The flag is flying in the sky
A daily reminder of who and why
We sit here remembering them today
These heroes that now lie in their grave.
While here on earth, the bravest ones
A soldier, a mother, a daughter, a son
The father's who went far off to war
To ensure our safety and so much more
To keep our children happy and free,
Someone must do this job, you see
So, today remember the soldiers who served,
Because this is one thing they truly deserve.
The loved one's that they have left behind,
The Gold Star mothers, like your and mine
We honor them proudly, every day
Our American Soldier...Proud and Brave
By Shannon Williams-Austill
I want to thank this soldier for their sacrifice.
And, I wish to extend my deepest regards to the loved ones they have left behind. Their service to our nation, has not gone unnoticed. They are our heroes, who paid the ultimate price for us, and that is something that every American needs to be reminded of and remember everyday.
The freedom we all have, we have because of brave young men and women who made a choice to defend and serve.
Today, let me remember your loved one with you.

Halito to the family of Hatak Yearby:
I respect all veterans of war, my father is a Army Air Corps Veteran of WWII and served in North Africa. I am sure that Mr. Yearby is a member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma. I am a member too. I was fortunate to get a student deferment during the Vietnam Era and was never called. If I was called, I was going to join the Marines. I pray to the creator for the family and to all the families who have lost a loved one in all the world wars.
I also had a half brother who served during the Vietnam Era.

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.
The Wind on The Downs
“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”
(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )
Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….
“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”
I did not know Hatak, but I am remembering
his service. He is my hero. !

The Other Side
i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.
can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.
i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.
it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side
the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.
Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.
I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

“Paid in Full”
To Honor The Service of Fallen and Injured Marines
Marines through and through, they paid the price
Six thousand miles away, we live the life
For which they paid with their blood, spirits and bodies
We will never forget what they paid in full
We hope and we pray that somehow their loved ones find comfort
In God, in the flag, in the memory of their loved ones’ bravery
They’re gone now but we see them still…proud, strong, willing
Covering each other’s backs… courageous, moving forward
What kind of love did they have for us to be willing
To give it all for the Black, White, Jew, Christian, Muslim?
We don’t comprehend but we honor you now and forever
You are Our Marines…some living…some not
Forever in our hearts we will cherish your lives
Lives too short yet immortal they’ll be
Highest brotherhood of the Few, the Proud
They stand at attention, and we gaze with awe
Some know their names not, but our admiration for them
Flows limitless within us, between us
They sacrificed their limbs or their lives
Freedom still rings, a soft sound across the miles
It tolls slowly; all of creation takes note
Of the lives that were lost for people unknown
Out of sight but not lost; forever among us
The starched blues marching straight
Toward the place where we will meet them
Many years from now…how we loved them…
Well done beloved Brothers and Sisters…You’ve paid it in full
Always Faithful Marines, You Have Paid it in Full

One President said “Ask not what Your Country can do for you, ask what You can do for your Country.” Your Husband, young Son and Brother Hatak’s strong convictions and courage moved His heart to serve and defend. He loved talking about his heritage and all of his beliefs with his Indian back ground. I loved listening to him. He was my favorite rider. He was so nice and sincerely in so many ways. I am truly going to miss him. He was one of a kind and a great guy. I am sorry for your lose. You're all in my prayers. He will be missed.

As a minister preparing for a Memorial Day sermon, I decided to highlight the courage of Lance Cpl. Yearby during the message at First Presbyterian Church of Cushing, Oklahoma. We will remember him and thank God for the feedom we enjoy because of his sacrific. I read through this Guest Book and can tell that Hatak was greatly loved. We have been kept safe since 9-11 because of wariors like Hatak who have kept the enemy on the run for their lives... over there... instead of over here. May God continue to give you a peace in knowing that Hatak will go down in history as a hero. May he bless you with comfort as you mourn his loss.

To the Yearby's,
Justin, you probably don't remember me. I was still in school when you last saw me. My brother, Tim, and I were running summer track with Jay and you had come to a meet for a few minutes to watch. Though we have not seen each other in years, our families have always been close as you know. And, with this news, my heart aches. We see these pictures of young soldiers on the news and know they are "somebody's somebody", but when you know WHOSE "somebody" they are, the sorrow and reality are so very real. I can't imagine the hurt your family including Hatak's wife must feel. Just know that all of you are in our prayers and we stand humbled and with gratitude for Hatak's service to our country. I am from southern Oklahoma, a mother, and most of all an American. I am praying for your family and the many thousands that have lost the ulitmate loss. I know that you guys are very proud of your son as well as most of us Okies are. When times get hard just remember that the gates of heaven are guarded by the best Marines and your son is there guarding those gates until your arrival. God bless and may He continue to comfort you at this time.

Dear Yearby Family,
My family would like to send you our deepest and heartfelt sympathies for your loss.
We were at the last dance where Justin his father was Headman dancer and Earl Plumbly spoke of Justins children and explained he dances for his children and that was great to hear. We've been to many dances where Hatak and his father danced and we were at the Biltmore where he was being honored just before he was to leave for his mission, I felt very proud to have been a part of that honorable time and seening him with all of his family and friends honoring him left me and other with a lump in our throat. Your family and his wife our in our Thoughts and Prayers. When you feel like things are getting bad just remember Hatak is looking over you and standing guard over the village from above.

When i heard the news i honestly thought it was a joke, i mean how could something like this happen so close to home? It wasn't until the whole town of Marietta was talking about it, that i finally realized that my friend may really be gone. Saturday morning i stopped by the funeral home to see my buddy lying in a coffin, it was really true. I was in shock, i couldn't believe that was really Hatak, my classmate and good friend.
To the Yearby Family:
I am Very sorry for your loss. I wish there were words to express to you how I feel, but I just cant seem to find any. Hatak was a great friend, soldier, and an overall Great person. May all of you find peace in knowing how many lives he has touched. I love all of you. God be with you

Dear Yearby Family,
Even though we have never met I feel as if we are part of a family. My daughter's fiancee was killed by an IED in Iraq on 10/3/2005. It is my prayer that you will feel God holding you close to his heart just as He has held my family these past 7 months. You all will be in my prayers as you walk through the difficult days ahead.

I cannot begin to tell you how truly sad I am for your loss. When my mom told me the news, I didn't think I'd be able to breathe again, much less stop crying. As a fellow Marine I am so proud and honored to think of him as a brother, but he felt like family long before either of us were Marines. I won't be able to make it home soon, but I will visit when I am in Oklahoma again. If there is anything you need, or anything I can do, please let me know. My phone number is: 540-287-4947, and my email is: [email protected]. My heart is with you.

My Yearby Family,
I just wanted to say that Brother is living his dream out to be a Warrior. He knew his role in his life and truly found the Lord. I know its hard to understand, but looking at this world today the Lord’s taking the best. His life is a testimony of bravery, compassion, dedication to his This Country and most of his family and his People with the love of the Lord. Brother (b/c I could never say his whole name) was a role model and his life is a treasure to “Indian Country,” and the Communities of Love County. I know everything is over whelming now and you must now find other activities for the weekends, but like Mary said she can hear the drum and he is having a reunion, a honor dance. We know first off that Uncle Hatak can to visit his nephew and he is still here in our hearts.
He loved to dance and Pow-wows are something you’ll loved to go together as a family. After this time of mourning you must enter back in to the arena to honor your son. He did not die in vain, but the most honorable way. I hope we can bring our troops home and save other families from that visit. Prayers are being offered from across Indian Country and my family offers a shoulder to ya’ll…I am here for ya….just tell me to leave whenever, aye.
Love you
Martina Minthorn

PS: I keep thinking about how Brother told his officers why he had a part down the middle of his head?
Sir, I am a Native American, Sir, I had braids all my life, Sir, I cut my hair before bootcamp, Sir, my hair just grows like this, Sir.
