Hello,
We wanted to let you know that we will be honoring and remembering your loved one this holiday season. We are sending Care Packages to our deployed troops in his name. Each package will carry the name, photo, service branch, rank and hometown of Lawrance J. Carter US Army Sergeant.
We realize that this is a small tribute, but we do this with all respect and sincerity and we want you to know that it is made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals from across the American youth hockey community, our family, friends and many others who support our mission.
We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you safe and strong.

Hi Lawrance,
I never met you, and I am sorry for it. I married Steven. He misses you everyday. He lost not only a best friend, but a brother, and my heart aches for him. From everything I've been told about you, you were a wonderful guy, with swagger and grace. Fiercely loyal, and the best friend a guy could ask for. I want to leave my condolences for your family. You were a well loved man, and your absence leaves a hole in many people's heart. Even my own for not getting the opportunity to meet you. Rest in Peace.

To our nephew, Sgt Lawrence J. Carter. We last saw you as a little fella, over the years you grew into a fine young man, a soldier and defender of our country. It takes a special person to accept the oath, dawn the uniform and put one's life on the line to protect the Red, White & Blue that stands for America. You accepted challenge and completed the task. On behalf of my family we thank you for your service and protection. From one Veteran to another, I stand proudly and "SALUTE" you for the honor and badge of courage in which you served. Although in a different branches at the time, it was a pleasure to wear the uniform at the same time as you. One Warrior, One Fight.
We Love & miss you!

To my cousin, my battle buddy, and my friend, Sgt. Lawerence J. Carter. I can only remember meeting you one time, but i will always remember how we are connected in Life. We shared the names of our late unlce Lawerence Lindell. As I sit in Bamberg, Germany, just 30 mins down the street from where you were, I think of how we could have met again and hung out more. I stand here as a fellow soldier as well, ready to put my life on the line, protect and serve my country just like you. I will always wear my uniform proud with my head up high, wear my unit and combat patches strongly, and keep your spirit surrounding me. You were a soldier 24/7, a warrior, and a expert. And for you, I will always stand as a professional in my warrior tasks and drills. We are the American Soldiers. I love you always and forever and will continue to follow your road to success. Before I go, I would like to leave you with the Warrior Ethos:
I WILL ALWAYS PLACE THE MISSION FIRST,
I WILL NEVER ACCEPT DEFEAT,
I WILL NEVER QUIT,
I WILL NEVER LEAVE A FALLEN COMRADE!!
Love always Dwayne, Mary, John, Ja'len, and Ke'sean Perkins

I thank you for excepting me as your stepfather. Lawrance we had our ups and downs but we love each other. It was hard work for your mother and I to keep you out of trouble. I been your daddy sence you were 4 years old. When you played indoor hocky I was their supporting you all the way. When you were in trouble I was their to back you up. It was hard work. Any daddy knows what I'm talking about. We had some good time together also. When we went to Tucson Ar. you drove their and almost all the way back. That was the first time you had been out of the state of Califoria. And it was the first time you had driven that far. We took martial arts together. In your age group you were the best. No one could do a flying side kick better than you not even me. You were able to go over 4 people touching the mat. You were good. When you were having problems in school, I was the one that went up to the school to see what was the problem. I settle that. I put you in private school. I work 16 hours a day 6 and sometimes 7 days a week. You went from bad grades to A's and B's. You did graduate with your class. I'm telling you this is because I love you. I miss you. I want you back home. I brag about you all the time and I brag about your brother too. Billy misses you too. I and your mother still cry for you. We were father and son, however we became friends. After you turned 17 and a halve, You became a man. You understood everything I was doing. And You would hug me to let me know you realy appreciated that I did not give up on you. I have so much more to say but I will stop here and say I love you. By your loving stepfather Ollie Grays.

This message is to say that You, Lawrance James Carter, are and will always be my hero. This is your big brother, William. As i draw closer to retirement, i look back on my carreer, and the most significant thing that has happened to me, is lossing you. I miss you so much little brother, and as i read over the messages left in the guest book, i am reminded of just how of a loss it you were. I will never forget you, and i am naming my baby after you. I miss you, and I love you forever, little brother.

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.
The Wind on The Downs
“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”
(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )
Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….
“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”
I did not know Lawrance, but I am remembering
his service and sacrifice. He is my hero. !

The Other Side
i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.
can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.
i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.
it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side
the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

Hey Lawrance, Its been 3 years since I last seen you. I still remember it like yesterday though. We was in fayetteville at your cousin Karen's house and me, you and crystal all went out to red lobster that night. We had a great time laughing and talking about the army. Who ever thought that I would end up joining after that talk we had. Well it saden me when crystal told me you passed away. I couldn't believe it neither could she. Well I can tell you that we are making a difference in Iraq and you was part of this change thats coming. I see it changing now and you can see the difference from 2003 to now. Well we miss you and Love you.

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.
Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.
I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

To the Carter family,
I just found out about Lawrance leaving us all too soon. My Name is 1SG Ruben Diaz I was his 1st Platoon Sergeant back at Ft. Bragg right after he came to us fresh out of Airborne School. I would like to thank you for raising a very smart, considerate, well mannered man. He was a very good soldier. We deployed to Afghanistan together. He did his job very well then and I am sure he was doing a good job when he left us. Soldiers like him do not come around to often. I know he is in a much better place now. Please except my late condolences. I rememeber when he met his 1st room mate there in the 82nd LOL his room mate was a slob and Lawrance would not put up with that. He mentored that individual to live in a better way. I thank him for that. I beleive I may have some pictures of him when we were in afghanistan. I know he did a great job in Iraq. We deployed there also. Your son was a great person to talk to he always had a smile on his face no matter how cold or hot it was outside or what ever type of training we were doing he would always smile. I will surely miss him know that I know he is no longer here with us but I will never forget how full of life he was when I 1st met him and when he did his 1st jump in the 82nd expecially at night. Again please except my late condolences and thank you for giving us the opurtunity to serve with your son Lawrance

Although we do not know one another, we share a bond that cannot be broken. We are families of the American Soldier.
As my family and I wait for the day our son returns home, we also wait every moment for some word that he is still safe. I cannot imagine your grief and pain but dread that experience just the same. We are also residents of Rancho Cucamonga, and that tie will also bind us together. Our prayers, love and support are with you and your family at this time.

To the Family of Sgt. Lawrence J. Carter:
I will stand in grief with this soldier's family to honor him. For every fallen HERO there is a bright star that shines in the evening sky to remind us of the cherished gift we were given – even if for too short a time.
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courageous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guestbook for the rest of my life, but I promised Brent that neither he nor any like him would be forgotten and so I will continue until the day there is no longer the need.
We lost our son SFC Brent A. Adams on 12/1/05 and it seems like yesterday. I wish so badly there were things I could say to you right now to make the pain you are feeling go away, but I know first hand there simply are no words that will bring you the comfort and peace your heart aches for. Just know that you are not alone. My heart, thoughts, and prayers are with you all as you go through this tragedy moment by moment and as you mourn this loss.
We don't know each other, will probably never meet, but will forever be united in the loss of our Heroes. We have, unfortunately joined a group none of us wanted to join, an ever-growing group of families in this situation. May God grant you peace and strength to get through this and be able once again to smile at a memory rather than have only the tears that flow so easily now. To be so proud of your loved one and so saddened at the same time is a mix of emotions very difficult to deal with as our hearts both burst with pride and pain together.
I am sorry that I never knew your soldier personally. While they can never be replaced, neither will they ever be forgotten. You must trust that sometime, someday the loving memories you have will help to sustain you and help you go on. This courageous soldier will forever be your Angel watching over you all for the rest of your lives. It's what brings me some measure of peace and comfort and I hope it will you as well.
To his family and friends in pain, I offer this comfort: When you find yourself in that dark sorrowful place, think not only of how you will miss him, but instead recall the years, days, hours and minutes gifted to you by his presence. The one thing that cannot be taken from you is your wonderful memories that now will mean more than ever.
If you ever want to talk, I'm only an e:mail away and would love for you to tell me more about your Hero.
God Bless this soldier and family who gave all and God Bless legacy.com for setting up this site where families can so quickly share their condolences and prayers with others like themselves.
