Hello,
We realize that we are very late to express our deepest condolences, but we wanted to let you and your family and friends know that we have made a small donation to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital to honor and remember Jeffrey S. Loa US Army Staff Sergeant.
We recognize that this is a humble tribute, but we wanted you to know that it is heartfelt and made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals across the American youth hockey community and beyond. We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you safe and strong.
Sincerely,

There is not a day that goes by that I do not think of you. Your big smile could change the day and improve my mood no matter how bad I was feeling or what was causing me grief at the time. You were one of the first people I met when I was assigned to Aco and you made the whole ordeal of dealing with it so much easier. I miss you bro.

Jeffrey Sifoa Loa was born August 14, 1974 in Pago Pago American Samoa to Duke & Vaisa (Ofoia) Loa. He married Mary Margaret Renfer on March 23, 2005 in Las Vegas Nevada. He died in Iraq August 16, 2006 and was laid to rest near his parents home in Pago Pago on September 2, 2006. Mary told me that Jeffrey liked to watch musicals and that he was teaching her to play the piano. She still has their big orange cat Sunny who is spoiled rotten. They adopted him from the Humane Society while they were both still in the Army. I think of Jeffrey often and I am thankful that Mary had him in her life. Most important to a mother in law, he was very kind and told me he liked my cooking and also insisted on doing the dishes.

Ssg Loa was the first person to talk to me when I was sent to his company to be a medic during a field rotation in Graf 05. His smile was always present...and he made the day just that much easier, when times were tough. His men, and peers loved him. I was/am saddened by the loss of this everyday hero.

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.
The Wind on The Downs
“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”
(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )
Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….
“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”
I did not know Jeffrey, but I am remembering
his service. He is my hero. !

The Other Side
i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.
can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.
i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.
it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side
the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

I met Jeff Years ago when I was married to a man in his unit at Ft Lewis, He is also the one who told me about Jeff's passing, I am truley sorry the world has lost such a great soul. Tonight I was remembering how I use to make home cooked meals for all the guys who lived in the barracks and were in my Husbands unit. For Jeff I made him what he told me was his favorite, BBQ ribs, mashed potates and corn that was the first time I had enough leftover to send some home with him so he could heat them up for a midnight snack :). I will forever keep you in my heart you were a great person and I am blessed that you touched my life the way you did.. Thank you for being the great person you were and still are in many people's hearts... I would like to tell Jeff's Family I am sorry you lost such a great person and hope you talk of him often so others may know his greatness.

Loa was a special person not only to me but also my wife at the time. He was so full of life, I loved going to the field with him. You never needed TV or a radio. He would just stand on his bunk and start talking like the Rock or Hulk hogan. He was a really wonderful person and I will miss him. From the Anderson family we love you

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.
Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.
I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.
REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

To The Loa Family,
My heart felt condolences. I just found out the news. Your son was a good man, he always had a smile on his face. I had the great pleasure to serve with him. I met him in 96 we went to school to become water dawgs as they say. Than we were stationed in Savannah together. He always lit up the room when he walked in. He was as big as bear but he had a huge heart. I will greatly miss him. May he rest in peace. One day we will all meet up again and be able to see his huge smile and hear his laugh that made you laugh with him. He just knew how to bring people together. Thank you for bringing such a beautiful person into the world.

“Soldier”
Written to Honor the Service of Our Fallen Soldiers
Soldiers write history, we pay the price
Many miles distant, you live the life
Entered the Battle of our own free will
Out of Duty for Country, and we’d do it still
We hope and pray that all will find peace
In God, in the flag, in memories of valor
Gone now, our pride and courage you see
“An Army of One” our motto forever
Willing to risk all for love of our Brothers
We’re still Your Soldiers…and we showed the way
Our Lives too short, now pray for the others
Lived free died Heroes in lands far away
Deep within souls all cherished our Service
We’ll always have what some never know
Courage and Honor, our names forever
Lived life with purpose…just our time to go
We march in the Heavens with Honor and Glory
Missions accomplished we fought the Good Fight
Many years from now…we’ll tell the full story
Until that Day we will live in the Light
Our lives we laid down in a land far away
Still watching o’er you this night and by day
No need to talk…just know we are with you
There in your hearts and we hear what you pray
Yes we are your soldiers
Our lives we laid down
Still We guard o’er you
Still Duty bound
Entered the Battle of our own free will
Out of Duty for Country, and we’d do it still
We’ll always have what some never know
Lived life with purpose…it was our time to go

my most sincerest condolences. I met Jeff when I was still a member of A/1/35 Armor and Jeffrey was a soldier new to the unit after we had returned from Iraq in 2004. He always struck me as a good soldier and leader. unfortunately I never had a chance to see him grow in those respects.

Dear Loa Family,
Even though we have never met I feel as if we are a part of a "family". My daughter's fiancee was killed in Iraq by an IED on Oct. 3, 2005. It is my prayer that you will feel God holding as close to His heart as He has held my family these past months. May you feel His peace and comfort as you face the difficult days ahead.

To the Family of Staff Sgt. Jeffrey S. Loa:
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courgeous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guestbook for the rest of my life. We lost a son 12/1/05 and it seems like yesterday.
I know first hand there are no words right now that will bring you the comfort and peace you need. Just know that you are not alone. My heart, thoughts, and prayers are with you all as you mourn this loss. We don't know each other, will probably never meet, but will forever be united in the loss of our Heroes. We have, unfortunately joined a group none of us wanted to join, an ever-growing group of families in this situation. May God grant you peace and strength to get through this and be able once again to smile at a memory rather than have only the tears that flow so easily now. To be so proud of your loved one and so saddened at the same time is a mix of emotions very difficult to deal with. I am sorry that I never knew your soldier personally, but none of these courageous men and women will be forgotten. They will never be able to be replaced, but sometime, someday your loving memories will help to sustain you. This courageous soldier will forever now be your Angel watching over you all for the rest of your lives. It's what brings me some measure of peace and comfort and I hope it will you as well. To his family and friends in pain, I offer this comfort: When you find yourself in that dark sorrowful place, think not only of how you will miss him, but instead recall the years, days, hours and minutes gifted to you by his presence. The one thing that cannot be taken from you is those wonderful memories that now will mean more than ever. If you ever want to talk, I'm only an e:mail away and would love for you to tell me more about your Hero. God Bless this courageous soldier and family.
