Today I found your page again. It has been awhile. sitting here thinking how it is almost 10 years since you left, and now I'm preparing for your Dad (SSGT.Arnold W. Stewart USAR retiree) to be joining you soon. Your Father has been diagnosed with Stage 4 Liver and Lung Cancer and he was neither a drinker or a smoker. All I can say is you two was so much alike and now Malachi is falling into that same mold and it brings my heart joy to know that you will be there to greet him. We will be together for 43 years married for 38 in January 2016 and I'm going to miss him. So you take good care of him until I get there

I never had the privilege of of meeting Ssgt Williams but my brother served with him and was there that fateful August day. My brother spoke so highly of Ssgt Williams early on and respected him immensely. The loss of Ssgt Williams had a huge impact on my brother and I will never forget it. I moved to the east coast two years ago and was able to visit Arlington and pay my respects and I am so glad that I could.

Seven simple letters would tell me all that I need to know about this fine American - USMC & EOD. The heartfelt words penned by SSgt William's son Malachi tell me that he was a wonderful father, and other words left by those who love him show a man who was kind, considerate, loyal and caring. America, along with his family and friends, his community and the USMC are the poorer for his passing but he leaves behind a legacy that will not easily be forgotten.
God bless you SSgt Williams, your wife and son and all those who miss your presence in their lives. Semper Fi.

IT'S THAT TIME OF YEAR AGAIN BRO I KNOW YOUR IN HEAVEN HAVING A "HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY". AND WE DOWN HERE ON EARTH KEEPING IT GOING. YOUR NAME, YOUR LEGACY, STILL RINGS "NEWLY" AS WE KNOW IT, "SSGT" OR MAYBE JUST DWAYNE. A GOOD DUDE, COOL, CALM, FUNNY, A OUT OF THIS WORLD LEADER, AND LOTS OF OTHER GREAT THINGS PEOPLE SAY ABOUT YOU. BUT FOR RIGHT NOW THESE FEW WILL HAVE TO DO. BECAUSE IF I KEEP IT GOING I DON'T THINK IT'LL ALL FIT. FOR WITH YOU PEOPLE HAVE NOTHING BUT GREAT THINGS TO SAY WHEN THEY SPEAK OF YOU. EACH STORY IS DIFFERENT, UNIQUE IN IT'S ON WAY. WITH NO ONE TELLING THE SAME STROY IT RARELY HAPPENS THAT WAY. JUST TELLS YOU HOW GOOD OF A MEN YOUR THOUGHT TO BE. BUT YOU ALREADY, NO THAT. YOU THE MAN BRO, YOU THE MAN. SO WITH THAT BEING SAID I END OFF WITH A SALUTE TO YOU SSGT. WE MISS YOU, I MISS YOU, WE WILL NEVER FORGET YOU, WE LOVE YOU,AND WE'LL ALWAYS REMEMBER YOUR SMILE TO KEEP US FROM BEING DOWN.
SEE YOU WHEN I GET THERE....UNTIL THEN WATCH OVER ME, AS I KEEP YOU IN MY HEART.

Someone give this message to his family please.
I had the distinct honor of serving next to Dwayne for 3 and 1/2 months as part of his security team. I was pulled from his team to assist an other team on 7 August 2006. I was completely devistated when I heard of his passing. SSGT Williams was, and forver will be, a hero to me. There were several days that I felt might be my last and just when I was ready to give up I would turn to see SSGT grinning away ready to take on the world. It was his ability to smile even on the worst days that made me realize I couldn't let the bad days take me. Further more his technical skills saved my life as well as the lives of countless marines and soldiers.
I added a picture of him I took in June or July of 2006. Its my favorite because he had just turned from his regular grinning face to one with his tounge sticking out slightly. I always laughed when i saw him doing this.
I have tried to send this message countless times but I have never felt what I was saying was enough. I don't think I could ever understand the pain you have all had to endore. I know that nothing I can say will truely make it easier or less painful. I also know there is no way I could ever really tell you how gratefull I am to have been able to serve along side of SSGT Dwayne Williams.
RIP Big Willy D

I met you when we were young marines....me you and corey lol. me and you conected like brothers. i always thought it to be so weird how three people could be so close lol. i remember the last minute shirts we use to make to wear lol, and i remember corey always on the sideline dictating what philly symbol he wanted on his shirt. I would brag to people about you all the time. my aunt and uncle would ask about you and your family. they were there at your funeral in place of my absense. i never go to funerals man...i didnt even go to my grandmothers...i jus cant take it i guess. but this was the defining moment in our lives. you called me one day from iraq....i think it was your second tour. i remember asking you were you saved and filled with the holy spirit/ you paused for a moment.....and said how you had been to church and everything in the past, then you said "NO" we talked about jesus for a minute....then you excepted jesus as your personal savior and thanked me:) heaven is a beautiful place isnt it lil brother? im sure ill find out one day..love yu buddy.....

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.
The Wind on The Downs
“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”
(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )
Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….
“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”
I did not know Dwayne, but I am remembering
his service. He is my hero. !

The Other Side
i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.
can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.
i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.
it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side
the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

I was apart of 3/2 the unit SSGT. Williams was supporting. This is how I met him. One night we were on patrol and called in a Ied, after waiting for an hour, and another hour went by. EOD told us it was water pumps. So the next day we really did find an Ied in the field right next to the bridge. We cordoned of the Ied. So SSGT, Williams team comes out, and my self and my Squad leader told him it is over there. He was so confident. Anyway some one fired shots, and I am looking for cover, and I see SSGT Williams cool, and calm not even thinking about the shots. He send the robot in there. Then he walked up to the IED cut the wire. He then found out that there was secondary devices. (1) pressure sensitive.. He later took it back analyzed and took photos of the Ied. It was the 1st Ied we found in our company and maybe the Battalion. Two weeks goes by and I heard he died. He was a brave man, and I respected him. Him and his EOD team saved countless other Marines Lives from 3rd Bn 2nd Marines.

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.
Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.
I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

SSgt Williams is my Hero! So many Marines are alive because of him and the team he lead. I watched him work, and his courage and professionalism were unmatched. My tankers loved him and his team, and always knew we were in good hands when he was on scene. I thank God every day I get to work with men of such character. Some say this world is a lesser place because he is gone. I say it is a better one because he was here.

“Paid in Full”
To Honor The Service of Fallen and Injured Marines
Marines through and through, they paid the price
Six thousand miles away, we live the life
For which they paid with their blood, spirits and bodies
We will never forget what they paid in full
We hope and we pray that somehow their loved ones find comfort
In God, in the flag, in the memory of their loved ones’ bravery
They’re gone now but we see them still…proud, strong, willing
Covering each other’s backs… courageous, moving forward
What kind of love did they have for us to be willing
To give it all for the Black, White, Jew, Christian, Muslim?
We don’t comprehend but we honor you now and forever
You are Our Marines…some living…some not
Forever in our hearts we will cherish your lives
Lives too short yet immortal they’ll be
Highest brotherhood of the Few, the Proud
They stand at attention, and we gaze with awe
Some know their names not, but our admiration for them
Flows limitless within us, between us
They sacrificed their limbs or their lives
Freedom still rings, a soft sound across the miles
It tolls slowly; all of creation takes note
Of the lives that were lost for people unknown
Out of sight but not lost; forever among us
The starched blues marching straight
Toward the place where we will meet them
Many years from now…how we loved them…
Well done beloved Brothers and Sisters…You’ve paid it in full
Always Faithful Marines, You Have Paid it in Full

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

Dear Williams FAmily,
Even though we have never met I feel as if we are a part of a "family". My daughter's fiancee was killed in Iraq by an IED on Oct. 3, 2005. It is my prayer that you will feel God holding as close to His heart as He has held my family these past months. May you feel His peace and comfort as you face the difficult days ahead.

My
heartfelt sympathy to the Williams family in the loss of Dwayne. I did
not know Dwayne, but my heart is broken and I am saddened for your loss
of such a fine young person and hero. May God bring you peace in your
heart as you reflect on all the wonderful memories you hold so close.
Please know that you are in my heart and prayers. Dwayne you are my
hero and you will NEVER be forgotten. I live close to ARLINGTON
NATIONAL CEMETERY and visit there weekly. While I was at ANC yesterday
I attended Dwayne's funeral service. I promise you each time I am there
I will stop by and visit/honor Dwayne. I send each of you a hug from
the most inner part of my heart.
Love and Peace
Tom

To the Family of Staff Sgt. Dwayne E. Williams:
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courgeous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guestbook for the rest of my life. We lost a son 12/1/05 and it seems like yesterday.
I know first hand there are no words right now that will bring you the comfort and peace you need. Just know that you are not alone. My heart, thoughts, and prayers are with you all as you mourn this loss. We don't know each other, will probably never meet, but will forever be united in the loss of our Heroes. We have, unfortunately joined a group none of us wanted to join, an ever-growing group of families in this situation. May God grant you peace and strength to get through this and be able once again to smile at a memory rather than have only the tears that flow so easily now. To be so proud of your loved one and so saddened at the same time is a mix of emotions very difficult to deal with. I am sorry that I never knew your soldier personally, but none of these courageous men and women will be forgotten. They will never be able to be replaced, but sometime, someday your loving memories will help to sustain you. This courageous soldier will forever now be your Angel watching over you all for the rest of your lives. It's what brings me some measure of peace and comfort and I hope it will you as well. To his family and friends in pain, I offer this comfort: When you find yourself in that dark sorrowful place, think not only of how you will miss him, but instead recall the years, days, hours and minutes gifted to you by his presence. The one thing that cannot be taken from you is those wonderful memories that now will mean more than ever. If you ever want to talk, I'm only an e:mail away and would love for you to tell me more about your Hero. God Bless this courageous soldier and family.

To Dwayne's family and friends-
My family and I are praying for you and your family during this difficult time. We send our deepest empathy as we lost our Marine on 11/30/05 in Fallujah. We are comforted to know that our Marines are serving their country with such honor and bravery. We are so proud of our Marines and all of our other service men and women for all that they have done and continue to do to keep us safe and to give us the freedom we have that so many take for granted.
They are true Heroes and need to always be remembered for their selflessness and sacrifice to better our world. We will forever be united in the loss of our heros. We are so sorry for your loss and hope our words will ease some of the pain, and maybe fill some of your emptiness.
