Gooden was in my Tank School shortly after 9/11. He was a true Marine. He was full of spirit and drive. The world is a worse place without him. I am sorry for your loss

Hello,
We would like to express our deepest condolences and also let the Gooden Family know that we recently sent a donation to Jordan's Initiative in honor of Bernard G. Gooden US Marine Corporal. We recognize that this is a humble tribute, but we wanted you to know that it is heartfelt and made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals in the youth hockey community and beyond. We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you strong.
Sincerely,
Charlie Gili & Family

Prayer for Peace
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace;
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
And where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master,
Grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
To be understood, as to understand;
To be loved, as to love;
For it is in giving that we receive,
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
And it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
Amen

I am Ricky Weir's mom. There is so much to write and I would not want to take up all of your time to read this. Gooden was my son's roomate and best friend. He visited MOM and SIS in N.Y. and said he had the best jerk chicken in the world. Gooden also visited my grandchildren in Augusta where they fell in love with their uncle. I think about him all the time. I just met him once and he was a very respectful guy. As for Rick, he will never forget his brother and this being 2 days after 5 years of sadness, I bow in grief with youall. Rick got married in August 2004 and he had Gooden picture printed on a tee shirt which he wore under his marine uniform at his wedding. He said if Gooden was here, he would have been his best man. That was the only way to bring him to the wedding. He has a son that will be 3 in May and I know he will tell him the stories of his friend and the memories of their friendship. Rick got out of the marines in 2006. He has now joined the Army Guard unit in ga. He then transferred to a unit in Douglas Guard Unit and is returning to Iraq for 13 months. I know Bernard will be with him as God will be. For the family, please keep in touch with me. I would like to share some pictures of Rick and his family with youall. He also has a stepdaughter that is 7. God Bless you and i know this is not an easy time in your life. I have walked with sympathy just not with empathy. I will never forget you. Alabama loves you.

To the family and friends of Bernard.
Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers today.
The Wind on The Downs
“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”
(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )
Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….
“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”
I did not know Bernard, but he is my hero. If you would like
a copy of the drawing I posted here, please contact me
and I will email that to you.

To: Mrs Carmen Thompkins
I was just reading Bernard's Guest Book, and I was touched! I am a mother of two and a grandmother of four, but I can't imagine what it is like to lose a child! I do know that we carry our children close to our hearts even after the chord is cut. No one but a mother can make that statement!
I am trusting God to restore your joy and to comfort you during this painful time in your life. Just think God has "...wiped away all tears from Bernard's eyes..." and he will never "...know pain or suffering again..." This is a reason to rejoice!
I have been in the Ministry since 1979, and have dealt with a great deal a death. In 2004, God blessed me with a "personalized" tape ministry for our troops. It is an "honor" to do what I do. There are not enough hours in a day or ways to say "thank you" for the sacrifices! If I had know Bernard, he would have been one of mine. I will FOREVER Salute Cpl. Bernard G. Gooden!
Stay strong and encouraged! You are never alone!
Yours in Christ,
Minister Florence Duckett

Hello:
You do not know me but I left a tribute for your family member at an earlier date. The reason for my note is to let you know of a group of people who are willing to do portraits of fallen soldiers in wood free of charge. If your family is interested you can visit their website at [email protected].
com. I became aware of this site when I tried to do something special for my son's best friend's mother (my son's best friend was KIA 7/6/07, he was 18). Some of you may have already had this done but for those who did not and would like to, please contact them they are wonderful people.
God bless you and I am so sorry for your loss. Your HERO will never be forgotten.
