It's been many years now since we lost Pat. I find myself still today saddened thinking about him,the good times,the years we lost after he left us and wondering on all the great things he'd have done after his service. The last time i saw him i was about 25 years old and here i am 39 and my eyes well up with tears when i think of the friend we lost. Sorry brother that it's been a while since I've been here to talk about you but you are NEVER EVER forgotten nor are you EVER going to leave my heart. Until we meet again soldier

Hello,
We would like to express our deepest condolences and also let the Gallagher Family and friends know that we will be sending Care Packages to deployed troops this week and we'll be dedicating several of these to your loved one. Each package will carry the name, photo and the hometown of Patrick J. Gallagher US Marine Lance Corporal. We realize that this is a small tribute, but we do this with all respect and sincerity and we want you to know that it is made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals from across the American youth hockey community. We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you safe and strong.
Sincerely,
Charlie Gili & Family

I didnt serve in the fleet with Patrick but we did attend boot camp together and both were stationed in Cali and linked up a few times while there. Ill never forget the day i got the news of his death as well as another great Marine whom died during the accident that i worked with. Still to this day and idk why but today especially I am having a hard time with this. I was suppose to be in on that deployment but go figure a njp kept me out. Idk why i am troubled so much but just wanted to say i miss my brothers and you both were great Marines. Miss ya both. LCpl Gallagher & Cpl Bass.

I am one of Patrick's close friends. He was one of the most selfless, honorable, and genuine men I have ever had the privilege of not only knowing,but spending much time,as young men,together,good times and bad times,living life as full as we could. As a group,we were all a unit,pat,mike,jimmy,danny,lenny and me..........but he was the best of us. The one who used not only his brain but his huge heart in situations,whether right or wrong(lol). He was the one any one of us could count on to be there,no matter the reason,and be not just a friend,but a brother! Pat would never have blamed what happened to him on that day on anything but destiny,as much as it ripped us all apart. So for any of his fellow marines,I thank you for not only taking notice in the great man he was,but for being a friend he needed while away from home and in that hell. We all feel pain from a monumental loss like his death,but guilt is not a feeling,I know personally,that pat would ever want any of you brave men and fellow brothers of his to feel! Let his memory shine on forever! He will always be sorely missed and eternally loved!

Pat I will never forget that day as it will be burned in my memories for life as I sit and watch helplessly with unknown wishing there where something any of us could do or have done. Miss you bud. On our way home that deployment we stopped in Ireland again and I got that same beer we shared right before we got on the plane.

As I sit here with my family I can't help but feel guilty. That day that Gallagher got on that 7 ton was not meant to happen. It was supposed to be me. You see the week before we switched convoys and I was spared. He let me go back to Al Asad in his place. We were roommates at Haditha damn. He talked about his wife and son often. I've carried this guilt for years and I want to reach out to the family that lost their husband/father that day and say I'm sorry. He was a good man and a good Marine. I can still hear his accent as I am writing this. If you get any comfort from this it was worth it. I'm so sorry for your loss. He was my friend and I miss him to this day.

Its been a bunch of years brother,and i find myself sitting here,thinking of all the times in the old days and tears still fall. You were more than a friend to so many,and a hero to me then and now...always. I'll never forget you dude. We'll meet again.

So I was sitting here and reminiscing all the times Pat and I shared together. We had a good group of friends and we always stuck together. It doesn't matter how much time passes, I still laugh when I think about all the times shared, as well as cry for time that we lost. It's a honor being his friend, One day my friend I'll see you on the other side. Until then may my mom comfort you.

To the family and friends of Lcpl Patrick Gallagher I send my thoughts and gratitude for the sacrifice he made for our great country. I know that even though much time has gone by that the hurt is still there. My nephew, Cpl David Bass, was in the truck with him that fateful day and I know how hard it has been to carry on. The hurt will never go away and neither will our pride. Never for a minute do I take for granted what they did for us. God be with you all for the time being because we will see our heroes again some day.

“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”
(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )
Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….

That you are round about me, I believe”

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.
Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.
I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

Patrick, we miss you alot. You will always be the my soulmate and the love of my life. Every person you met in your days of living, you have touched in someway. Before you came into my life it was meaningless and sad,then you came into my life like an angel and my whole world was changed. Patrick,you gave me all your love and a son that looks like you. I think how lucky I was to know you but how lucky I was to have your love and to be your wife. Everyday I miss you and think about you.I'm trying yo live on like you would have wanted me to. Evan will never forget his father and what his father has done for his country and family. No one will ever let him forget the hero you will always be. And to my family and Patrick's family especially his mother,father,brother,and his grandparents Ilove you all and thanks you for always being there for Evan and me. I know it was hard to comfort me and Evan when you all are in pain and I shall never forget it. I hope everyone whio knew Patrick will remember him as a man who never judge, who was put his family first,who lived his life for Evan. I hope they lived their lives how patrick lived his. He always lived his life with love for his family,friends and his son,Evan.

As an active member of the U.S. Navy. I am constantly reminded of the dangers, the sacrifices, and hardships we all endure, but every single person that pays the ultimate sacrifice upon the altar of freedom that we as Americans enjoy every day, I am both saddened and supremely proud of their great love for country and humanity. To you that are survived my heart and unending gratititude go out to you, and although I never knew your son, I do know that he is a real HERO!

To Patrick's family and friends-
My family and I are praying for you and your family during this difficult time. We send our deepest empathy as we lost our Marine on 11/30/05 in Fallujah. We are comforted to know that our Marines are serving their country with such honor and bravery. We are so proud of our Marines and all of our other service men and women for all that they have done and continue to do to keep us safe and to give us the freedom we have that so many take for granted.
They are true Heroes and need to always be remembered for their selflessness and sacrifice to better our world. We will forever be united in the loss of our heros. We are so sorry for your loss and hope our words will ease some of the pain, and maybe fill some of your emptiness.

To the Family of Lance Cpl. Patrick J. Gallagher:
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courgeous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guestbook for the rest of my life. We lost our son 12/1/05.
I know first hand there are no words right now that will bring you the comfort and peace you need. Just know that you are not alone. My heart, thoughts, and prayers are with you all as you mourn this loss. We don't know each other, will probably never meet, but will forever be united in the loss of our Heroes. We have, unfortunately joined a group none of us wanted to join, an ever-growing group of families in this situation. May God grant you peace and strength to get through this and be able once again to smile at a memory rather than have only the tears that flow so easily now. To be so proud of your loved one and so saddened at the same time is a mix of emotions very difficult to deal with. I am sorry that I never knew your soldier personally, but none of these courageous men and women will be forgotten. They will never be able to be replaced, but sometime, someday your loving memories will help to sustain you. This courageous soldier will forever now be your Angel watching over you all for the rest of your lives. It's what brings me some measure of peace and comfort and I hope it will you as well. To his family and friends in pain, I offer this comfort. When you find yourself in that dark sorrowful place, think not only of how you will miss him, but instead recall the years, days, hours and minutes gifted to you by his presence. If you ever want to talk, I'm only an e:mail away and would love for you to tell me more about your Hero. God Bless this courageous soldier and family.
