Hello,
We wanted you to know that we will be honoring and remembering your loved one this holiday season. We have recently sent Care Packages to our deployed troops in his name. Each package will carry the name, photo, service branch, rank and hometown of Chad E. Bales US Marine Private 1st Class.
We realize that this is a small tribute, but we do this with all respect and sincerity and we want you to know that it is made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals from across the American youth hockey community, our family, friends and many others who support our mission.
We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you safe and strong.
Sincerely,
Charlie Gili & Family

Although we did not know, Pfc. Bales, my son walked in his name in the Batan Death March in New Mexico in 2019. Aiden (he was a freshman in HS at the time) was very honored to walk in Pfc. Bales' name.

Our Strong & Proud.
They stand there strong
Dressed to fight
They're honor bound
To do what's right
For love of God & Country
They're proud to serve
When they are called
They'll do their best
They'll give their all
For love of God & Country
They'll go on point
To clear the way
They'll risk their life
Both night and day
For love of God & Country
They'll sleep at night
Upon the ground
They'll clean their guns
And count their rounds
For love of God & Country
They'll freeze all night
And sweat all day
They'll do this all
For little pay and
For love of God & Country
If they survive
And make it home
They'll find it hard
And feel alone
Now most of all
They'll need their God & Country

To the Bales family,
I served with Chad in 2003 from Camp Pendleton as well as others that have wrote on his wall here. I have never wrote on anyones wall that meant this much to me because theres no words that can be said that explains the impact that this man meant to us. As we were labeled as his leaders we were most importantly his brothers and sisters as we got to be a tight knit family while we met before deployment to grow so close! We all came from different units to become one. I dread thinking about any of the deployments Ive been on but theres not a day that goes by I dont think of Chad. I remember all the times we had together and wouldnt change that for anything. When thinking of our time together I can remember the fun we had on our downtime in our tent by passing time having boxing matches, playing cards, watching movies, listening to music, n just relaxing as a family would. For the Marines who read all these posts I am sure they are sheading tears, as I have done tonight as well, for it was too soon to lose a beautiful man like Chad but just as MGySgt Acosta said the good Lord had plans for Chad. I have never met another person like Chad and I am honored to have been able to as well as to have memories of what time we had together. Everyday I think of this man I share a salute to him. I look on here often but never got the nerve to write anything since I couldnt put in form. I hope this doesnt seem like jumble to everyone and they can understand what I have wrote from my feelings. I have soo many feelings to write but cant think right now get them out. Prayers go out and God Bless!!!!! Semper Fi Chad and I cant wait to serve with you again my brother! Much Love

Chad,
I can't believe how time has flown...I still remember Arthur and you during our high school years in Coahoma...in which they would not have been fun or memorable without your presence. Reading all of the entries tells me that you did sacrifice not only for our country but for the men on your unit. How Amazing is that!!! :) I will never forget the day that my mom and Arthur had to tell me about you...I felt I lost a brother. I know that you are in a better place, looking down on us but you will never be forgotten. You were a part of our family too and we miss you...rest in peace!

I know that we didn't get to know each other very well as 2nd cousins, but I talk to your Grams all the time and she loves and misses you so much. She is such a strong woman and I aspire one day to be just like her. Your Papa was in the hospital a while back, but he's doing better now. I really miss all of my Texas family - including you. I married a former Marine and let me tell you - I know how huge the sacrifice you made was. I respect you with everything I've got Buddy. We will never forget you or how your short life came to an abrupt end way too soon. Just know that you are loved - by SO many people.

”Honor and Remember” - “Project Compassion” We love our Soldiers! We love our country and we cannot express enough love and compassion to the families of our fallen heroes. War does not discriminate – It breaks our hearts to see the faces of the fallen. We want to give this gift to the hero’s Mother, Father and/or spouse. We are a 501c3 nonprofit organization! Almost 2,000 portraits have been completed and shipped to the parents and or spouse - at no cost as this is a gift from one American to another!
This is a gift! We have wonderful sponsors who help with the costs, and want you know that everyone here at Project Compassion does and will always CARE.
Contact us directly at [email protected] or go to www.heropaintings.com . If you have already had a portrait completed, we pray that you are enjoying the portrait and God Bless You.

Just thinking about you Chad. Came across another Marine with the last name of Bales. It was kinda strange to me. When ever I see your Marine Pic your face and your personlaity comes rigt back to me. Your passing has haunted me since the day I found out. I dont tell this to many but it was not your time. Crazy as that sounds I always wonder why? That is not for me to deside but i go crazy over that thought sometimes. sorry to be such a negative thinker but I wish I had been there in that moment, you were so young.

My heart is saddened at the death of your son. I am struck by his resolute expression, I imagine this expression is the result of his strength, courage--but of equal importance, gentleness and grace. I pray there may come a time, when there is war no more. When children such as your beautiful son may grow in peace, in grace and in the love of family and friends. Perhaps that day is near. We can only hope.

I am sitting here reading all of the of the wonderful things said to you Chad, you are loved by so many. I think about you so often it is scary. Even though our paths crossed for just a short while, the impact that you had on my life will last a lifetime. I am not sure were I am going with this but, I have been thinking about you a lot lately. For me I can never get your smile out of my mind, nor can I get the moment that they told me you were gone. The devistation I felt at the moment was unbearable. Its weird how even in a short time you really became a brother. In the aftermath of it all we had to move on and carry out the mission. But now even five years later it still lingers on my mind. Your devotion was unmatchable. I know this sounds like a lot of nothing, but I just wanted you and your family to know that you will always be in my thought, prayers and heart. I still cry evertime I think about you. Maybe that will change one day but I dont think so.

“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”

Little did I know as I came across your accident on that fateful day that you lived just a few miles from me in Texas. I can truly say that my Marines and I did everything possible to get you the medical attention you required to save your life. But, it was not to be. The Lord had other plans for you.
You paid the ultimate price, Devil Dog. Rest now, as we continue to bring freedom to those who are less fortunate than us.
May the Lord keep you in his arms for all eternity.
To the Bales Family...My deepest and most heartfelt sympathies at your loss.

In time, there will come a day when the tears of sorrow will softly flow into sighs of remembrance. Your heart will begin to heal itself.
Grieving will be interrupted by episodes of joy; and you will hear the whisper of hope.
There will come a day when you will welcome the pangs of remembrance as a sun shower of the soul; a turning of the tide; the promise of peace.
There will come a day when you will risk loving, go on believing,
and treasure the remembering.

To the Bales family. I was your sons Cpl when he checked into our unit on Camp Pendleton. He was young and full of life. He loved the Marines and his family. The day they told us that he had passed was one of the most devistating days of my life. We were on the road to Baghdad as if that wernt enough. I think about him often and what I remember most is the big smile he "ALWAYS" had and how he would be the first to voulentiere for any mission. He truley was a brave young man. He is always in our families thoughts and prayers. We will never forget how devoted he was to family, core, and country.
