Randall S. Rehn Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 28, 2005.
Sgt. 1st Class Randy Rehn, who had joined the Army in 1997, lived near the Fort Sill Army base with his wife and 7-month-old daughter. Rehn, 36, a Longmont, Colo., native, died April 3 in combat. His brother, Joe, described Rehn as a prankster who loved to golf and hunt. "He was over there for the right reasons," Joe Rehn said, "to fight terrorism and make it a safer place for people to live in."

Hello,
We would like to express our deepest condolences and also let the Rehn Family and friends know that we will be sending Care Packages to troops in Afghanistan this week and we'll be dedicating several of these to your loved one. Each package will carry the name, photo and the hometown of Randall "Randy" S. Rehn US Army Sergeant 1st Class. We realize that this is a small tribute, but we do this with all respect and sincerity and we want you to know that it is made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals from across the American youth hockey community. We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you strong.
Sincerely,
Charlie Gili & Family

”Honor and Remember” - “Project Compassion” We love our Soldiers! We love our country and we cannot express enough love and compassion to the families of our fallen heroes. War does not discriminate – It breaks our hearts to see the faces of the fallen. We want to give this gift to the hero’s Mother, Father and/or spouse. We are a 501c3 nonprofit organization! Almost 2,100 portraits have been completed and shipped to the parents and or spouse - at no cost as this is a gift from one American to another!
This is a gift! We have wonderful sponsors who help with the costs, and want you know that everyone here at Project Compassion does and will always CARE.
Contact us directly at [email protected] or go to www.heropaintings.com . If you have already had a portrait completed, we pray that you are enjoying the portrait and God Bless You.
Sincerely and Respectfully,

Sometimes I think this can't be real. Sometimes I think I see him at the store or think I can hear his laugh. He will always be missed. Love to the family.

My heart felt condolensces and sympathy goes out to the Rehn Family. I was with Randall back in Fort Sill Oklahoma and we both got on stage and sung taking care of business in a bar during Karaoke night, what a blast...as said before always the life of the party. God Bless you where ever you are Rehn you will always hold a place in my heart for being a friend, a comic and most of all a soldier

I also go back to the days of 6/27FA with Randy. I always remember Randy for his cando attitude and it was always with a smile. I just happened to be at Fort Stewart a few years ago and was walking around the track where they have planted trees for fallen soldiers, when i spotted Randy's tree. I was in shock. But i know it was what he loved to do. Randy, you are missed but not forgotten my friend.

Randy,

There is not a day goes by that you don't cross my. From the time you arrived at A2/4 things really lightened up. You were a ton of fun to be around, always the life of the party. When I finished my time in service, I never expected to see you again. I am so glad that you did not meet my expectations. I just happened to stumble across you the night before your wedding in Muskogee, Oklahoma at a place called "Checkers". Once again, you were the a sight for sore eyes, thanks for being a friend. Im glad I showed up to give you a ride home that night, even though neither one of us really were sure where the house was. Take care friend.

It is difficult to know what to say since I want to express my sincere sympathy to the family and friends of Sgt 1st Class Rehn. Please know that your loved one is not forgotten. I wish everyone impacted by this tragic loss strength and peace. I hope that SFC Rehn knew that there are people in America who respect his great courage in serving as a member of the US military. Although I did not know him, I know that he must have been a very special person to be willing to do something that most Americans will never have to experience and for that we can never say thank you enough.
Thank you Sgt 1st Class Rehn!

To the Rehn family,
Please know that just as your loved one will forever remain in your hearts and minds, his sacrifice and that of your family, will remain with the people he died defending. Words cannot express the gratitude we feel for this bravery and selflessness, or the heartache we feel for your loss. God grant you the peace that passes all understanding.

The Wind on The Downs

“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”

(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )

Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….

“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”

I did not know Randall, but he is my hero. If you would like a copy of the angel I posted here, please contact me and I will email it to you.

You are remembered and respected. Thank you Sgt 1st Class Rehn!

August 1, 2007

If this person can stand in battle to ensure my freedom, then I will stand in grief with his/her family to honor him/her. For every fallen HERO there is a bright star that shines in the evening sky to remind us of the cherished gift we were given – even if for too short a time.
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courageous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guest book for the rest of my life, but I promised LE RON A. WILSON (a dear friend KIA 7/6/07, 18yrs old) that neither he nor any like him would be forgotten and so I will continue until the day there is no longer the need.

I was just browsing a site with tributes to soldiers & found this so I figured I would write to let everyone know what a great guy SFC Rehn is! (Like you don't already know.) I worked at the Salt Lake Recruiting Company & Battalion with him and cried for days after I heard what had happened. My brother (who was a Recruiter in SL Company, too) & I would have attended the funeral, but found out the same day so we didn't have time to get there. I wish his family the best & am here if you need anything!

I'm not sure you remember me or not, i was a recruiter with Randy in South Salt Lake Recruiting station. I was the one who would bring my labs to work all the time. I just wanted to send my prayers to you and your little one. I wish i could have found a way to send some thing sooner, but did not know how to get ahold of you or your family. When in Iraq i was only about an hour behind Randy's unit. I did see them cross over the border into Iraq. Raylin (spelling) your loss has been a loss for all of us who knew Randy. He will always be a great friend and he can still make me laugh when i think about the sunburn he got playing golf. He came to work looking like a big red tomato, we rasd him for days. Well they did let me retire finaly this October sure is strange not being in the Army any more. If you need anything please email me and let me and my wife know. You and your husbusd are wonderful friends and always will be.

Take care

Your friend

My regards to Mrs Rehn. I met you once back before you moved in 2002. I was with SSG Curtis Lake whom with your husband was my recruiter

they both put me into the army. I was in Iraq from 4\2003 to 8\2004. I heard of the loss of this great soldier from SSG Lake who was in the push to bagdad with SFC Rehn.

My heart goes out to you and all your family.
