It's odd how often you pop into my head at random times. I read the comments of the family and friends that loved you and I think how even though we weren't that close in high school, your personality and sense of humor made an impact on me. You were such a great person Bobby. I hope you are doing well up there.

I think about you almost daily Bob...I remember me and you running Ft Knox reception company, becoming real close, you went to the Bravo Bulldogs and I was a Charlie Commanche...we stayed in contact and I wish we would have had more time together...when me and Nate found out you were at Stryker right next to us we couldn't believe it and I remember meeting up for food at the DFAC, weeks went by and we didn't see you or hear from you...then as I sat in Baghdad reading the Army Times I read the unthinkable...I'm so sorry that you had to leave behind your wife + son that you were so excited to get home to and all of your family whom I never met, yet heard so much about, you were a proud family man that made the ultimate, untimely sacrifice...I pray for your family all the time as even though I have been effected daily by this, I don't have 1-100th of the pain that they feel by your abscense...I remember me and you belting the "Army Song" at the top of our lungs and guiding the new arrivals on how to survive in our "reception pergatory" lol...wish I would have made that trip to NY we had talked about...well sorry I've never visited this page before and it's hard to think about the war, love you Bobby and will never forget you, give me a sign brotha man...God bless and may peace find all who have been effected by these tragic wars...never forget

Hey Bobby,
I find myself thinking about you a lot at random times. Hoping you're ok and smiling down on everyone. It's hard to imagine that someone as kind, sincere, and loving as you is gone from this world, and the monsters who plague society are still free to torment those of us who remain. While I never had the pleasure of sitting down with you after HS, I miss the opportunities we could of had as real friends. I hope your okay up there though bud. Maybe one day we can grab a beer.

Almost another year down buddy. Another year down and I still can't believe you're gone. What I would give to have another few minutes with you. I have the article from Newsday about everything. I keep it in a steel box in my bedroom, so I can always remember what a sacrifice you have made and that when times get rough, I should try and be at least half the humanitarian and example that you were. I find my thoughts often going to Lynnea and Dylan and wonder how they are doing. I'm sure you're looking down on them and have surrounded them with love and support when you can. I miss ya bro.

Bobby,
What can I say to try and explain why it's taken me so long to write here. How I sit here and try to explain to myself time after time that while you and I were never close I'm blinded by tears and numb from a pain in my chest every time I come to this website. Your passing shocked me to my core and I can look back and remember the times we shared in high school. We didn't have any classes together, we didnt have the same friends, but somehow the news of your passing hurt me so much it has taken me this long to write this here.
I look back through the pages of this memorial and the tears just don't stop. The pain from Lynnea and your family and friends is truly over whelming. The pain is only shadowed by the love and support of the so many who had the courage to post here years before I did. Izzy's message really stood out to me because I could relate so well to the feelings he felt.
I never knew you as well as half the people on here. The few times we talked or joked around was enough to touch my heart in a way that I still can't explain. I can only picture you in heaven right now laughing up a storm while I write this. Maybe years ago, I would have taken offense to that but now... thats fine with me buddy. May God bless you and your family always. Your sacrifice will never be forgotten and I will never forget you.

Bobby,
I was back home on the Island for the first time in many years recently with my band. We were joined by many of your friends and family, and for the first time I got to present our tribute song to you, One Last Round. When I mentioned your name introducing the song, everyone cheered loudly. It was quite a moment...your Aunt Audrey had tears in her eyes when she heard the reaction. It goes to show that you will not be forgotten by any of us. Next week, I am acheiving somewhat of a personal dream in releasing a full-length CD. As stated in the liner notes of the booklet, the CD is dedicated to you. I'm going to send your family a copy of it. Its my own personal way of paying tribute to someone I was proud to have grown up with and called a friend.
In Memory of Robert ~ (Debra Estep)
November 8, 2008
Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.
The Wind on The Downs
“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”
(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )
Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….
“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”
I did not know Robert, but I am remembering
his service and sacrifice. He is my hero. !

The Other Side
i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.
can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.
i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.
it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side
the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

A soldier called his Dad today and asked if he would come
His Father answered right away, I‘ll be there for you son
This journey took him far away, his family he would miss
A little girl and a beautiful wife, no longer could he kiss
The soldier opened up the door and his Father stepped right in
This soldier stood there proud and tall, his Father had a grin
His Mom was taken by surprise and sadness struck her heart
The vows they took, meant forever -never would they part
Now, her men will stand beside her – guiding her along
They shower her with love, they teach her to be strong
A power of love in families reaches way beyond what’s seen
For their love can pass right to the heart with just a whisper or a dream.
God Bless You

Oh all the money that e'er I had, I spent it in good company
And all the harm that e'er I've done, alas, it was to none but me
And all I've done for want of wit to memory now I can't recall
So fill to me the parting glass, good night and joy be with you all
Oh all the comrades that e'er I've had, they are sorry for my going away
And all the sweethearts that e'er I've had, they would wish me one more day to stay
But since it falls unto my lot that I should rise and you should not
I'll gently rise and I'll softly call good night and joy be with you all
