Mario "Beef" Bievre and I had big plans after the Army. When i deployed with him as a teen, he taught me the essences of life; speaking foreign languages and how to be smooth with the ladies. I challenged this body building Haitian descended 1st Ranger once to hand to hand combat on a remote firebase in the middle of the valley. Let's just say, "Ouch." He crushed and twisted me like i was nothing. Didn't know he was KIA until recent. I still have big plans for us. #untilvalhalla #rltw

I met Staff Sgt. Bievre at Fort Campbell, Ky. My main memory of him other than being an outstanding leader and soldier, was when he spoke he reminded me of Vin Diesel.

7 years… 7 years and it still feels like yesterday. It was like a our nation's Statue of Liberty had fallen to us. That's what this man meant to us. I remember my first day showing up at the unit, and being so ignorant I didn't address our PL as sir, and "Beef" as we affectionately called Mario, lit in to me like I was the worst thing on earth haha. Scary! Then I got to know him, and we attended Air Assault School together, and he became a role model to me. We were supposed to come back from our deployment, both with baby girls. And it pisses me off so much that he hasn't been able to be there for his, as I have mine. He would've been such a great father. I miss him, and the rest of the world should too. This is such a hard time of year. Sincerely,

Charlie Gili

Hello,
We would like to express our deepest condolences and also let the Bievre Family know that we recently sent Care Packages to American troops in the war zones. Each box carried a dedication sheet that includes the name, service information and a photo of your loved one. We recognize that this is a humble tribute, but we wanted you to know that it is heartfelt and made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals in the youth hockey community and beyond. We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you strong.
Sincerely,

To the Family of SSG Mario Bievre,

I went to basic training w/ Mario at Fort Benning. B Co. 1/50 2nd PLT "Commandos"!! Mario was a great man, a great leader, and a great soldier. When I first met him, he was larger than life...older, more mature, and seemed to know what he wanted more than others. I know that he will be missed.

Dear family of
Staff Sgt. Mario J. Bievre,

We want to say thank you. We understand that no words can be adequate for your sorrow. We certainly do not want to intrude upon your privacy. As Americans we want you to know that we deeply appreciate the ultimate sacrifice your loved one has made for all of us. We also would like for you to be aware that with this letter comes our special concern and prayers for you. We are all safer because young men and women who love their country, and know the value of a free nation, are willing to put themselves in harms way, and lay down their lives to keep this nation free and safe for all of us.
Your sacrifice is also very great. We know that we can give little comfort; however, the knowledge that your loved one did not die in vain, but died in the service of our country, gives each of us a noble example of the value of life, and the responsibility of freedom. We hope this will bring pride and comfort to you.
We at Gethsemane Church believe that there is purpose to life. We send this letter with our deepest appreciation for the greatest of sacrifices, you and your loved one have given to this country. We know it is not enough, but please allow us to assure you that your loved one is not forgotten.

Very Sincerely

FrankG. Noyes (Pastor)

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.

The Wind on The Downs

“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”

(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )

Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….

“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”

I did not know Mario, but I am remembering
his service. He is my hero. !

The Other Side

i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.

can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.

i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side

the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

To the family of Mario it was a pleasure serving with him during our tour. I was the Brigade social worker and I met him and talked with him several times about his Soldiers and his presence was always felt in our Brigade. Everyone knew him. We all admired his size but his heart was even bigger. Thank GOD for him. He touched all of us.

August 17, 2007

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.

Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.

I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

“Soldier”
Written to Honor the Service of Our Fallen Soldiers

Soldiers write history, we pay the price
Many miles distant, you live the life
Entered the Battle of our own free will
Out of Duty for Country, and we’d do it still

We hope and pray that all will find peace
In God, in the flag, in memories of valor
Gone now, our pride and courage you see
“An Army of One” our motto forever

Willing to risk all for love of our Brothers
We’re still Your Soldiers…and we showed the way
Our Lives too short, now pray for the others
Lived free died Heroes in lands far away

Deep within souls all cherished our Service
We’ll always have what some never know
Courage and Honor, our names forever
Lived life with purpose…just our time to go

We march in the Heavens with Honor and Glory
Missions accomplished we fought the Good Fight
Many years from now…we’ll tell the full story
Until that Day we will live in the Light

Our lives we laid down in a land far away
Still watching o’er you this night and by day
No need to talk…just know we are with you
There in your hearts and we hear what you pray

Yes we are your soldiers
Our lives we laid down
Still We guard o’er you
Still Duty bound

Entered the Battle of our own free will
Out of Duty for Country, and we’d do it still
We’ll always have what some never know
Lived life with purpose…it was our time to go

To the family and friends of Staff Sgt. Mario J. Bievre: The pain of your loss will take a long time to subside, and days like today will be especially hard. No one can change that for you, but please be aware that millions of Americans you will never know read Mario's story, respect him as a true American hero, and share your grief.

I served with this GREAT soldier during my time in 2/502, through Kosovo and our first rotation during Operation Iraqi Freedom, and I just learned of this today, and my heart fills with sadness. Mario, you were my friend, my brother. You were there for me many many times when it was rough for me, and I always will remember you. I am now at Fort Benning, and I also ride with the Patriot Guard Riders, and every mission I ride with them from now on, I will be riding for you and Obie... Rest in peace brother

To the family of SSG. Bievre. I did not know Mario in person. My step son Joe was his good friend. Know this, Mario is a Hero. His memory will live for ever. It takes a very special person to come from another country, and to fight and make the ultimate sacrifice for this country. This nation was formed by men like Mario. You must be very proud of him, I am. I am also heartbroken for you. And to you Mario, from one vet to another, go easy my brother.

To the family of Staff Sgt. Mario J. Bievre, I have uploaded a couple of pictures, of my son with his best friend. I love Mario Bievre, whom I have never met personally, but have known for a long time, or about, through my son Joseph. They were friends, confidants, and most importantly, brothers. God bless you Mario, from an eternally grateful parent. Bruce McGraw

Brothers everlasting!

June 30, 2006

Joe and Mario forever!

June 30, 2006

June 30, 2006

To the Family of Staff Sgt. Mario J. Bievre;

My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courgeous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guestbook for the rest of my life. We lost a son 12/1/05 and it seems like yesterday.

I know first hand there are no words right now that will bring you the comfort and peace you need. Just know that you are not alone. My heart, thoughts, and prayers are with you all as you mourn this loss. We don't know each other, will probably never meet, but will forever be united in the loss of our Heroes. We have, unfortunately joined a group none of us wanted to join, an ever-growing group of families in this situation. May God grant you peace and strength to get through this and be able once again to smile at a memory rather than have only the tears that flow so easily now. To be so proud of your loved one and so saddened at the same time is a mix of emotions very difficult to deal with. I am sorry that I never knew your soldier personally, but none of these courageous men and women will be forgotten. They will never be able to be replaced, but sometime, someday your loving memories will help to sustain you. This courageous soldier will forever now be your Angel watching over you all for the rest of your lives. It's what brings me some measure of peace and comfort and I hope it will you as well. To his family and friends in pain, I offer this comfort: When you find yourself in that dark sorrowful place, think not only of how you will miss him, but instead recall the years, days, hours and minutes gifted to you by his presence. The one thing that cannot be taken from you is those wonderful memories that now will mean more than ever. If you ever want to talk, I'm only an e:mail away and would love for you to tell me more about your Hero. God Bless this courageous soldier and family.

My brother Joseph, who is my life as well as my brother Wylie, served with Mario and the way Joe talked about Bievre was like hearing about a celebrity run-in. Bievre was Joe's best friend and another brother to him and Joe would give his life for him. It turned out the other way and I feel nothing but sorrow for Joe and Bievre's family. I believe Mario is in Heaven looking down on Joe and telling him to be strong. If Bievre can hear my prayers I hope he knows I am grateful for what he has done for Joe. He will always be thought of as an addition to our family and he will never be forgotten. It is a tragedy he was taken so prematurely and so young, but he has saved countless lives. Thank you Mario. Much love and please continue to watch over my brother.

This is difficult for me to write. I was hoping to meet Mario this year, along with his wife and new baby girl. Mario and my son Joseph were the best of friends, through Rangers to the 101st. Joseph could hardly wait to get home and have me meet him. I can only gaze at the photos my son has left for me and recall the special words my son had for this amazing man. Mario saved my son's life and for this you will be forever in my prayers and memory. God Bless you Mario, a true American hero.

Mario was my son Joe's best friend, mentor and fellow Ranger and soldier with the 101st. Although we never got the chance to meet I felt as though Mario was part of my family. He will always be in our thoughts. Mario is a Hero and a very special man to all who knew him. He will always be with us and will always be watching over those he loved. Sgt. Bievre, you will Never be forgotten. God Bless You.
