On this unique Memorial Day, while many people are being held hostage in their homes by a virus of all things, I will be running with the Wear Blue Run to Remember in honor of SGT Joshua Allen Johnson. He clearly accomplished a lot by the young age of 24. I cannot thank him or his family enough for making the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. I am honored to run for such a fine young man. God bless his soul, those of our other fallen heroes, their families and friends, and all of the men and women who honorably serve our country.
Gone, but never forgotten...

Josh,
The years go by....and there is no you. Just hurt. I still kiss my 'Mary' on my dash and pray for you.
I just wish I could have hugged you.
Your Soul is with God now.
Thank you,
Val

It has truly been my honor to sign Joshua's guest book these past few years. Unfortunately, due to complications from my Multiple Sclerosis, this may be the last message I'm able to write. Please forgive me and know that Joshua will always be remembered in my home.

Father we entrust our brother Joshua to your mercy. You loved him greatly in this life: now that he is freed from all its cares, give him happiness and peace forever. Welcome him now into paradise where there will be no more sorrow, no more weeping or pain, but only peace and joy with Jesus your Son, and the Holy Spirit forever and ever.
May God hold Joshua in the palm of His hand. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. My deepest sympathies.

Dear family of Josh,
I was fortunate to have served as his gunner in Iraq. Kristoffer Hill was also my driver. Josh came to our platoon about a month before his passing. We are all greatful to have had him as a member of our platoon. Not just for his knowledge, but because of his personality. He was a true professional. He always made Hill and I laugh with his jokes. He did anything in his power to keep us safe and I am so proud to have known him. He was a true warrior. Big J, you will never be forgotten. Rest in Peace brother.
My deepest sympathy,

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.
Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.
I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.
REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

Dear family of Josh,
I served with Josh at Ft. Drum, with charlie company 187. We arrived from Ft. Benning within two weeks of each other. We were in the same basic training battalion as well. We were both deployed to Afghanistan together. Getting to know Josh was a highlight in my short Army career. he was the only other soldier I ever knew to also have a 2 year enlistment. We left Ft. Drum on the same day on our jeeps. learning that he had re-enlisted and volunteered for service in Iraq was no surprise. We had a lot of common experiences, but Josh was always more selfless, more humble, harder working, more respectful than I. I'll miss not running into him someday, but I hope I can just say that my rememberances of him are friendly and happy. In the tough times, Josh was a great person to be around. His life blessed mine, I pray that your pride in him never fades and every thought of his great life brings comfort that you were in the family of a great man. God bless your family. Please call or write if any one would like to talk.

Dear Johnson family,
I was fortunate enough to serve with Josh as his driver here in Iraq. Josh had only come to my platoon about a month and a half before his death. However the first day he came to us, he fit in perfectly. Josh was an extremely thoughtful and patriotic young man. My gunner, Charles Ames and I use to have to get the vehicle ready to go in the mornings and didn't have time to go to breakfast every morning. Josh would get up early himself and get breakfast for Ames and myself. Josh was very proud of his service for his country, however he was never boastful of his own accomplishments. We will miss Josh very much. Your loss is our loss. Do not hesitate to contact me if you would like to talk or need anything.
My deepest sympathy,

SGT Joshua Johnson was a courageous warrior who gave all that he could defending freedom and leading his men in combat. I am thankful for having the honor and privelage to have led and known such a tremendous soldier. The passion and humility with which he did his duty continues to serve as our inspiration and the standard we aspire to everyday. I pray the Lord gives strength and peace to all Josh's family and friends during this difficult time. He will be sorely missed, and never forgotten, as we remain forever thankful for his countless contibutions and final sacrifice.

To the family of Sgt. Joshua A. Johnson,
I didn't know your son, nor do I know your family, but I keep you close to heart and in my prayers. My boyfriend, Sgt. Richard LaFreniere, currently serves in Task Force Saber and said that he had gotten to know Sgt. Johnson really well. He said that he was a good man, and a good soldier. He not only cared about the mission that he was on, but he also cared very much about family, friends and his fellow comrades. He will be greatly missed, and will always be a hero in our eyes. Please accept our condolences. With all of our respect, God bless.

It sounds like he was a true patriot and protector of our families. I am so very greatful that he took a stand to be part of the best men our country has to offer.
My sympathies go out to you though. I can not even imagine it, but you know that Josh is with God now in a place so much more glorious then our understandings can even touch upon. He is so very happy now. There is so much love surrounding him. Mourn for your loss and please feel free to communicate with me and with others around you. Dear Family of Sgt. Joshua Johnson:
On behalf of my husband, SSG Robert L. Green, Jr., HHC 1-172AR BN 2BCT 28ID, our family sends our thoughts and prayers to you during this difficult time. Josh was my husband's machinegunner during the convoy into Iraq last July. Rob told me on Sunday that he got to know Josh pretty well during that trip. He enjoyed his time with him very much. He stated in an email "he was a real nice kid and will be missed."
We thank your family for bringing such a wonderful, talented and brave young man into this world. We are all so proud of him and thankful for what he did for his country. He will be greatly missed.

I know first hand there are no words right now that will bring you the comfort and peace you need. Just know that you are not alone. My heart, thoughts, and prayers are with you all as you mourn this loss. We don't know each other, will probably never meet, but will forever be united in the loss of our Heroes. We have, unfortunately joined a group, an ever-growing group of families in this situation. May God grant you peace and strength to get through this and be able once again to smile at a memory rather than have only the tears that flow so easily now. If you ever want to talk, I'm only an e:mail away. God Bless this courageous soldier and his family.

Psalm 23
1
The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.
2
He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters,
3
He restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
4
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
5
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.
6
Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.
This is a verse that I have found to be comforting to me during my husbands death. Remember that when it seems that no one else is round, God is still there with you! And he will be your rock!
My daughter,McKaLyne, and I send our heartfelt sympathy for your loss! God Bless this warrior, God Bless those whom serve freedom's cause! They are our true HERO's!!!!
