Hi Cousin, been thinking about you alot latley, well truthfully you are alwasy on my mind! Being as we are only 2 month apart in age I often wonder what you would be doing right now! Going though life like I am! The boys are getting ready to leave with the Idaho NG in Oct. I am very afraid for them. The idea of losing them and feeling that pain I felt for you is almost to much for me. PLEASE please please look over them and keep them safe! ”Honor and Remember” - “Project Compassion” We love our Soldiers! We love our country and we cannot express enough love and compassion to the families of our fallen heroes. War does not discriminate – It breaks our hearts to see the faces of the fallen. We want to give this gift to the hero’s Mother, Father and/or spouse. We are a 501c3 nonprofit organization! Over 1,850 portraits have been completed and shipped to the parents and or spouse - at no cost as this is a gift from one American to another!
This is a gift! We have some wonderful sponsors who help with the costs, and only want you know that we care.
Contact us directly at [email protected] or go to www.heropaintings.com . If you have already had a portrait completed, we pray that you are enjoying the portrait and God Bless You.
Sincerely and Respectfully,

In Memory of James ~ (Debra Estep)
November 6, 2008
Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.
The Wind on The Downs
“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”
(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )
Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….
“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”
I did not know James, but I am remembering
his service and sacrifice. He is my hero. !

The Other Side
i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.
can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.
i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.
it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side
the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

It is difficult to know what to say since I want to express my sincere sympathy to the family and friends of Spc Wolf. Please know that your loved one is not forgotten. I wish everyone impacted by this tragic loss strength and peace. I hope that Spc Wolf knew that there are people in America who respect his great courage in serving as a member of the US military. Although I did not know him, I know that he must have been a very special person to be willing to do something that most Americans will never have to experience, and for that we can never say thank you enough.
Thank you Spc Wolf!

Wow..I don't even know where to begin. It's been over 4 years since James has passed on, and there honestly isn't a day that goes by that I don't think about him. It's a sadness that never goes away -- especially when you lose someone who is a good friend, someone who always makes you laugh no matter what, someone whose sweet smile can brighten your day.
James was a great friend. We dated for a while, and he was so sweet :) But even after we parted ways, we still remained good friends. He was always making me laugh. Whenever I was up late working on homework, he'd razz me about it but then tell me how great it was that I was doing well in school. He would give me a hard time about going on shopping sprees with my friends but then quickly say how pretty I looked in those new clothes. Always something to make one laugh and smile. That was James. Of course, he had a serious side, too. He was very proud of what he did. Proud to be a soldier and proud to fight for his country.
That same love and care went for people he didn't even know. I remember him telling me about helping out at orphanages in Iraq. He loved kids, especially his nephew (who adored and admired him just the same). He cared so much for others before himself -- in the end, giving the ultimate sacrifice for his country.
Since James has passed, I have stayed in contact with his brother, Dave, and we always have a good time telling all the stories about James that make us laugh. It's great for the heart and soul, and I know James is laughing with us.
To the Wolf family: though I have only met most of you a couple times (except for Dave -- I'll see you at Mike's and my wedding in June!), you are all an amazing, strong family. James was a great guy, and you were truly blessed to have him as your son or brother.

As James' squad leader in Iraq before his life was cut short, I had the pleasure of leading a man who knew no limits to his generosity. Jim was always volunterring for things, taking the details nobody else wanted, putting the rest of the team members ahead of his own personal wants and needs. When he went home on mid tour leave, it was under orders from our supervisors because he had been in country as long as I had been, and it was time for us to get a break from the conflict. It was hard for him to go home, I could tell that when I informed him that he was going home. And just like me, he was anxious to return to his friends and teammates when it was time for leave to end. He told me he was happy to be back when I saw him back on base shortly after I returned, as he had gone on leave a few days later than I did. When he got back, he said that "I am ready to get back in the fight" and I knew he meant that, he wanted to give his comrades a break from the duty that they had ben doing in his absence. If I can be half the "Jolly Green Giant" that James was, I will have succeeded in being the best leader taht I can be, but until then, James, you are in my mind and my heart and my prayars, help me to make the new soldiers as good as you were, or at least point them on the right track as they grow and develop.

My Dearest Son James,
There are no words to explain the hole in our hearts since you were taken from us. We think of you and miss you everyday. I know you are watching over us and protecting all of those you love. We are doing our best to continue on and to honor your memory. We are so proud of you and for what you stood for. You would be 23 now, standing so tall and grown up. We will always remember your smile, the way you danced and sang, and those silly jokes you always told. We'll see you again someday, when it is our turn to follow you. Until then, we love you!
