Hello,
We apologize for being so late in expressing our deepest condolences to you and your family. We want you to know that we will be sending Care Packages to deployed troops this holiday season and several of these will be dedicated to your loved one. Each package will carry the name, photo, service branch, rank and hometown of Jeremiah S. Cole US Army Corporal.
We realize that this is a small tribute, but we do this with all respect and sincerity and we want you to know that it is made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals from across the American youth hockey community, their families, friends and others who support our mission.
We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you safe and strong.
Sincerely,
Charlie Gili & Family

I was one of the interpreters (John) in FOB the day Corp. Cole left us. I will never forget it. Corporal Cole's B Hut was right across from me, so when I went to get Chow he will be outside with a few other Army guys. Cole and I did not go outside as much as other guys. I asked him who bought the fancy colored sneakers for him, I think he said his wife from Germany or somewhere that I don't remember. We would get rocketed almost everyday in FOB Bermel so he would always watch me and ask if we will get attacked. At that time I had a 6 year old daughter and he would mention his little baby. I have a lot to say about him and never ever forget his smile. They asked both of us to go on that mission, but they only took him. I wish I was there with him. I still remember the Radio conversation of his death like it was yesterday. The whole FOB Went into deep mourning. I went to the Afghan interpreters B Hut it was silence.
Miss you Corp Jeremiah S. Cole

I was at FOB Bermel when this happened. I was with 18 other men doing security for the engineers building a road for the Afghan people. We got called out after the IED went off to provide security for Cole's unit.
He was deeply loved by everyone there. I didn't know him personally, but was very saddened by his loss. I know he's still above protecting those who he loves.

Cole,
I never did get the chance to thank you when we were in the field for that time you loaned me your extra blanket knowing that my gear was mixed somewhere with the other vehicles and that soon it would start to pour down 'cats and dogs' on us that night. I had only gone out of the wire with you guys for only but a few times and being the Husky driver for you guys was the most scariest moments for me, till you and your team started talking to me and taking me in to your guys' group things started to feel all right. Anyhow, that night as I sat alone in the Husky and prayed to God to watch over us and to help me stay warm as the night went by you had climbed up the back of my vehicle and startled me when you knocked on top of the roof doors and you definitely made my night when you handed me your blanket and said "Here you go sarge..." I remember telling you that I could not take your blanket and that I would be fine, but you said it was your extra one and handed it to me smiling. Though the lighting and rain hit all around us in that dark night you brought peace in my heart and mind my dear good friend. It was from that day on that I knew you were a good kind person and that your Unit had a great caring soldier. I also remember the times when I would see you at the gym and you had the yellow Nike tennis shoes, you were the only that had them at that base and you even showed me how comfortable they could be out there in that rocky FOB.
The day you went away my friend I was devestated because I remember how you and I had talked about our family back home and how much we loved them and longed to see them again. I knew that you were a great family man and a great dad too. Till this day I struggle to believe that you are gone, and it's been many times since that day that I keep you and your family in my prayers and I just pray that they are doing well too.
My dear friend, 'Thank You.' Thank you for your kindness and being a friend. You will be missed and may God give you and your family nothing but the very best.
I only wish I had told you this while you were still with us.

In Memory of Jeremiah ~ (Debra Estep)
August 16, 2008
Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.
The Wind on The Downs
“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”
(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )
Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….
“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”
I did not know Jeremiah, but I am remembering
his service. He is my hero. !

The Other Side
i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.
can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.
i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.
it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side
the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

I don't know if you'll ever see this because I just found this site, but my son, Josh, served with your son in the 2-87th in Bermel. Josh never wears jewelry but a watch, but when he was here on leave, he wore a bracelet bearing Jeremiah's name. He never took it off. Jeremiah will long be remembered and loved by many you will never know.

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.
Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.
I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.
REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

“Soldier”
Written to Honor the Service of Our Fallen Soldiers
Soldiers write history, we pay the price
Many miles distant, you live the life
Entered the Battle of our own free will
Out of Duty for Country, and we’d do it still
We hope and pray that all will find peace
In God, in the flag, in memories of valor
Gone now, our pride and courage you see
“An Army of One” our motto forever
Willing to risk all for love of our Brothers
We’re still Your Soldiers…and we showed the way
Our Lives too short, now pray for the others
Lived free died Heroes in lands far away
Deep within souls all cherished our Service
We’ll always have what some never know
Courage and Honor, our names forever
Lived life with purpose…just our time to go
We march in the Heavens with Honor and Glory
Missions accomplished we fought the Good Fight
Many years from now…we’ll tell the full story
Until that Day we will live in the Light
Our lives we laid down in a land far away
Still watching o’er you this night and by day
No need to talk…just know we are with you
There in your hearts and we hear what you pray
Yes we are your soldiers
Our lives we laid down
Still We guard o’er you
Still Duty bound
Entered the Battle of our own free will
Out of Duty for Country, and we’d do it still
We’ll always have what some never know
Lived life with purpose…it was our time to go

The Cole family will always been in my prayers and thoughts. I served with Scott in Afghanistan, he was a great a loving person to be around, he always brightened what ever room he was in. We grew up only 18 miles from each other and I had only meet him a couple of times before he came to New York. He will be missed by ever here at B Co 2-87. Thanks for the memories Scott.

I would like to give my deepest sympathy for the loss of such a wonderful husband, father and son. Although I only met Cpl. Cole a couple times, my husband had the honor of working right alongside him. He was not only a coworker, but a friend and brother. We both mourn in the loss of yet another soldier. He made it quite clear how much he loved his wife and new son. My husband, Sgt. Emerick, and I will have your family in our thoughts and prayers as you go through this rough time.

He was an amazing person, who loved his wife and son more than anything in the world. My heart goes out to your family. Your loss is one that I can not imagine. To the Family of Cpl. Jeremiah S. Cole:
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courgeous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guestbook for the rest of my life. We lost a son 12/1/05 and it seems like yesterday.
I know first hand there are no words right now that will bring you the comfort and peace you need. Just know that you are not alone. My heart, thoughts, and prayers are with you all as you mourn this loss. We don't know each other, will probably never meet, but will forever be united in the loss of our Heroes. We have, unfortunately joined a group none of us wanted to join, an ever-growing group of families in this situation. May God grant you peace and strength to get through this and be able once again to smile at a memory rather than have only the tears that flow so easily now. To be so proud of your loved one and so saddened at the same time is a mix of emotions very difficult to deal with. I am sorry that I never knew your soldier personally, but none of these courageous men and women will be forgotten. They will never be able to be replaced, but sometime, someday your loving memories will help to sustain you. This courageous soldier will forever now be your Angel watching over you all for the rest of your lives. It's what brings me some measure of peace and comfort and I hope it will you as well. To his family and friends in pain, I offer this comfort: When you find yourself in that dark sorrowful place, think not only of how you will miss him, but instead recall the years, days, hours and minutes gifted to you by his presence. The one thing that cannot be taken from you is those wonderful memories that now will mean more than ever. If you ever want to talk, I'm only an e:mail away and would love for you to tell me more about your Hero. God Bless this courageous soldier and family.

Thank you giving all of us in this nation the ultimate sacrifice that a family can make in order to preserve our precious freedom!
I wish I could ease your pain and sorrow. Your entire family and Scott are in my heart and prayers.
God Bless you, Scott! You are loved and honored by your buddies in Afghanistan that will carry you forth in your mission with you in their hearts.

My son, PFC Chris Zaspel, is a member of Scott's unit, and a good friend.
I send to your entire family my heartfelt condolences! I wish I had some magic words that could ease your pain right now.
I hope that the memories and thoughts of Scott will bring you comfort through the difficult times ahead.
Know that Scott was loved and highly respected by his fellow soldiers of the 2-87th.
I will hold you all and Scott in my thoughts and prayers.
“Perhaps they are not the stars
but rather openings in Heaven
where the love of our dear ones
pours through and shines down
upon us to let us know that
they are happy…..”
Scott is a hero to all America and we honor him!
God Bless you Scott, may you rest in peace and know that your buddies will carry on your mission.

My Deepest and most heartfelt sympathy goes out to the family of Cpl. Jeremiah S. Cole.
The price this young hero and his family have paid for this country and our freedom, WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN.
So much thanks to be given, for these young heroes, for their Courage, Service and Dedication. May he rest safely in God's Mighty Hands and may God's Loving Comfort and Grace be with the Cole family.
I am the sister of such a young hero, who made the Ultimate Sacrifice in Vietnam, many years ago.
For we know that if our earthly house, this tent, is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.
2 Corinthians 5:1
May the memories of your loved one live in your heart always.
Softly and slowly....
Time heals...
