Larry and I first met at Ft Sill when were called up from the IRR. We trained up for three months from Ft sill to Ft Sam Houston to Camp Roberts and final at Ft Bragg.
I was stationed in Baghdad and Larry was in Taji. I travelled to Taji for missions numerous times and would see Larry sometimes. I was in Taji on a mission with Larry the Thursday before. I saw he had some small injuries from an IED recently. I told him to be careful, we didn't need any more heroes.
Our mission was successful and Larry gave me a beany baby for my daughter that he briefly met Kelly and Mother Jennifer at our single day off at Ft Bragg before we deployed.
I dusted off for Baghdad and that was the last time I saw Larry.
He will be very much missed and he truly is a hero.

As five years approach I realize how much I miss Larry's late night phone calls; him checking on me, making sure I was OK and letting me know he was OK too. Talking about when we were kids and laughing about the silly stuff; remembering Mom and missing her like crazy. I'm lucky to have had him in my life and I'll always be proud of him. It is so wonderful to know that good-byes here are temporary...all of us will be together in the end...just as God intended. That makes me happy.

In Memory of Lawrence ~ (Debra Estep)
September 19, 2008
Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.
The Wind on The Downs
“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”
(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )
Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….
“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”
I did not know Lawrence, but I am remembering
his service. He is my hero. !

The Other Side
i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.
can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.
i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.
it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side
the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

If this person can stand in battle to ensure my freedom, then I will stand in grief with his/her family to honor him/her. For every fallen HERO there is a bright star that shines in the evening sky to remind us of the cherished gift we were given – even if for too short a time.
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courageous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guest book for the rest of my life, but I promised LE RON A. WILSON (a dear friend KIA 7/6/07, 18yrs old) that neither he nor any like him would be forgotten and so I will continue until the day there is no longer the need.

To the family and friends of Sgt 1st Class Lawrence E Morrison
I extend to you my deepest condolences. No words will ever express the grief those close to this lost treasure are feeling. I can only say that I can share this grief as I too lost a loved one last month. I will continue to pray for the safety of our soldiers and especially the family and friends of our lost hero’s. I only hope the memories will carry us through. I will continue and pray that you also will believe and know that our heavenly father will not give us more than we can handle.
As always I read through the memorials, So many people have already expressed the things I would also say. I take comfort that so many people care. I can only thank you for the sacrifice you and especially Lawrence have made to protect our country. As others have said “I am only an email away.” I would be honored if you so choose to share about this fine man.
Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28

I am a proud member of the 490th Civil Affairs unit, and served with SFC Morrison. He was my next door neighbor here. I didn't know him long, but in the time I did, I really liked him. He was a very good soldier and I really liked working with him. I want to tell his family that I am sorry for their loss. He was a great guy and he is missed very much. My deepest sympathies to the Morrison family. Oh yeah....Larry Jr...AIRBORNE!!!

To the Family of Lawrence Morrison
We are a military family.
My husband and 3 of our sons have served in the military. They are all proud to have served their country.
We are so sorry for your family, to have lost your loved one.
Lawrence was a part of our family also. He is my husbands nephew.
We were traveling all over the world, so our paths never crossed, while our children were growing up, so they never really got to know each other. (such a shame).
Our hearts go out to each and every one of the family.

To Mr. Kenny Morrison and family,
I wish to express my profound sympathy for the loss of your son. He was my cousin, and tho we barely knew each other, I will always think of him as a brother since our careers were very similar and he was a fellow Soldier/Marine.
I vow to everyday say a prayer for our fallen soldiers and for those still fighting so that they may someday soon come home safe and in good health to rejoin their families. For Larry and his fallen brethren, Always Faithful!
For Larry's family, know I am proud of him and value his sacrifice as a true hero and patriot! His life was not lost in vain and one day history will be changed for the better because of what he has had the courage to do.
All our prayers and love,
Bobby and Jackie Morrison

Even though we have never met, I wanted to share a poem with you.
You see I lost my only son when he was one month away from his 22nd birthday. That was in 1980. I know the pain and the sorrow that you feel.
I know in time the awful hurting inside of you will heal. I know right now it’s hard to Imagine that life can even go on. I can’t imagine anything worse then losing a child.
I am a Christian and I know that God’s strength saw me and my husband through. There were many days we just didn’t want to go on, but He was always there to help us.
I hope you will not take offence by receiving this. I only mean it to help and
let you know that I care. I will keep you in my prayers.
May God bless you in a very special way, as He took a very special person from this world to be with Him. I thank God every day for men like your son who are willing to fight for our freedom and the freedom of oppressed nations. I know Lawrence has made a difference in every life he has touched.
Remember, John 3:16 says “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should nor perish but have everlasting life.”
At Death of a Child
“I’ll lend you for a little while
A child of mine,” He said.
“For you to love the while he lives
And mourn when he is dead.
It may be six or seven years, or
Twenty two or three,
But will you ’til I call him back,
Take care of him for Me?
He’ll bring his charms to gladden you,
And should his days be brief,
You’ll have his lovely memories
As solace for your grief.
I cannot promise he will stay,
Since all from earth return,
But there are lessons taught down there
I want this child to learn.
I’ve looked this wide world over
In my search for teachers true,
And from the throngs that crowd life’s lane,
I have selected you.
Now will you give all your love,
Nor think the labor vain,
Nor hate me when I come to call
To take him back again?”
I fancy that I heard them say,
“Dear Lord, Thy will be done.
For all the joy this child shall bring,
The risk of grief we’ll run;
We’ll shelter him with tenderness,
We’ll love him while we may,
And for the happiness we’ve known
Forever grateful stay.
But should the angels call for him,
Much sooner then we’ve planned,
We’ll brave the bitter grief that comes
And try to understand.”
