Thinking of you all today! I worked with Rob at McDonalds in Woodbury, NJ when I was 15. Me, Harry, Jen and Rob were very close and had such great times together. Rob and Tommy used to stop at my house when Rob was on leave and back in New Jersey and I always look forward to seeing them. My dad loved talking to him about the military. My dad was also stationed in Georgia and in Germany He was a great man and you should all be proud of what a great son husband and father he was. But most importantly he is a hero.

It's a day that I'll never forget. The mission tested every ounce of will power and hope. Everyday I wake up I'm grateful for the life I have and I'll always remember that. Everyday I think about you and your sacrifice.

I met SSG Chiomento when I was in I was stationed in Afghanistan. I was assigned to cover an event in Pakistan and went with some infantry soldiers for about 3 weeks in May 2006. After coming back, I remember hearing there was a ramp ceremony and the PA office took some pics for the unit and we were told the name and I remembered him. Not long after, I ran into member of his unit and spoke with them briefly. It was clear they were shaken by the event. I'm so sorry this happened.

Bobby--today, your dad and I have been married 45 years--it still amazes us both!:)--of course we love and miss you especially at times like this--some day we know things will all be set right, thanks be to God and Christ, amen. Isaiah 57:1,2--I hang on to those verses with both hands, believing God used them to comfort me because of you.
Love you forever,
Mom&Dad
P.S.--to Jennifer Wright: Thank you for thinking of Bobby and of us, however I have no idea how to contact you about the memorial you mentioned. If you can find a way to contact us again, please do so, so we can get back to you.

Today, as every year on this date, we awoke with such heavy hearts as we once again realized this is the day back in 2006 that we lost our wonderful son, Bobby, to the terrorists in Afghanistan. His heroism did help spare the lives of the men in his squad that horrible day, and we could not be more proud of what he did that spared their lives.
Bobby--there's not a day that goes by that we don't think of you often--dad and I will miss you for the rest of our lives, and we know we all will be reunited some day, and for that we are eternally grateful to God.
Love forever,
Mom & Dad

I only met Robert once, he was just a toddler at the time. We had just moved into our house in the country. Your Mom was one of my favorite cousins, because she was always so beautiful and kind. I am sorry I didn't get to meet you as a man, words cannot express how much your service meant to this nation, to my family. As a mother of two sons and one daughter, and Grandma to one delightful granddaughter, I can't imagine the pain your Mother, Father, Wife and children suffered. I am so sorry... I am just glad I found my cousin, her kindness still lifts me when I am down. Love you Christine.

"The wicked flee when no one pursueth but the righteous are bold as a lion."[Proverbs 28:1 KJV]
We can't believe it's been 7 years today that Bobby was literally called out of that battle to be at home with the Lord--we miss him so terribly but know with whom he now dwells, so that is such a tremendous comfort to us both--we love you, Bobby, and will forever--not a day goes by that dad and I don't think about you & miss you so terribly.

Hello,
We would like to express our deepest condolences and also let the Chiomento Family know that we recently sent Care Packages to American troops in the war zones. Each box carried a dedication sheet that includes the name, service information and a photo of your loved one. We recognize that this is a humble tribute, but we wanted you to know that it is heartfelt and made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals in the youth hockey community and beyond. We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you strong.

Bobby, dad and I will never actually be able to believe you are really gone from our lives--it's too hard for us to completely deal with--but, I know you are safely in the hands of the Lord--these are the two verses I know God comforted me with a short while after you'd left us, and they've brought me more peace, and more comfort than anything else ever could:
Isaiah 57 (KJV)
1 The righteous perisheth, and no man layeth it to heart: and merciful men are taken away, none considering that the righteous is taken away from the evil to come.
2 He shall enter into peace: they shall rest in their beds, each one walking in his uprightness.
We both love you more than words could ever express--rest in the blessed peace of the Lord, our precious baby boy.
Love, hugs and kisses for always,
Mom & Dad

Thank you for inviting me to share the many memories of friends and relatives of this beautiful young man. Much love and caring are in this Guest Book. Is no more than your son deserves. You've done such a supurb job raising him. And he has done you proud, showing all what great parents he had. Bless you Bob and Chris. Thank you for sharing your son with all of us. Everyone was blessed by him, both the many people that were privileged to know him personally and others, like me, that met him after he went to sleep in the arms of angels, as I read in one of the postings. What a lovely thought and a wonderful place to be while waiting for the rest of us. Thank you again for all you've given us.

We were in the same unit but never spoke a word to each other. It’s weird because after two wars, six years of service, and five years of trying to forget. One of my most predominate memories of my military experience was a look from Robert Chiomento. It was only a few seconds, but we exchanged smiles one day on the firing range. I don’t understand why that single moment has stuck with me all of these years. Out of all of the moments that flicker away with time, I will never forget that one. My deepest condolences go out to your family and friends.

I knew "Chio" well and I am very saddened to hear that he has joined the ranks of the fallen! We served together at Ft. Bragg where he Re-classed/Volunteered to go 11BP. He said he wanted to be a Soldiers Soldier! A damned good man and an even better buddy!
We used to get "Hammered" at the Airborne PX and I'd listen to him talk about how much he loved his Daughter. Overall I am sure that he loved being a Soldier, an Airborne Infantry Man and a Dad. Damn, Bro! I only wish I could have said goodbye!
