Well, it's been six years today. I am in your old Medevac company and led a prayer and a small informal memorial service for you. It was tough and I got a little choked up but I wanted to do my best to keep your memory alive. I miss you buddy. To the Brown family, I hope today is a day of great memories instead of a day of frustration and sadness.

Well Brother, here we are again. One more year has gone by. I honestly thought it would get easier each year, turns out it's quite the opposite. I miss you everyday my friend. I am in your old company. All the guys that are still there that had the pleasure of working with you and being your friend still talk about you daily. I promise you I am doing everything to keep your memory alive and well. You deserve at least that much from me. I should have been there for you. We made a memorial plack in your honor and have it hanging in the entrance of our new hanger. It looks really nice. I see it every day I come into work. Well, I miss you Jeff. To Jeff's family, I hope things are getting easier. If you ever need anything I promise you all, I will do everything I can to help! You don't know me but Jeff was/is my best friend.

Sincerely,
Kevin

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.

The Wind on The Downs

“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”

(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )

Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….

“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”

I did not know Jeffery, but I am remembering
his service. He is my hero. !

The Other Side

i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.

can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.

i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side

the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

Jeff, it's been a long time since the accident. I was in Iraq when it happened and sadly enough I am still here. I miss you so much man. I have not had a chance to really let it soak in that you are gone. It pains me everyday knowing that you were in my exact situation, about to go home. You are my best friend and the most honorable person I've had the pleasure of knowing. Brother, I love and miss you so much. I wish I could have been there for you! I am sorry.

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.

Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.

I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

“Soldier”
Written to Honor the Service of Our Fallen Soldiers

Soldiers write history, we pay the price
Many miles distant, you live the life
Entered the Battle of our own free will
Out of Duty for Country, and we’d do it still

We hope and pray that all will find peace
In God, in the flag, in memories of valor
Gone now, our pride and courage you see
“An Army of One” our motto forever

Willing to risk all for love of our Brothers
We’re still Your Soldiers…and we showed the way
Our Lives too short, now pray for the others
Lived free died Heroes in lands far away

Deep within souls all cherished our Service
We’ll always have what some never know
Courage and Honor, our names forever
Lived life with purpose…just our time to go

We march in the Heavens with Honor and Glory
Missions accomplished we fought the Good Fight
Many years from now…we’ll tell the full story
Until that Day we will live in the Light

Our lives we laid down in a land far away
Still watching o’er you this night and by day
No need to talk…just know we are with you
There in your hearts and we hear what you pray

Yes we are your soldiers
Our lives we laid down
Still We guard o’er you
Still Duty bound

Entered the Battle of our own free will
Out of Duty for Country, and we’d do it still
We’ll always have what some never know
Lived life with purpose…it was our time to go

To the family and friends of SGT Jeff Brown. I served with Jeff in Germany and was his first platoon leader. I watched Jeff transform over the period of three years from a new soldier fresh out of AIT, to a seasoned mechanic with great leadership potential. Jeff's sense of humor coupled with his strong work ethic made work fun even in tough times.
We mourn the loss of an outstanding Soldier, Leader, and great friend. We hang our heads briefly to remember Jeff's contributions both on and off the Battlefield. We then hold our heads high and strengthen our resolve to train, fight and win to ensure Jeff's death is not in vein.
Our country will be forever in debt to the family of Jeff Brown. Jeff gave the ultimate sacrifice, fighting to give people the same freedom that we hold so sacred.

Jeff you are gone but never forgotten!

It has been difficult to bring myself to the point where I could read this guestbook. It is, again, a major emotional undertaking to actually sign it. I place Jeff on the short list of my closest friends. He was an unwaiveringly loyal and comforting friend to me and my family. In Germany, Jeff was brother to me, rare friend to my wife and uncle to my son. Like all of you, there is a noticable void in my life now that Jeff is gone. Even though I haven't seen him since he left Germany, we kept in close contact and planned to meet up as soon as we were both free men, which was only months away. We even talked about moving close together so our kids could play together and we could go drinking after work on Friday nights. My pain from losing Jeff is immeasurable, but I realize that I am lucky to have known him in the tragically short time he had here. And for all those who feel the same, let us never forget Jeff. He lives through us. I miss you, JB.

Military Parents,

Grayce (Sarah) Frink

September 2, 2006

Growing up in Trinity County it is always aparent that everyone knows everyone. But too frequently it is forgotten how the seemingly-huge world outside of the Alps is not really much larger. Jeff touched many lives inside and outside of Trinity County--his friendships and relationships as well as his heroic actions heeding the call to military duty will forever shape a piece of this world. He, along with his entire family will also always be a treasured part of Trinity County. As a graduate of Trinity High myself, I was blessed enough to be around Tim and Katie frequently--my heart goes out to them, their parents, and all family or anyone else close to Jeff.

Stay strong and keep faith. Much love always.

Much like everyone else, I served with Jeff in Heidelberg, Germany. Words cannot express the feelings I had when I heard the news. I always remember the cheesy grin and the witty comebacks Jeff always seem to have at the right moment. I will also remember the kind of person Jeff was. He was a great Man and I am surely going to miss him.

To the family of Jeffery Brown,

I would like to extend my deepest sympathy for the loss of Jeff. During the time I worked with him, there were two things that I noticed about him that I will always remember about him. First, he had a great sense of humor that seemed to permeate everyone he happened to be around. I was able to watch him grow from a raw AIT graduate to one of the most dedicated crew chiefs I have served with. Second, he kept a focus on the mission that served as an inspiration to the younger soldiers. Whether it was a last minute mission, or just another day, Jeff always accomplished the mission without complaint. I wish to thank Jeff's family for the honor and the privlege of serving with such a soldier and such a man. We'll miss you Jeff!

Honorably He Stood

By Tina Hill

For Jeff

It was a Soldiers time to fight.

He served morning until night.

Keeping helicopters up in flight.

The work he done was good.

He did everything he should.

As for our country, honorably he stood.

He’s coming home today.

He’s coming home to stay.

And on our hero’s chest, a flag will lay.

We missed him while at war.

Now home, we’ll miss him more.

But we’ll remember what his sacrifice was for.

Our flags are at half mass.

A great man has just passed.

This soldier here has finished with his task.

He’s coming home today.

He’s coming home to stay.

And on our hero’s chest, a flag will lay.

To the Wife and Family of Jeff,

There are no words to explain the suffering. There are no comforts. We may live sad lives or we can celebrate the times we had. Jeff would have wanted us to celebrate! Jeff was a caring loving man that served his Country and we should be proud of his dedication. He had parents and he had a wife and all are in pain, all are sad, and all have been cheated time with Jeff. I pray that this entire family will join together to Celebrate the life of Jeff Brown. He is a Hero! He will be missed.

My heart goes out to the family of Jeffery S. Brown and to the citizens of Trinity Center in their loss. I wish I could say or write something that would make your loss easier but I know I can't.

August 14, 2006

To the Family of Sgt. Jeffery S. Brown:

My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courgeous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guestbook for the rest of my life. We lost a son 12/1/05 and it seems like yesterday.

I know first hand there are no words right now that will bring you the comfort and peace you need. Just know that you are not alone. My heart, thoughts, and prayers are with you all as you mourn this loss. We don't know each other, will probably never meet, but will forever be united in the loss of our Heroes. We have, unfortunately joined a group none of us wanted to join, an ever-growing group of families in this situation. May God grant you peace and strength to get through this and be able once again to smile at a memory rather than have only the tears that flow so easily now. To be so proud of your loved one and so saddened at the same time is a mix of emotions very difficult to deal with. I am sorry that I never knew your soldier personally, but none of these courageous men and women will be forgotten. They will never be able to be replaced, but sometime, someday your loving memories will help to sustain you. This courageous soldier will forever now be your Angel watching over you all for the rest of your lives. It's what brings me some measure of peace and comfort and I hope it will you as well. To his family and friends in pain, I offer this comfort: When you find yourself in that dark sorrowful place, think not only of how you will miss him, but instead recall the years, days, hours and minutes gifted to you by his presence. The one thing that cannot be taken from you is those wonderful memories that now will mean more than ever. If you ever want to talk, I'm only an e:mail away and would love for you to tell me more about your Hero. God Bless this courageous soldier and family.

My deepest sympathy to the family of Sgt. Jeffery S. Brown, with a Multitude of Thanks for this Hero's Service to our Country and for our Freedom.

Hoping you can feel the thoughts of caring and support that surround you today, as this Country mourns with you, for someone very precious to you, who is a Hero to all of us.

Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and He shall sustain thee.
