To the family of Sgt. Paul F. Fisher:
The Fort Snelling Memorial Chapel Foundation will be honoring your loved one at the non-denominational Christian Memorial Day Remembrance worship service at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, 26 May 2013. We will remember the casualties of the Global War on Terrorism from Minnesota … and the bordering states of Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin. Outside of the historic Fort Snelling Veterans Memorial Chapel will be a “Memorial Garden” filled with some 300 white crosses bearing the names of the war dead … including your loved one.
The Memorial Garden will be encircled with larger white crosses representing all of the wars of our nation's history and give honor to all who have served in the United States Armed Forces and made the ultimate sacrifice for the freedoms we enjoy today. Wreaths will be placed at the foot of each 8-foot cross bearing the number of U.S. Service Members killed in each of America's conflicts.
I would like to extend to your family an invitation to honor us with your presence at worship as we pay tribute to the sacrifice made by your service member and family. Our pastor, Kenneth L. Beale, Jr., will preach a message entitled, “Freedom:Free, but Costly.” At the conclusion of the worship hour, all of the congregation will be invited to silently pay their respects at the garden and there place poppies at each of the crosses. A Memorial Rifle Squad of the Fort Snelling National Cemetery will fire vollies as the US flag is lowered to half-staff and Taps is played. Following your visit to the Memorial Garden, your family is invited to attend an informal reception (weather permitting) outside of the Chapel. The Memorial Garden will remain until 5:00 p.m. on Monday, 27 May (Memorial Day).
As this Christian worship service has traditionally been well attended, we would be happy to reserve seating for you and yours. Prayer Shawls 4 Fallen Soldiers ([email protected]) is an organization with groups throughout the country who work to send handmade prayer shawls and/or lap robes to families who have lost a loved one while serving our country. Members of Trindle Spring Lutheran Church would like to extend our sincere sympathy and to honor your loved one's sacrifice and memory by sending our prayers and comfort through a prayer gift which will be mailed to you. Outside of the historic Fort Snelling Veterans Memorial Chapel will be a “Memorial Garden” filled with some 200 white crosses bearing the names of the war dead … including your loved one. The Memorial Garden’s perimeter will be manned by members of the Patriot Guard and a honor guard from AMVETS Post #1 of Mendota will be posted at the entrance.
The Memorial Garden will be encircled with larger white crosses representing all of the wars in United States history and give honor to all who have served their country and made the ultimate sacrifice for the freedoms we enjoy today. My deepest condolences are given for your loss.
I do remember him, back in 1999 at Ft. Eustis he was part of my class of Chiook Repariers #32-99.
I welcomed his thirst for knowledge and his ability to see the lighter side of things. Altho he expected a lot out of the rest of us he never made us IET soldiers feel any less of a soldier simply because he had been in longer. He was always trying to teach us everyday how to be better at anything. I for one truely miss him and will grive with you forever too.

I was not privileged to have known Sgt Paul F Fisher but I do want to take time to honor his life and remember his heroism for the freedom of others. Even though some time has passed since he left this life, I extend my most sincerest of sympathies to his family and friends and I will keep you in my prayers. I choose to think of our soldiers as a son or a daughter of all of us Americans. We are so very proud of them and their commitment to freedom. Thank you Paul for every thing you did to make this world a better place to live. Rest in peace, son.

It is difficult to know what to say since I want to express my sincere sympathy to the family and friends of Sgt Fisher. Please know that your loved one is not forgotten. I wish everyone impacted by this tragic loss strength and peace. I hope that Sgt Fisher knew that there are people in America who respect his great courage in serving as a member of the US military. Although I did not know him, I know that he must have been a very special person to be willing to do something that most Americans will never have to experience, and for that we can never say thank you enough.

I don't pretend to know what to say or do that would bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.
Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.
I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON (KIA on 07/06/07) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

My sincere thanks go out to all who take the time to send their thoughts and memories of Paul to this website. I miss him everyday and ask for his guidance and support to carry on my life. He has recently became a grandpa and I am sure he is very proud. We only wish he was here to share it with us. They say time heals all wounds, but I am afraid that this is a wound that will never heal. There will always be a huge hole in our lives because of what we have lost. Somehow we can only hope this makes us all better people. The love and pride still pours out of us when we mention his name. May you rest in peace and know you are loved still if not more than the day you left us. We think of you daily and count our blessings for having you in our lives. Fly on Paul, fly on. My heartfelt sympathy to the Fisher family in the loss of Paul. I did not know Paul, but my heart is broken and I am saddened for your loss of such a fine young person and hero. May God bring you peace in your heart as you reflect on all the wonderful memories you hold so close. Please know that you are in my heart and prayers. Paul it has been 28 months since you were taken. You are a hero and you will never be forgotten.

I have known Paul for the last couple of years. I have really enjoyed his company the last nine months. He was a member of my squad and has slept within yards of me since we have been deployed. We are all a close family in flight platoon and I truly miss one of my brothers. The company he gave and the area I shared with Paul just is not the same "fun" it used to be. I wish I could tell Paul how much he ment to us all... but I am sure he knows it now. We all miss you very much SGT Fisher. Keep flying high!

I only just met Paul in March when his wife and her friends were nice enough to let me ride along with them to see the guys before they left the states in KY. I remember thinking he was rather quiet and his wife was not but what a great couple they made. They truely showed what real love was and it was always fun to be around them. Paul was always smiling and made people feel at ease when they were with him. I feel such sadness for his wife and stepson...
