I knew Stevon many years ago. I met him and his sisters through the Slickville Midget Football/Cheerleading program. He was kind, respectful, and always had a beautiful smile. I never heard anyone say a single negative word about him.
When I heard that he had passed, I was shocked. All the memories of those many years ago came back, and I cherish them. Ms. Freddie and family, I send you my deepest condolences on the loss of Stevon. He was a brave, strong, wonderful human being, and he will be truly missed.

To the family of SSG Booker. I must send this message because I think of Stevon often. I knew him at Ft. Stewart when I worked at Division Protocol. SSG Booker did ceremonies for his Unit. He was always professional. I talked to him a few times but never thought to ask him where he was from. I am from Homer City Pa. And I never thought to ask him what his MOS was. Turns out we were both tankers, (I was in 4-64 Armor). How tragic that we lost one of the best tankers that Ft. Stewart ever knew. SSG (R) James Henrickson

To the Booker family, I live day to day remebering that day in Iraq as your son and i had become very close friends. I was the Infantry platoon Sergeant assigned to A co 1/64 AR "Wild Bunch". I suffer from night mare of that event that has changed many of us that served proudly along side of your son. He was a Hero in my eyes because he saved many of us in harms way of the Iraqi Army. I look forward to seeing Stevon in Heaven one day. GOD Bless you my fallen friend, You will never be forgotten by me or my family. Until we meet again (SFC Curtis Retired) Blue 4 Out.

I JUST found a letter from Stevon that I kept of his. It was from 1991 when he was serving in Operation Desert Shield. I JUST tried to find him on FB. Then decided to google him...just to find out that he is gone. I last saw him in Denver. We were very close. This is so sad. Sorry we lost touch, my friend. Much love Stevon and to his family.

”Honor and Remember” - “Project Compassion” We love our Soldiers! We love our country and we cannot express enough love and compassion to the families of our fallen heroes. War does not discriminate – It breaks our hearts to see the faces of the fallen. We want to give this gift to the hero’s Mother, Father and/or spouse. We are a 501c3 nonprofit organization! Almost 2,000 portraits have been completed and shipped to the parents and or spouse - at no cost as this is a gift from one American to another!
This is a gift! We have wonderful sponsors who help with the costs, and want you know that everyone here at Project Compassion does and will always CARE.
Contact us directly at [email protected] or go to www.heropaintings.com . If you have already had a portrait completed, we pray that you are enjoying the portrait and God Bless You.

SSG Booker called me Flaken. My real name is Seth Laken. At that time I was PFC Laken. I was fresh out of Boot Camp and joined Wildbunch in 2002. I was a Tanker like him, but our only comparison was the word Tanker given to us. He was a gem. SSG Booker had no reason to acknowledge my existence; but he did. All I can say is I think about him everyday. He treated me like a soldier.

To the Family,
I was reading the Guest Book for Staff Sgt Booker, and I was touched. He sounds like he was a good leader, one with a "heart" for his soldiers!
I am trusting God to comfort your family during these times. As I have said so many times, "earth has no sorrow that Heaven cannot heal". God is in control and never makes any mistakes. He sets our appointment with death! The beautiful thing is that Stevon will never cry or suffer again. God has "...wiped away all tears from his eyes..."
I have been in the Ministry since 1979, and I have dealt with a great deal of death. God makes it bearable because I know He is God alone! In 2004, God blessed me with a "personalized" tape ministry for our troops. If I had known Stevon, he would have been one of mine. I consider it an "honor" to do what I do. I tell people there are not enough hours in a day or ways to say "thank you" for the sacrifice(s),past or present. I will FOREVER salute Staff Sgt. Stevon A. Booker!
Stay strong and encouraged! God has control of ALL of your tomorrows!
Yours in Christ,

I am sincerely hoping that you continue to feel the thoughts of Caring and Support that surround you each day, as this Country Remembers Someone Very Precious to you, who is a Hero to all of us.
I am So Deeply Sorry for your loss.
April 4, 2007
To the Family and Friends of this Soldier:
I will stand in grief with this soldier's family to honor him. For every fallen HERO there is a bright star that shines in the evening sky to remind us of the cherished gift we were given – even if for too short a time.
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courageous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guestbook for the rest of my life, but I promised Brent that neither he nor any like him would be forgotten and so I will continue until the day there is no longer the need.
We lost our son SFC Brent A. Adams on 12/1/05 and it seems like yesterday. I wish so badly there were things I could say to you right now to make the pain you are feeling go away, but I know first hand there simply are no words that will bring you the comfort and peace your heart aches for. Just know that you are not alone. My heart, thoughts, and prayers are with you all as you go through this tragedy moment by moment and as you mourn this loss.
We don't know each other, will probably never meet, but will forever be united in the loss of our Heroes. We have, unfortunately joined a group none of us wanted to join, an ever-growing group of families in this situation. May God grant you peace and strength to get through this and be able once again to smile at a memory rather than have only the tears that flow so easily now. To be so proud of your loved one and so saddened at the same time is a mix of emotions very difficult to deal with as our hearts both burst with pride and pain together.
I am sorry that I never knew your soldier personally. While they can never be replaced, neither will they ever be forgotten. You must trust that sometime, someday the loving memories you have will help to sustain you and help you go on. This courageous soldier will forever be your Angel watching over you all for the rest of your lives. It's what brings me some measure of peace and comfort and I hope it will you as well.
To his family and friends in pain, I offer this comfort: When you find yourself in that dark sorrowful place, think not only of how you will miss him, but instead recall the years, days, hours and minutes gifted to you by his presence. The one thing that cannot be taken from you is your wonderful memories that now will mean more than ever.
If you ever want to talk, I'm only an e:mail away and would love for you to tell me more about your Hero.
God Bless this soldier and family who gave all and God Bless legacy.com for setting up this site where families can so quickly share their condolences and prayers with others like themselves.

Steve,
I can't tell you how much I miss you, I can't believe that it has been 4 years since you been gone and it still feels like yesterday that we received the news that you had been killed. Although I knew that you were in the line of danger I never thought anything would happen to you! Your laughter is greatly missed, sometimes I can hear you laugh like you are still here. You are alive in my heart everyday. I will carrie your strength in my heart to get me through the years to come that I never thought you would not be here for! You are my one and only brother and I love you with all my heart. As my son grows up right infront of me Iam reminded of you, he looks more and more like you, the older he gets and he acts like you, with that smile and sense of humor, that everyone will miss so dearly. Iam just waiting for the day that the Good Lord will reunite us as a family again, but until then I will keep you in my heart and mind always.

To my brother in arms,
We were stationed together (Desert Rogues!); we trained, went to the range and did PT together; We deployed to Bosnia together; We went to the desert (twice) together and fought the good fight; We were NCO's, soldiers, warriors together; You were leading soldiers from the front the day you fell, just as a good NCO is supposed to do. I shall miss you, but I honour your courage, your loyalty and your commitment to duty. We will meet again on the other side, to where-ever warriors go when God calls them home.

I did not know Stevon but I have a son who also served in Iraq and thankfully now is out of harms way for awhile but he will be back. I read the related links and the statements that he said in his conversations to his Mom just are about identical to my son's. He always trys to reassure me that he is doing fine but as I'm sure you also know they have not had it very well, going out on missions/patrols sometimes up to 3 times a day or for days at a time. Too many forget the sacrifice that these guys are going through while they go about their peaceful life every day. I cannot say thank you enough. I feel your pain but remember some do think of them and they and you are in our prayers. I know you miss him terribly and that is little comfort to you. Please remember that he is a hero. The things my son says to me mirror what Stevon said to you. I can just hear the same words of the dedication. God bless you and your family and thank you for a hero fighting for our Country.
