Hello,
We wanted to let your family and friends know that we are sending Care Packages to deployed troops this week and several of these will be dedicated to your loved one. Each package will carry the name, photo and hometown of Dustin Lee Kendall US Army Corporal.

We realize that this is a small tribute, but we do this with all respect and sincerity and we want you to know that it is made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals from across the American youth hockey community, their families and friends and others who support our mission.

We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you safe and strong.

Sincerely,

I never knew your name untill now, yet I remember your face to this day. I was a medic when you arrived at the aid station on warhorse. Your medics had worked so hard to bring you home alive. Your face and the pain of not being able to save you has haunted my dreams for so many years. Rest in paradise my brother

Almost 16yrs has past, my brother. How do I know exactly? You were driving the HMMVW that I should have been driving. I stayed back, to watch my son, Brandon, being born. While you deployed. I miss you. Your smile and always bright outlook on things. Turning all our miserable training event into joyous times.

In my mind's eye, I see him turned back to me from his pew in church, smiling that big grin! Such a sweetie!

I cannot say in words how much I miss you and miss spending those days with you and my sister running around the neighborhood. We had some really good times together. The summers that we spent at the pool and just hanging out at my house playing basketball or whatever else we could come up with that day. I still have that orange Nike visor I "borrowed" from you and never returned. I will never stop thinking about you. I miss you and love you!!

Father we entrust our brother Dustin to your mercy. You loved him greatly in this life: now that he is freed from all its cares, give him happiness and peace forever. Welcome him now into paradise where there will be no more sorrow, no more weeping or pain, but only peace and joy with Jesus your Son, and the Holy Spirit forever and ever.
May God hold Dustin in the palm of His hand. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. My deepest sympathies.

In Memory of Dustin ~ (Debra Estep)

January 19, 2009

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.

The Wind on The Downs

“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”

(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )

Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….

“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”

I did not know Dustin, but I am remembering
his service and sacrifice. He is my hero. !

The Other Side

i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.

can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.

i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side

the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

thinking of you.

Lacey Kendall

January 15, 2009

My husband Justin wrote this poem for Dustin, soon after he died. I think it is so beautiful. I hope you all enjoy it.

Prouder nay has been a man,

When life was laid for him, a friend,

To tell the tale and cry the tear,

And wish him back to hold him near.

To think that I could be so blessed,

To have a friend who thought life less,

Than freedom for his fellow kin,

And thought it worthy to defend.

We will remember Dustin Lee,

A day won't pass that we won't see,

His face before us in our minds,

Though tears from eyes may fall sometimes.

Tears are real and pain is strong,

But we know that it won't be long,

'til all together we'll meet up there,

And once again that SMILE he'll share.

I know another who such did,

For me and mine our sin to rid,

Did choose His life to give away,

So I could live another day.

And gratitude is what we give

We show it in the life we live,

Freed for freedom is what we've been,

Freed from oppression, and freed from sin.

So don't forget the sacrifice,

Of two who came and gave their lives,

Some difference between may be,

But both showed love for even me.

I don't know what to say I just found this site. Dustin was a friend of mine and always will be. No matter how hard your day was he could cheer you up, I am a mechanic and used to see him often. he would come down to the shop and make everyones day, with his posative attitude and upbeat personality. no matter what was wrong he could put a smile on your face. "Laugh or I'll make you laugh" ,was one line that he would say. The last time saw him was the day before the accident, that next day was the hardest day or our companies life. We lost a special person, but at the same time we had something that each and every one of will cherish forever. There was not one person that didn't like him. He never met a stranger, and he had a heart of gold. For that I would like thank you Mr.and Mrs. Kendall. You did a fine job raising him. I am going to Arlington to see him with my brother and Farr is going to be there a well. this is after we get home.
God bless and take care.
You are greatly missed Dustin. One day we will meet agian and have a fellowship.

Dustin buddy, i was just thinking about you...its funny how often you run across my mind. And it still amazes me how proud i am to have known you for the length of time i did. Its times of the year like this that i know people miss you the most but i know you'll be with us. That song "One More Day" sums it up for me. If only i could see you one more time just to catch up, shake your hand and give you a hug...but that would just leave me wishin for another day. I dont know how your family is doing, but i hope everything is going well for them. Just keep doing what you do. The chills that are sent across my body when i see something about soldiers helps me to remember your prescence. I miss you kid. And im super proud of you.

August 6, 2007

I don't pretend to know what to say or do that would bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.

Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.

I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON (KIA on 07/06/07) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

Dustin, This memorial day weekend I remember your sacrifice and I continue to Honor your memory. God bless you and ALL the fallen troops.

"Our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep."

The chief Shepherd. I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine. My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: and I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity us all. I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep. I will seek that which was lost, and bring again that which was driven away, and will bind up that which was broken, and will strengthen that which was sick. Ye were as sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls.
(Heb. 13:20. 1 Pet. 5:4. John 10:14,27,28. Ps. 23:13. Isa. 53:6. John 10:11. Ezek. 34:16. 1 Pet. 2:25.)

Until i get to see you again in Heaven. I will come up on your memorial birthday to visit you and place flowers on your grave.

Good Bye Hero!
Dustin Forever

January 15, 2007

You will never be forgotten. Your sacrifice still weighs on my heart. I still remember that smile of yours just as clearly as the last time I saw it. May the Lord's comfort be with your family today and everyday.
