Chief Warrant Officer 2 Kyle E. Jackson

Kyle E. Jackson Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 19, 2006.
A U.S. Army helicopter pilot from Florida who also had served in the Marine Corps was killed in a crash in Iraq, his family said. Gary and Susan Jackson said they received a call Friday informing them their son, Kyle Jackson, 28, had been killed along with a co-pilot in an Army helicopter crash near Mosul, Iraq. The father of two young girls, Kyle Jackson had joined the Army because he wanted to be a commercial helicopter pilot. His first choice for duty was Korea, but instead he was sent to Iraq in October, his family said. He is the first U.S. serviceman from Sarasota to die in Iraq. "He was nervous about going," Gary Jackson said. "But he wanted to do his job, and he wanted to do it well." Jackson was born and raised in Sarasota. He graduated from New Directions High School, an alternative school that has since closed. Before joining the Army, Kyle had served four years in the Marine Corps. Before he settled on becoming a helicopter pilot, Kyle Jackson worked as an assistant manager at a pizza restaurant and installed metal roofs. He also worked for a time in the family's cabinetmaking business. "He liked to shoot guns and ride motorcycles," Susan Jackson said. "You know, typical guy stuff." His decision to go back into the service wasn't just about flying helicopters, his parents said. Kyle Jackson also wanted to serve his country after the 2001 terrorist attacks. He finished officer candidate school in March 2003 hand became a chief warrant officer. He then went to flight school. "He was so proud," Gary Jackson said. "I think when he got his wings, it was the proudest moment in his life." ___ Information from: Sarasota Herald-Tribune, http://www.herald-trib.com -- Kyle E. Jackson's family is particularly proud of something he invented called a "brass catcher." The invention, of which Kyle handmade about 70 and distributed to other pilots, catches shell casings from assault rifles and keeps the casings from getting under the helicopter pedals. His goal was to prevent accidents. "My father is very proud of that," said Kyle's brother Michael Jackson, 28, of Sarasota, Fla., died Jan. 13 when his helicopter was shot down near Al Sukar. He was assigned to Fort Drum. After four years with the Marines, Kyle Jackson worked as a manager of a Little Caesars Pizza, joined his family's cabinetry business and worked for a roofing business. But Michael said Kyle "just wasn't fulfilled doing stuff like that." So Kyle Jackson joined the Army and trained to fly. The kid who once wore green spiked hair and a dog collar hit the books. Jackson was an outdoorsman. "He liked to shoot guns and ride motorcycles," said his mother, Susan Jackson. "You know, typical guy stuff." He is survived by his wife, Betsy, and two daughters, Alia, 9, and Keira, 2.

Dear God, I pray today for Kyle's family and friends.

Every year on this day my heart is saddened as I remember with so much love, the years Kyle and my son Jimmie grew up together.

They were many years filled with lots of love and laughter, some of the best years of our lives.

I look forward to a time when we can all be together again.

May you bless and give peace and comfort to all those who grieve the loss of this beautiful young man...

Thank you Kyle for your service to our country, and for the ultimate sacrifice you made.

The Wind on The Downs

“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”

(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )

Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….

“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”

I did not know Kyle, but I am remembering
his service and sacrifice. He is my hero. !

The Other Side

i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.

can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.

i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side

the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

I don't pretend to know what to say or do that would bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.

Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.

I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON (KIA on 07/06/07) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

Dearest Gary, Susie, Thomas, Michael, Betsy, and family,

I am the mom of Kyle's best friend growing up, Jimmie Bishop. Our family had the pleasure of watching Kyle grow up.

We spent years from the time the boys were about 5 years old, enjoying Kyle in every way possible.

He was a great kid. Funny, hilarious, always kidding, always smiling, always having a good time.

He spent birthdays, holidays, sometimes it seemed like everyday, with our family, and our son Jimmie with his.

The boys played together, went to school together, church together, did life together.

The whole Jackson family was always a blessing to us.

Kyle, you were a proud soldier, we'll never forget the day you came to our door dressed in your uniform to proudly show us the wonderful young man that you had grown up to be. The man that God wanted you to be. We were and are so proud of you!

You loved your family, your life and we love you, we always will.

May God bless and give peace to those of us you left behind. We know that you are at peace, in a better place, waiting for the rest of us until we one day meet again.

Praise God and thank you Jesus that we have the hope and the faith to know that day will, one day come.

I'm going to look for some photos to post here, until the next time...

You don't know me, but my brother Brian Coronato is best friends with Kyle. I would like to say first that I am so sorry for the loss of your husband, son, and brother. I have had the pleasure of meeting Kyle a few times, and he was a great guy, just like Brian is always saying. Please know that you are all in my thoughts and especially in my prayers. To the Jackson Family:

We did not know your son personally, but we were great friends with Mitchell Carver, his comrade and fellow hero. We are sorry to hear of the loss of your son, and we want you to know that our thoughts and prayers are with you. If he was anything like Mitch, I am sure that the both of them were doing to best job they could for their fellow soldiers and our country. I know that each of you have a special memory of Kyle, but we can all share the pride in the purpose and career they had chosen. It takes special people all around to risk and give their life, so that others can acheive the freedom that we have to maintain in this great country.

To the family of Chief Warrant Officer 2 Kyle E. Jackson:

We do not know each other, will probably never meet but will be forever united in the loss of our sons. I know firsthand there are no words that will bring you the comfort you need right now, but please know you are not alone, my heart, thoughts and prayers are with you. May God grant you peace and strength to get through this and allow you to get to the point where a memory provides comfort and a smile rather than only the tears that flow so easily now.

God Bless this Man.

Psalm 23

1

The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.

2

He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters,

3

He restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

4

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

5

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.

6

Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.

This is a verse that I have found to be comforting to me during my husbands death. Remember that when it seems that no one else is round, God is still there with you! And he will be your rock!

My daughter,McKaLyne, and I send our heartfelt sympathy for your loss! God Bless this warrior, God Bless those whom serve freedom's cause! They are our true HERO's!!!!
