Hello,
We realize that we are very late to express our deepest condolences, but we wanted to let your family and friends know that we will be sending Care Packages to deployed troops this holiday season and several of these will be dedicated to your loved one. Each package will carry the name, photo and hometown of Brandon R. Dronet US Marine 1st Lieutenant.
We realize that this is a small tribute, but we do this with all respect and sincerity and we want you to know that it is made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals from across the American youth hockey community, their families and friends and others who support our mission.
We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you safe and strong.
Sincerely,

It is so hard to believe we are at our 6th anniversary of the most painful day of our lives. Time hasn't eased the pain, I think we've just had to adjust to living with it. Our loved ones will always be treasures of our heart, but losing them was like losing a piece of our self. Yet, we must go on and carry them with us wherever we go and celebrate their life along the way. They will never be forgotten!
Please know your family and friends remain in our prayers and we will never forget 1st. Lt. Dronet's sacrifice.

Here we are at the 5th anniversary; an anniversary that none of us wanted to have. As our hearts continue to ache for our loved ones, we all have had to find our way through the grief and learn how to deal with the loss in our own way. For my family, it is our faith in God and knowing that He is in control and nothing surprises Him, that helps us through each day. The support of family, friends, community and the prayers of people we may never meet keeps us going. And through it all, we continue to celebrate Nic's life and he remains a part of our lives each and every day. My family continues to pray for you & your families and be assured we will never forget the sacrifice 1st Lt. Dronet made. God Bless!

Even though it has been sometime scince the incident, I think of those lost that night nearly every day. Their selfless service and sacrifice is the clearest representation of what they stood for. 1stLt. Dronet was always a pleasure to work with when our daily tasks crossed paths. He was truly a fine officer. He lives on in all that knew him. Most directly in you his family but also in all of us who bare the "Eagle Globe and Anchor" and salute our "Stars and Stripes"

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.
Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.
I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

Loss of a Brother
Over the past 28 years, just as everyone else who knows Brandon, we have shared so many great memories together. (Too many to list..) From the years in Henry during school and through the years in the Marine Coprs together, Brandon has and always will be my brother I love so much. It is so hard for me to accept that this wonderful person, friend, husband, father, son, grandson and Marine can no longer physically be here with us anymore. We must all know that he is preparing a better place than we know now, for his family and friends so we may be reunited again. Summer, always hold him in your heart, and he will give you hope, strength and happiness you all so deserve. You and the kids must always remember, he loves you all and will always be there for you guys. My thoughts and prayers are with you and the kids always, and know I will always be here if I am needed. He will be missed by all I know, but I miss my buddy so very much and I am so proud of him for all his hard work and success in life, family, school and the Marine Corps. I thank you brother for your service and sacrifice to our great Nation. My friend, here's a few words for you: Go Tigers....and Semper Fi....

Summer, words cannot say how sad we were to hear of Brandon's passing. We can only imagine what you and the children must be going through. We attempted to send flowers, but had much difficulty obtaining a valid address.
Angie screamed when she read the article here in the Okinawa edition of the Star & Stripes.
I have lost a few friends in the years since TBS, but none have affected me as much as Brandon's.
Angie and I were reminiscing about that last dinner the two of you hosted before we all left TBS to go our separate ways. Our 4 oldest still talk about that shrimp gumbo.
Our memory of the 2002 Marine Corps Ball with both of you is something we'll cherish forever.
I think about Brandon every day, and I know that this is no comparison, but I try not to go too deep, because the pain comes quick. We think of you often these days, and hope that you are finding the strength to make it through every day. We know that you and your family are pround of him. I don't think there is a person on this earth who met Brandon, and didn't smile. His sense of humor was infectious. He made me laugh even during our worst times in the field at TBS, it seemed like he and I always ended up with the heavest crew-served weapons, and when I didn't thik I could haul that M240G any further, there was Brandon, trying to take it, or the spare barrel bag from me, despite the crushing weight of his own load.
I truly miss him, Summer, and I will carry him with me, always.
Please drop us a line if you need anything, or just want to talk.
God Bless you and your family,

Having Brandon and Summer here in North Carolina with us was like having a piece of home. I always thought of them as family. I remember being 13 walking in Summer and Brandon's wedding. I always looked up to them and they always included me even though I was probably the annoying younger cousin. I saw Brandon twice this past year, which is unusual because we all live far away. 1st Brandon came to Fort Lauderdale for the Air & Sea show. He invited me and my friends and we watched him and his crew fly two helicopters in the show. He was so proud of being a pilot and loved talking to people about flying. I took him and some of his marine buddies down to south beach, that is the last picture I have of him, and I am glad to remember him that way. The 2nd time Brandon, Summer, Dustin, Kourtnie, Cody, and Maddie came to Florida for a family trip to Disney. I drove to meet them for the weekend and it was such a nice time. The family they have become and the kind of people they are is something to admire. Brandon will truly be missed, but I know he will continue to love and protect his family and friends.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Brandon's family. I grew up and went to school with both Summer and Brandon. He will be greatly missed. His memory will linger on through Summer and their four beautiful children. I think Summer summed it up best saying "that he traded his wings for another kind...those of a guardian angel." Therefore, he will live on. God bless his family!!

Maj Timothy Missler

To the family of Brandon Dronet, my name is Maj Timothy Missler and I was Brandon's on-wing during his primary flight training at VT-6 in Pensacola Florida. Of the thirteen on-wings that I trained during my tenure at VT-6, Brandon was undoubtedly my favorite. His stellar attitude, work ethic and professionalism made him an absolute pleasure to be around. He always had a smile on his face and was one of the easiest people to ever be around. I could tell from the first time that I met him that he was one of the "good guys"; an excellent individual who was going to make a positive impact in the Marine Corps.
A special bond always develops between an on-wing and his student as he/she progresses to their initial solo flight in flight school. That bond may contain either positive or negative memories, however one always exists. I can honestly say that Brandon and I had an excellent relationship; one of mentorship, friendship and a common love of country, family and the Marine Corps. During my time as his On-Wing and his subsequent time in the Training Command while he learned to fly helicopters, I had the pleasure of not only getting to know Brandon, but his family as well. I knew of his love of everything from Louisiana (whether it be Cajun food or LSU football). I knew of his love for Summer and their four children. I also knew of his love of the CH-53E (this was the only airframe that he ever wanted to fly). At this most difficult of moments, I am taking some small consolation in the fact that Brandon was lost doing something that he loved in the only airframe that he ever wanted to fly.
When I discovered that Brandon was a crewmember who perished in that accident off Djibouti, it hit me with an intensity that I hadn’t experienced in the previous losses of my life. I know all too well that there are no words that I can offer that will provide comfort or take the pain of your loss away. However, I want you to know that you are not alone in grieving Brandon. Brandon left behind a legacy of excellence in everything he did and brightened the lives of everyone with whom he came in contact with. He was an outstanding husband, father, son and Marine Corps Officer who made the world a much better place during his short time on earth. I know that Brandon is in heaven right now doing the same thing that he did on earth; he is watching over his friends and family, protecting them from those who wish them harm.
My heart, thoughts, and prayers are with you as you mourn your loss. Please accept my heartfelt condolences and don’t hesitate to contact me if I can do anything to help you in your time of mourning and recovery. With deepest sympathies.

My thoughts & prayers are with the family and friends of Lt Dronet. “Sgt D.” was a great man and a magnificent example of a Marine, Father, & Husband. Many former RS New Orleans Marines who served with Sgt D are grieving his passing with you & we just want you to know that he has our deepest respect and admiration for his selfless duty and sacrifice to our Corps & Country. It was truly a privilege to serve with Brandon R. Dronet and his presence in our Corps will be remembered & sincerely missed.

To Brandon's family and friends-
My family and I are praying for you and your family during this difficult time. We send our deepest empathy as we lost our Marine on 11/30/05 in Fallujah. We are comforted to know that our Marines are serving their country with such honor and bravery. We are so proud of our Marines and all of our other service men and women for all that they have done and continue to do to keep us safe and to give us the freedom we have that so many take for granted.
They are true Heroes and need to always be remembered for their selflessness and sacrifice to better our world. We will forever be united in the loss of our heros. We are so sorry for your loss and hope our words will ease some of the pain, and maybe fill some of your emptiness.
Yesterday, Today, Forever – Semper Fi - Marines!
Our sincerest gratitude for their bravery-
