I ran this morning with other members of my Battalion in memory of some of our fallen comrades, one of the two soldiers I was honoring was SGT. Michael R. Woodliff. I returned from the run to research and get an appreciation for Sgt. Woodliff´s life. I want to extend my deepest sympathies to his family and friends and inform them his memory and sacrifice will never be forgotten. Thanks you SGT. Woodliff for your service and continue to watch down on us from above.

We are still our here thinking and remembering Michael. I still wear a bracelet with Michael's name and home town that I received in 2005 when my sons deployed to Iraq for their first tour. We will never forget and we hope that your life is filled with nothing but happy memories of our hero. Gone but never forgotten.

I wish I had known SPC Michael R. Woodliff and had known of his passing sooner, but I do want to join his family and friends in grieving for him and remembering and honoring him for all he did in this life and the giving of that life. As long as I have breath and a heart beat left in me, I will be praying for all of you, so do not feel like nobody remembers those of you that are still here, missing him so much each day. God sees you, hears you and He sees every tear you shed. And He has the Holy Spirit with you to help you through and comfort you along the way and give you the strength you need. Michael, thanks son for touching so many lives while you were here among us and for giving your life for freedom. We will not forget you. I will see you soon. Until then, rest in peace. You deserve it. God bless Michael's family and friends and may you find God's peace and true joy in your lives as you move on to fulfill His purposes for each of you.

A SOLDIER HAD DIE OUT ON THE
BATTLEFIELD;
BROKEN HEARTS ARE WEEPING FOR
THEM,
BUT TAKE COMFORT OF KNOWING
THAT GOD HAD SENT THEM A
RAINBOW FROM HEAVEN;
THE SOULS OF THE SOLDIERS
HAVE GONE TO THERE HOME
IN HEAVEN,
OUR LOVED ONE'S HAS FOLLOW
GOD'S LOVELY RAINBOW IN THE

ALL THE WAY TO THE END OF THE

THAT LEADS ALL THE WAY TO THE
OTHER END OF THE LORD'S
HOUSE IN HEAVEN,
SO JUST KEEP ON PRAYING AND
TRUST THAT GOD WILL SEND US
THAT SAME RAINBOW IN THE SKY;
WHERE OUR LOVED ONE'S ARE
WAITING FOR YOU AND FOR ME AT

I WHISPER YOUR NAME TO THE

I WHISPER YOUR NAME TO THE
WIND,
THE WIND CARRIES YOUR NAME
SO FAR AWAY ACROSS THE BLUE

THERE'S A FIRE IN THE SKY
AS THE SOUND OF THUNDER AND
LIGHTNING ARE ROARING ACROSS
THE BLUE SKY,
THEN SUDDENLY FROM OUT OF NO
WHERE I HEAR YOUR SWEET
SOFTLY VOICE CALLING OUT TO
ME IN THE WIND;
AND IT BRINGS TEARS OF JOY TO
MY EYES TO HEAR YOUR SWEET
SOFTLY VOICE CALLING OUT TO ME
IN THE WIND.

”Honor and Remember” - “Project Compassion” We love our Soldiers! We love our country and we cannot express enough love and compassion to the families of our fallen heroes. War does not discriminate – It breaks our hearts to see the faces of the fallen. We want to give this gift to the hero’s Mother, Father and/or spouse. We are a 501c3 nonprofit organization! Over 1,800 portraits have been completed and shipped to the parents and or spouse - at no cost as this is a gift from one American to another!
This is a gift! We have some wonderful sponsors who help with the costs, and only want you know that we care.
Contact us directly at [email protected] or go to www.heropaintings.com . If you have already had a portrait completed, we pray that you are enjoying the portrait and God Bless You.
Sincerely and Respectfully,
Kenna

I am truly sorry for your loss. I would have done this sooner, but I just found this website. I served with Mike, or as we in the Mortar Platoon used to call him, "Doofy" in 2-505 PIR in the 82nd Airborne Division. I was his first squad leader after he finished with his training. Doofy was one of the best Soldiers that I have had the privilege of leading. He was always out front, and he always had a positive outlook on life. He was one of the most physically fit Soldiers in our Battalion, and he showed it every time that we went to the field. His eagerness to learn and willingness to volunteer made him, with my training, one of the best Mortar Gunners that I have ever had the pleasure of serving with. While he transferred duty stations before we deployed, I was in Iraq on that cursed day. My fire base was about 45 minutes south of Bagdhad, but after his name was released, some of the members of my platoon had our own memorial for him. I will never forget him, and I know that anyone that ever served with him will always remember him as well. Thank you for raising such a fine Hero, Soldier, Patriot, and most of all, Friend.
Doofy, Stand Down Soldier, I will take it from here. All the Way, Airborne!

It is difficult to know what to say since I want to express my sincere sympathy to the family and friends of Spc Woodliff. Please know that your loved one is not forgotten. I wish everyone impacted by this tragic loss strength and peace. I hope that Spc Woodliff knew that there are people in America who respect his great courage in serving as a member of the US military. Although I did not know him, I know that he must have been a very special person to be willing to do something that most Americans will never have to experience, and for that we can never say thank you enough.
Thank you Spc Woodliff!

I don't pretend to know what to say or do that would bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.
Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.
I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON (KIA on 07/06/07) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.
REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

To The Family of SPC Woodliff,
I am so sorry for your loss and always will be. My husband served with SPC Woodliff in 2004. He was his platoon leader and was leading the convoy the day "Woody" was killed. I won't speak for my husband, but I will say what I know of him and how he feels about SPC Woodliff. He thinks of Woody daily, wears a bracelet on his wrist with his full name and rank on it. He still communicates with the soldiers in the mortar platoon and they all continue to mourn the loss of their comrade. I never had the pleasure of meeting SPC Woodliff, but I know he was special and is remembered. There are so many men out there who are proud to have served with him. There is a monument here (on Ray Barracks, Friedberg) to the losses of that deployment that bears his name. God bless you.

I feel it is the responsibility of every American to at least read the names of the brave Americans that have made the ultimate of all sacrifices. Although not personally acquainted, I feel the loss.
