To the family of PFC Raymond L. Henry:
Please know that just as your loved one remains in your hearts and minds; his sacrifice, and that of your family, remains with the people he died defending. Words cannot express the gratitude we feel for his bravery and selflessness, or the heartache we feel for your loss. God bless and keep you always.

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.

The Wind on The Downs

“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”

(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )

Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….

“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”

I did not know Raymond, but I am remembering
that he gave his all.
He is my hero.

The Other Side

i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.

can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.

i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side

the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

Never forgotten~ rest in peace.

August 15, 2007

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.

Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.

I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

I remember walking onto the basketball court of FOB Marez, and thinking man that kid can play. Turned out that he could play and I would soon join him on the team. I was so astonished by his respect, towards seniors and his drive to succeed not only at sports but in life. I felt that his parents raised a strong young man! When Henry passed I was very angered but I was happy to have had the opportunity to meet a GOOD YOUNG MAN! May God bless you and your family! BUFFALOES!!!!!

October 31, 2006

first and foremost, i want to send my sincere condolences to Raymond's family, and close group of friends and loved ones. I can't explain the way i felt when i heard the news of Ray's passing on. Being that i am serving in the military myself, i was actually onboard an aircraft carrier, sailing off the coast of South America when i found out, through an email from my family back home. Nothing hurt more than to think of how i wasn't going to be able to say goodbye to my friend Ray when he was laid to rest. I wish more than anything that i could've been there for him, just as he was there for me growing up. Ray and i shared some pretty fun times coming up through Walker Jr. High school, and playing basketball at Western High as well. He always knew how to make people smile no matter what was going on, and i envy that quality of his to this day. i know what it feels like to lose someone so close to you, and to lose sight of your faith as well. My younger brother passed away at the age of 15, and to think of how he was taken out of this world much too soon is something i can relate to and understand. But through many trials and tribulations, i have come to accept the fact that God has a very important plan for the people that are taken from us so suddenly. And eventually, if i am lucky enough, i will be reunited with my little brother Lucas, and an unforgettable friend named Raymond Henry. Once again, my thoughts and prayers are with Raymond's family and all of his many loved ones around the nation... To Ray... may you rest in peace forever... much love big man... always and forever, Micah

Ms. Robinson, I read your entry today and cry for the heartache that you must feel. I think of Raymond daily and think of the pain you must endure with each waking moment. I know that your faith has been challenged, but you must believe that God needed Raymond more than we do...

God would not want you to hurt this way. I don't know what to say for I feel that although all of my intentions are heartfelt, it must sting your heart to read the empathetic words of another...

I pray for you and I hope that you remember that you are loved, your son is loved and more than anything else...GOD IS GOOD! When your heart feels as though it cannot go another beat...look to GOD! He is carrying you through this very trying time...

GOD BLESS YOU and again, I am sorry for your loss. Raymond was a wonderful young man!

My heart is weaker, and my soul displaced. As Raymond's mother, I can't express to you the pain I encounter on a daily basis. On April 26, 2006,approximately 12 noon, the hard knocks on the door and the vision of men in green uniforms, would leave me lifeless. My faith has been challenged in the worst way. As an American, I am proud of what these brave soldiers sacrifice for me,and this country. As a mother, I can't understand why these soldiers are willing to sacrifice so much. I knew in my heart that Raymond, would make a good soldier. Raymond, once told me that if he died being a soldier,he would die doing something he wanted to do.

My condolences to the Henry family. My son PFC Jeremy Hamilton, proudly served side by side with him. Jeremy told me what a great friend and just a great guy that Raymond was, and that all of their unit misses him. Jeremy has alot of stories he told us about Raymond, and he sounded like a very nice young man. Our thoughts and our prayers go out to his families, friends, and fellow soldiers that knew and love him.The Hamilton family

I met Raymond when he assisted my ex-husband (his recruiter) and I in relocating from Seal Beach to Anaheim. I only interacted with Raymond for a short time but quickly realized that he was a fantastic young man. He was respectful and polite and just seemed to be an all around good young man. He was very excited about leaving for the Army. I have a child myself and there is no bond greater than the bond shared between a parent and their child. Raymond has been on my mind and he and his family have been in my prayers daily since he departed this world to become a soldier for our Heavenly Army above. My deepest apologies go out to you Henry Family...I cannot imagine to know how you feel. A tear slowly rolls down my face for you with each passing thought of Raymond. But through all of your sorrow, you must find a way to rejoice for Raymond is with God now and he is waiting to see you again. God Bless and stay strong!

My condolences to the Henry family.

Raymond may you rest in peace. Thank you for making the ultimate sacrifice in the name of freedom. You have earned your golden halo and wings. May you continue to soar in the heavenly clouds up above.

May 1, 2006

To the Family of Pfc. Raymond L. Henry:

My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courgeous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guestbook for the rest of my life. We lost a son 12/1/05.

I know first hand there are no words right now that will bring you the comfort and peace you need. Just know that you are not alone. My heart, thoughts, and prayers are with you all as you mourn this loss. We don't know each other, will probably never meet, but will forever be united in the loss of our Heroes. We have, unfortunately joined a group none of us wanted to join, an ever-growing group of families in this situation. May God grant you peace and strength to get through this and be able once again to smile at a memory rather than have only the tears that flow so easily now. To be so proud of your loved one and so saddened at the same time is a mix of emotions very difficult to deal with. I am sorry that I never knew your soldier personally, but none of these courageous men and women will be forgotten. They will never be able to be replaced, but sometime, someday your loving memories will help to sustain you. This courageous soldier will forever now be your Angel watching over you all for the rest of your lives. It's what brings me some measure of peace and comfort and I hope it will you as well. To his family and friends in pain, I offer this comfort. When you find yourself in that dark sorrowful place, think not only of how you will miss him, but instead recall the years, days, hours and minutes gifted to you by his presence. If you ever want to talk, I'm only an e:mail away and would love for you to tell me more about your Hero. God Bless this courageous soldier and family.
