, which LCpl Joyce graduated from. 3085 broke the Regimental Record for "high" Physical Fitness Test score and we came close to breaking the Rifle Range record, too. I vividly remember LCpl Joyce. He would always look me directly in the eye when we spoke. He was a very honest young man and possessed a lot of courage. As a Senior Drill Instructor/Drill Instructor you go through so much with these young men in three months of boot camp. With all the ups and downs it is amazing how well you get to know them - and how close you become with them. As we progressed through the training cycle we became a family. The Drill Instructors and I took 3085 down some very long days filled with pain. In the end, the young men in 3085 came out on top. I was very proud to have served with LCpl Joyce. I am very sorry for your loss. LCpl Joyce was amongst the best. He is missed and his contribution to our Nation and Marine Corps will not be forgotten.
God Bless you all.

Kevin always talked about being in the Marines. He liked adventure and that was one of the reasons he joined the Marines. It was his destiny to be a warrior. He died doing what he loved, being in the Marines defending his country. Kevin loved his family. He had a large extended family like most Navajos. The family enjoyed his positive energy, adventureous spirit and willingness to help people. I will always love him. Thank you for your nice words about him and thank you for your prayers for the family. May You Always Walk in Beauty.

Your son inspired me to write these words:
Independence day, a day we celebrate our freedom and liberties. Half of myself celebrates and the other half mourns. Today, I had the honor and privilege of being a body bearer. I was reminded that freedom is not free, but comes with an extremely high cost. The bible says “Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends.” Today we share in sorrow with all who gave of themselves the ultimate sacrifice. There are no words to truly express the gratitude deserved by those who shed their blood. So how do we as Marines console one another, by continuing the fight and wining and not allow terrorism a place of sanctuary or rest! There scarifies only strengthen our resolve to fight and win. Today is a day of reverence. There are many Mothers and Wives that have heard these words; "On behalf of the President of the United States, the Commandant of the United States Marine Corps, and a grateful Nation, please accept this flag as a symbol of our appreciation of your (son/husband) service to Country and Corps." Never forget it…..
