Troy you are still in our thoughts daily. Chelsea was in a parade and had to make a poster of a hometown hero. She made her poster in memory of you. That is her only hero she said. We miss you greatly but know that you always have our back. Love you,

Troy, I think of you often. When I am faced with a difficult task, when I see the U.S. Flag, when I hear Military based songs, every parade, each Veterans Day, Memorial Day, the month of October and many other times. One person does touch many others lives. Bless you for being an outstanding example of a live well lived and one who gave all.

I still haven't forgotten that day that I heard about what happened. We became pretty good friends playing basketball during lunch, running track, and running cross-country together. We were always laughing, having fun, and competing strongly. I won't forget those times and what happened and your committment hasn't went unnoticed.

I miss you more and more everyday Troy boy! Not a single day goes by that I don't think about you. I wish my girls would have had the chance to meet you, and that my parents could see you one more time. I'll never forget you, or your sacrifice. I find small comfort in the fact that you believed in what you were doing, and you were happy. Love you for forever!

Not a day goes by with out a thought of you. There are days that I still think you are here messing with my mind especially when the lights go out for no reason., you fixed that remember... It scares the crap out of me every time! Especially because all I have to do is go to the nasty basement and trip the breaker. I think that's your way of making me laugh...
Since your passing you have made me realize a few things. Life is to short to stay mad, be strong and stand up for what you believe in and be proud of who you are. Some days are harder for me to accomplish these ideas but I just remember you, and think "I can do it."
You are greatly missed, regardless of the years that go by. I wish you were here to see Chelsea ride her bike, run for student council representative at school and show her first heifer. But I know you are here in spirit. (Please don't let the heifer get away from her in the show ring!)
Thank you for all the memories and for serving are beloved country, I am very proud of you. You are deeply missed but never forgotten.
Love you and miss you,

The Wind on The Downs
“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”
(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )
Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….
“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”
I did not know Troy, but I am remembering
his service and sacrifice. He is my hero. !

The Other Side
i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.
can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.
i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.
it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side
the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

I know I’m only a civilian
And I don’t even know if it’s allowed.
But I salute you; allow me the honor

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.
Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.
I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

“Paid in Full”
In Honor of The War Against Terrorism’s Fallen and Injured Marines
Marines through and through, they paid the price
Six thousand miles away, we live the life
For which they paid with their blood, spirits and bodies
We will never forget what they paid in full
We hope and we pray that somehow their loved ones find comfort
In God, in the flag, in the memory of their loved ones’ bravery
They’re gone now but we see them still…proud, strong, willing
Covering each other’s backs… courageous, moving forward
What kind of love did they have for us to be willing
To give it all for the Black, White, Jew, Christian, Muslim?
We don’t comprehend but we honor you now and forever
You are Our Marines…some living…some not
Forever in our minds we will cherish your lives
Lives too short yet immortal they’ll be
Highest brotherhood of the few, the proud
They stand at attention, and we gaze with awe
Some know their names not, but our admiration for them
Flows limitless within us, between us
They sacrificed their limbs or their lives
Freedom still rings, a soft sound across the miles
It tolls slowly; all of creation takes note
Of the lives that were lost for people unknown
Out of sight but not lost; forever among us
The starched blues marching straight
Toward the place where we will meet them
Many years from now…how we loved them…
Well done beloved Brothers and Sisters…You’ve paid it in full
Always Faithful Marines, You Have Paid it in Full

Its never good when another Marine dies, but it really hits home when they are from your hometown. Knowing that Marines and other armed forces members die everyday, you never think it will happen in your town. I just found out today what happened. Troy and I grew up together just two houses apart in Grand Ledge. He was a good friend. I had found Troy after looking him up on myspace after not seeing each other for about 13 yrs. We had emailed each other back and forth for a few months. I know from the emails I recieved that Troy truly believed in what he was doing in Iraq. He was proud to be helping people and serving with the Marines. We will all miss Troy very much. God Bless the Nealey family in their time of sorrow.

A TRUE AMERICAN SOLDIER USE TO CALL ME MOM!
Troy may you always know that the laughter we once shared will forever be in my HEART.
Troy may the smile that has crossed your face always warm our HEARTS.
Troy the Love that we shared will always be true to who we really are.
I can see you walking down the aisle to where we are wanting to help us.
I can see your smiling face as you are working on one of the animals.
I can picture you in your purple windbreaker jacket and black windbreaker pants.
I can hear you say "Hey old man need some help"
I can hear you say Hi Mom.
I can hear you tell your friends that this is one of my other Mom's.
You are truly An American Soldier my friend/son.
You will always be in my HEART and PRAYERS.
You will always have a spot on my wall with your smiling face.
My love for you will forever be as it is today.
May GOD Bless us all as we grieve for the one that made us SMILE.
For all the laughs that we had and all that we will as we remember you.
Your memory will live on and we will do you PROUD as we share our memories of you with the ones that we LOVE and that you have LOVED.
Rest in Peace my wonderful FRIEND/SON may you bring laughter to the faces of everyone as we remember you.

My Dear Friends,
Know that our thoughts and prayers have not weakened since that very memorable service on Veteran's Day, for Troy. I awake thinking of you and go to bed thinking of how you are coping. I feel so badly for you and gain strength in knowing that our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, has received the soul of Troy and he rests in peace.
Know that so many care and have not forgotten Troy and the grief that your family is experiencing.
Good night my dear friends and family.
And, yes, Aunt Nola, I am now going to bed.

Dear Nealey Family,
Even though we have never met I feel as if we are a part of a "family". My daughter's fiancee was killed by an IED in Iraq on Oct. 3, 2005. It is my prayer that you will feel God holding close to His heart as He has held my family this past year. May you know His peace and comfort as you face the difficult days ahead.

I've known Troy for a long time, he was, as I'm sure many feel, like a brother to me. I feel as if I've been living these last few weeks in a dream. The news of his death came as such a shock. He was always cracking jokes, and he almost always had a smile on his face. I will never forget him, he will always be in my heart. I love you Troy.

Please know that our thoughts are with you and your loved ones during this time of loss. You are in our prayers and may your heart mend and your memories stay strong.
You have more strength and courage than you may realize, but it's there as it was passed on to your brave son and I know that your great strength, family and friends will help you at this time of loss.

Although I attended the services Saturday, I did not know Troy. However, my son came with me. My son served 8 years in the USMC. His service ended 11/10/2005. He was not in the same platoon, but he used to hang out with Troy and others back by the dumpsters at the rear of Reserve HQ in Lansing. My daddy is a WWII Marine. I came because I wanted the family to know that we know we are free because they sacrifice. We are safe because they are willing to die for their country. How could we not come to pay our repects. Thank you for raising such a strong fine son. God Bless you and your family and heal your hearts.
My heart aches for you.

I served with Troy in C co. 1/24 from January 2005 until October 2005. I remember him well, as he ws so outgoing. Very funny, good to be around. Every unit has its clown, and Troy seemed to be 1st Platoon's. He however, was an outstanding Marine, and I am proud to have known him.

Our heartfelt sympathy and prayers go out to the family of Marine Lance Cpl. Troy Nealey. He was a hero and part of a group of Marines who paid the ultimate price to protect our freedoms. Our nephew LCPL Tyler Haynes was in the vehicle and injured in the attack that killed LCPL Nealey. We are truly grateful for the courageous acts of these young men and their sacrifice. Americans from all over truly love and appreciate these young men for who they are, how they have given their lives to protect and to defend and how heroic their actions were. Your son and brother will be greatly missed and always remembered.
We would also like to offer our gratefulness and gratitude to you, the Nealey family for raising your son to be the fine American Marine and Christian soldier that he was and for the sacrifice he gave. While it is hard to part with a loved one under such circumstances, we pray that God will give you the strength, peace and understanding that his departure from this world was not in vain. Your family has made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation through your son’s death. He was so young and with so much promise, engaged in defending our liberty and freedom in a foreign land. He was truly a hero, working to bring freedom and independence to a newly democratic nation.
As the days move on and this period of time becomes more distant, we pray that God will bless your family and heal your wounds. We also thank you for your family’s sacrifice for our freedom and pray that you will be truly blessed as you adjust to this loss. Our Country owes your family so much for you so graciously and caringly giving up your loved one to protect the lives of others. May God be with your family as you celebrate LCPL Nealey's life, rejoice in his memory, and mourn his loss.
And on behalf of the entire family of LCPL Tyler Haynes, we offer our condolences and prayers that God will lift you up on Angels Wings and provide for your healing.

My deepest condolences go out to the Nealy Family.
Troy, Todd and I all attended the same elementary school in Grand Ledge (Troy one year older and Todd a year younger) and we lived very close to each other. I remember walking to and from school with the boys on many days, having snowball fights and playing the "chase" game all the way. Troy was always so willing to stick up for anybody, especially us girls. This obviosly continued after he and his family moved away and on into his adult
life.
Thank you, Troy, for your ultimate sacrifice so that I might have my freedom. You will never be forgotten.

We are Troy's Cousins and just returned from the entire day of tributes and services for LCpl Troy D Nealey. We spent 20 years as a Navy Family through Viet Nam, Bay of Pigs, etc., and Jim served at many military funerals...this by far was the most impressive and meaningful military service we have every attended.
The gym at Troy's High School was filled with family, friends and military. Pastor Scott Boles was absoluntely awesome, HS Principal Dave Johnson and Troy's teacher Ben Gillis paid appropriate honor and the Marines were absolutely the most sincere and prepared.
The townspeople lined the streets on both sides from the High School all the way to the cemetary. Little children and older people all out in the cold, wrapped in blankets and waving the American and Marine Flags.
Thank you to the ERPD, Eaton County Sheriff's team, Charlotte City Police all the firemen and safety department. Thanks to the Eaton Rapids Public Schools for everything, especially the bus transportation and the facilities managers. Thanks to the local churches for the wonderful meal and to Hastay's and the VFW National Home for the beautiful table decorations.
Last, but not at all least, thanks to Kathy and Jordan Odell for all of the wonderful arrangements for the funeral services. Thank you for taking care of our family with such class and sincere warmth.
Thanks to the quilting friends for making the quilts/pillows for the family. You're the best

To the family and friends of LCpl Nealey: My words can never come close to easing the pain that I know you are feeling through this loss. I have faith in Troy's heart and spirit having read all that I have about him. I never met Troy, however, I know his kind and I would have been proud to have served with him given the opportunity. Us Eaton Rapids Marines need to stick together! If there is anything that I can ever do for your family, I am at their disposal. They have but to ask. I wish I could be there to walk with you on that last walk this Saturday but operational commitment has me keeping close to base here in SC. I will be coming to say my piece in person when I come home around Christmas time. Until then, God bless you and yours and Semper Fidelis Marine!
Deepest Respect

To Troy's family and friends-
My family and I are praying for you and your family during this difficult time. We send our deepest empathy as we lost our Marine on 11/30/05 in Fallujah. We are comforted to know that our Marines are serving their country with such honor and bravery. We are so proud of our Marines and all of our other service men and women for all that they have done and continue to do to keep us safe and to give us the freedom we have that so many take for granted.
They are true Heroes and need to always be remembered for their selflessness and sacrifice to better our world. We will forever be united in the loss of our heros. We are so sorry for your loss and hope our words will ease some of the pain, and maybe fill some of your emptiness.
Yesterday, Today, Forever – Semper Fi - Marines!
Our sincerest gratitude for their bravery-

To the family of Troy Nealey,
I am terribly sorry for this tragedy. Troy was a good friend of mine for over two years. We trained, went to war together, and found ourselves in many situations where we greatly depended on each other. His hard work ethic, his high level of compassion, and utter selflessness made him unique.
I was with Troy the day he died and all I can say is, to the very end, he was trying to help his friends. God Bless Him and you.
sincerely,

My deepest sympathies to the family of Lance Corporal Troy Nealey. I met him just before he was activated, I was on my way to my brothers house and spotted Lcpl Nealey in his Desert Digital Cammies pulling into his subdivision in Eaton Rapids, I pulled behind him in the street he slowly got out of his car (probably thought I was trouble) and I yelled out "SEMPER FI MARINE" we spoke for about 10 minutes and I told him good luck, LCpl Nealey will be missed and mourned by this Marine. Stand fast Marine you have earned your place on heavens scene guarding the Pearly Gates.

On behalf of all the members of Operation Circle of Love, the Montgomery Gentry Underground and showcattle.com we mourn Troy's passing. There are no words to ease the loss - there are no actions that can bring him back. Keeping his memory alive and the spirit of his life kindled is important. "I miss you down here, but I'll see you up there in the clouds..."

To the Family of Lance Cpl. Troy D. Nealey:
I will stand in grief with this soldier's family to honor him. For every fallen HERO there is a bright star that shines in the evening sky to remind us of the cherished gift we were given – even if for too short a time.
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courageous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guestbook for the rest of my life, but I promised Brent that neither he nor any like him would be forgotten and so I will continue until the day there is no longer the need.
We lost our son SFC Brent A. Adams on 12/1/05 and it seems like yesterday. I wish so badly there were things I could say to you right now to make the pain you are feeling go away, but I know first hand there simply are no words that will bring you the comfort and peace your heart aches for. Just know that you are not alone. My heart, thoughts, and prayers are with you all as you go through this tragedy moment by moment and as you mourn this loss.
We don't know each other, will probably never meet, but will forever be united in the loss of our Heroes. We have, unfortunately joined a group none of us wanted to join, an ever-growing group of families in this situation. May God grant you peace and strength to get through this and be able once again to smile at a memory rather than have only the tears that flow so easily now. To be so proud of your loved one and so saddened at the same time is a mix of emotions very difficult to deal with as our hearts both burst with pride and pain together.
I am sorry that I never knew your soldier personally. While they can never be replaced, neither will they ever be forgotten. You must trust that sometime, someday the loving memories you have will help to sustain you and help you go on. This courageous soldier will forever be your Angel watching over you all for the rest of your lives. It's what brings me some measure of peace and comfort and I hope it will you as well.
To his family and friends in pain, I offer this comfort: When you find yourself in that dark sorrowful place, think not only of how you will miss him, but instead recall the years, days, hours and minutes gifted to you by his presence. The one thing that cannot be taken from you is your wonderful memories that now will mean more than ever.
If you ever want to talk, I'm only an e:mail away and would love for you to tell me more about your Hero.
God Bless this soldier and family who gave all and God Bless legacy.com for setting up this site where families can so quickly share their condolences and prayers with others like themselves.

My deepest sympathies to the family of Lance Corporal Troy Nealy. I remember the first day that LCpl Nealy walked into my office and said that he needed gear! I said to him,"Marine, when my door is closed, you knock!" He smiled and replied aye, aye Gunny! His infectious smile, his always humble demeanor made him a joy to be around. LCpl Nealy will be missed and mourned by this Marine for years to come. Stand fast Marine you have earned your place on heavens scene. If the Army and the Navy ever look on heavens scene they will find the streets are guarded by this U.S. Marine! Semper Fi LCpl Nealy, Rest In Peace
