Hello,
We wanted you to know that we will be honoring and remembering your loved one this holiday season. We have recently sent Care Packages to our deployed troops in his name. Each package will carry the name, photo, service branch, rank and hometown of Cesar F. Machado-Olmos US Marine Lance Corporal.
We realize that this is a small tribute, but we do this with all respect and sincerity and we want you to know that it is made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals from across the American youth hockey community, our family, friends and many others who support our mission.
We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you safe and strong.
Sincerely,
Charlie Gili & Family

Cesar's death has been something I have had guilt about for many years. I was the one who he bugged daily to be allowed to deploy. I was the one who allowed him to fill a spot reserved for another specialty. It is something that has haunted me for years. When I got the knock on my trailer door and was notified that he had died by the 1stSgt it hit me very hard. I have not talked about this until now. To his family, I want you to know he died doing exactly what he wanted to do. I am proud of him and will never forget his dedication. I remember having a talk with one of our Doc's about him. Doc's exact words were "He was genuine". I could not agree more. Semper Fidelis

In Memory of Cesar ~ (Debra Estep)
September 13, 2008
Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.
The Wind on The Downs
“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”
(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )
Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….
“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”
I did not know Cesar, but I am remembering
his service. He is my hero. !

The Other Side
i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.
can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.
i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.
it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side
the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

I will never forget you! I remember when Mo, Bob, Littleton, Tarah, Jason and I went to Wal-Mart at like 3 AM and Mo was pushing Jason in a wheel-chair and Bob was trying to skate-board on a board still wrapped in plastic! We had good times and I will cherish those times and keep him in my heart forever!

Three years ago many lives were forever changed by the events that took place on that night. There is not a day that goes by that I don't think of Mike and Cesar and their family. It has taken me three years to accept that nothing I do will bring them back, but if I remeber what they did and the pride they did it with they will in a way still be with us. You are heros and will never be forgotten.

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.
Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.
I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend (KIA on 07/06/07) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.
REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

Yesterday was one year that Michael and Cezar walked through the gates of heaven together and our lives are completely changed without them but they will never be forgotten and I am sure that they know how much they are loved and missed. My heart goes out to Cezars family and I make a promise to honor him, my son and all the men and women who are giving the ultimate sacrifice. We have been truly blessed to have had Michael and Cezar in our lives. I promised my son and a fellow Marine yesterday, on the first Anniversary of his death, that I will honor my son and stay strong for him because I know he will be watching me and maybe I will get the privelege of hearing him wisper, "I'm so proud of you mom." I remain strong for him by reminding myself that he was strong and he made me so proud! I want to do the same for him. Sincerely, Jacqueine Mikkelson

It has been a year now. I still remeber that night like it was yesterday. I am going to Arlington today to see Halals and Machados painting at the Faces of the Fallen. I went there a month ago with my family it was hard to do but I felt it was important and also to let my family see the cost of freedom and tell them about the both of them. These Marines will never be forgoten not a day has gone when I dont think about them.

Having spent several tours in harms way, including Iraq, I have always been humbled by the unique charcter of these fine young patriots that serve, fight and at times die in the defence of Life, Liberty and the American way. I did not know your son, but I knew many like him. I am in awe at the manner in which they carry their duties and responsibilities. I want you to know that the life of your son will not be forgotten. As a leader of Marines I can speak for all who where the Eagle, Globe and Anchor. It pains us to lose any Marine and when we do, the loss affects us forever. We Marines make a promise within ourselves to live the rest of our lives worthly of this sacrifice. His offering will have this positive lasting affect on thousands of Marines and Millions of Americans. I am sorry that you were called upon to bare this loss.
Please remember that you are a part of the Marine Corps Family. Someday, when you feel you can, I would suggest that you contact a Marine Corps unit near you (reserve or otherwise) and ask to be invited to the Marine Corps Ball. I think Cesar would like that.

Patti, I haven't heard from you in a while and I just want you to know that you and your family are in my prayers regularly. Our sons knew each other and went to heaven together and I know that there is nothing worse than losing a child, I share your pain and cry, it seems all the time. I wake up thinking about them and go to sleep thinking about them and every moment inbetween. I still don't believe it. We try to go on for our other children but it is one of the hardest tasks God has ever asked me to do, and I"m sure you feel the same. I think of you often and pray for God to hold you close and comfort you and your children. Your friend, Jacqueline Mikkelson, Mom of Michael J. Halal

Mo was more than a friend to me and my family. i am glad to have had the priviledge of meeting him. if it wasn't for my brother convincing him to go UA and come to cali then we would have never met. we were supposed to get married the next time he came to see me, but now that'll never happen. i feel the pain that his family is feeling because he was family to me too, but now he's in a better place where he can watch over us. and i hope we will reunite in the future.
