I was there in Bayji when Thomas died. I actually had guard with him not long before it happend, please forgive me for not being able to do more, i didnt see it coming, no one did. Pvt. Siekert was a man that I had a responsibility to protect in more ways then one and i failed and subsequently have carried that burden, he was agood person and deserved more, Im sorry,so sorry. He lies now in heaven, burried in the sacred ground of warriors, untill I meet him again, he is never far from my thoughts. To his family, Im truly sory.

Thomas, I was thinking about you on Memorial Day; much like I do every time I hear the national anthem play.
Thanks for touching so many lives and enriching the world with your smile. It seems like so long ago when we were kids in lovelock just goofing off and enjoying life. Know that you'll never be forgotten.

Thomas, time has past, babies have been born, time goes on...but some things will not change, I think of you often and believe that you are near. You, Margaret and Grandma are all together watching over all of us, Tyler, your Dad, Jaime and his new little baby girl, (you knew her before we did) Robert and all your aunts and uncles...we love you so very much and know God lives, that you are with Him and we all will be together forever someday. Til then, Aunt Dolores

I can still picture the smile on Thomas' face everyday when I walked into the classroom. He could make anyone's day better just by his smile. And at lunch, he was always willing to share his pizza with anyone. He was such a good person and still missed very much today. I remember the day he came back and he wanted to surprise his brother and take him to lunch. I walked him down to the class his brother was in and Tyler was so excited to see him. You could see how much he looked up to Thomas. Thomas was a great friend to many people and a great brother to Tyler. God Bless you, Thomas. We miss you!

I was thinking about Thomas today. I remembered his happy smile and how respectful he was when he was at our home. I will never forget seeing him peddling his bicycle down our street with a pizza in one hand and a huge smile on his face. He was an awesome boy and we were so happy to have known him. He is still remembered and makes us smile when we think of him.
I wish to send his family best wishes at this difficult time of year, and throughout the rest of the year. Thomas will never be forgotten.

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.
The Wind on The Downs
“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”
(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )
Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….
“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”
I did not know Thomas, but I am remembering
his service and sacrifice. He is my hero. !

The Other Side
i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.
can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.
i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.
it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side
the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.
Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.
I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.
REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

I can't believe a year has passed since Thomas has left us. I think of him often. At first I am sad, and then I remember that one day when he came back to school and said he joined the Army and was headed to Iraq. He was so proud. The smile on his face is one I will never forget. He was such a bright person to be around. And oh how he loved his pizza. He would always offer me a piece. That was the type of person he was. He was a caring and giving person.
To Thomas; I had your brother, Tyler, in class, and he reminds me of you. He is so proud of you Thomas. My thoughts are with you, on this day. May God be with you, and may you Rest in Piece.
To Mr. Siekert and Tyler, may God Bless you during this holiday season. My thoughts and prayers are with you both.

Mr. Siekert and Tyler,
I just wanted to let you know I am thinking of you today. We will never forget Thomas who made the world a brighter place and always made us laugh with his funny stories. A year ago I was crying when I would think of Thomas and today I am smiling because I had the chance to know him and will always remember the way he made us feel. He was a true blessing to everyone. Merry Christmas to both of you. I know Thomas is smiling down upon you!

Mr. Siekert,
It doesn't seem like a year has passed. Our family thinks of Thomas often, in fact last weekend we went out and cut down a Christmas tree and we reminisced of fun times with Thomas. I have a pair of dog tags hanging in my truck; one for Thomas and one for my friend Fred Pokorney who also died in Iraq. This is what got us on the subject of Thomas. We talked about Thomas riding his scooter with no brakes and how he loved pizza and how he rode his bike everywhere. Our family and especially my son Dennis, thought the world of Thomas. You and Thomas will be in our thoughts today, as you have often been the past year. May God Bless you and your family.

Dear Family of Thomas -- We have felt crushed to hear of the loss of your beloved Thomas. We want you to know of our deepest gratitude for his service and sacrifice and your sacrifice. The Scripture that comes to mind immediately is the one that says there is no greater love than one who lays down his life for his friends, let alone those he doesn't even know (John 15:13). May you be comforted by the Lord who collects your tears in his bottle. We salute the memory of Thomas' life and the giving of it for us and our protection and our freedom.

What a wonderful human being Thomas was! Always a joy to be around, always a smile on his face. How we all will miss him! We knew Thomas, as he was a friend of my nephew, and what a wonderful friend to have. I know that he touched the lives of everyone he knew. He made the world so bright. What a wonderful place the world would be if only everyone had just a little of what Thomas had. Kindness in his heart. We all must learn from the way he treated others. Thomas was so proud to serve our country, it was all I heard him talk about. We are all free because of the men and women like him. I will always remember Thomas riding his bike and his funny stories. We will all miss him, but we are the lucky ones for knowing him! God be with his family, what a special friend he was to all. My flag waves for you each day Thomas, and the rest of our soldiers who love our country!

To the Siekert Family:
My husband Spc. Michael Burns was in the same company with Thomas. Everytime I talk with Michael, he always talked about Thomas. My husband always tried his best to be there for Thomas and help him out with whatever he could. Michael said Thomas always brought a smile to his face. Thomas had a way to make him laugh, and that helped me out a lot, knowing someone was keeping my husbands spirits up while over there. I just want to say thank you to Thomas, and Mike and I will miss him very much..You all are in our prayers.

Curtis & Tyler,
I had Thomas in class, and he was such a joy to have. He always had a smile on his face and it brought smiles to others around him. He was always willing to go the extra mile to make others happy. I remember the day he came back to the school after returning home from boot camp and he couldn't have been more proud wearing his unifrom and to be serving our county. From the day I met Thomas, he had always wanted to join the service. That is what he lived for and I am honored to have known such a brave young man. My heart goes out to you and your family. He will be truely missed, but a hero who will never be forgotten. May God Bless you and your family.

To the Siekert Family,
Our thoughts and prayers go out to you. Thomas was a wonderful young man. From the first time we met him at our home in Lovelock, we were impressed with his manners, his respect for his elders, and his shining outlook on life. He was a pleasure to be around and we always enjoyed having him visit us. We will always remember him riding his bicycle with a pizza box in his hand and a big smile on his face. Thomas, thank you for your service to our great country. Every time we hear the National Anthem and see the American flag, we will think of you. Our family was blessed to have known you. You were a gentle soul and we know you are in Heaven now. Rest in Peace Thomas, and thank you for coming into our lives, as our lives were enriched by your presence.

We were blessed last June to share a plane ride with Tom from Texas to Reno. He chatted with us for almost the entire trip. Tom was very excited to be in the service and to be going to Iraq to serve his country. However, he was most excited to see and visit with his dad, and to work on the trailer they were restoring. We were moved by Tom's caring style and gentle demeanor. What a great young man. We are honored to have met him, if only briefly.

Words are hard to come by to comfort those left behind. My son was was also deployed to Bayji earlier this year, Thomas probably was one of the ones that took his place. I know Thomas is in a much better place now and it is those of us left behind, his family, his buddies left to carry on that have it the hardest and I pray for you. Keep the happy memories you have close in your hearts and minds. Feel free to email me. My son was in Iraq with the 1st IN for 15 mos. First in Bayji and than Balad.
