Jeremy D. Bow Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 28, 2005.
In his last call to his father, Jeremy Bow joked about Iraq not being the desert playground seen in the animated movie "Aladdin." "The last thing I said to him was to be careful, to always wear his flak jacket," said his father, Art Taft. "He said to me ''Oh, Dad, don''t be an old woman. I''m always careful.''" Bow, 20, of Lemoore, Calif., was killed Oct. 30 by a car bomb in Anbar province. He was based in Hawaii. Bow was a Boy Scout active in The Church of Latter-day Saints, and loved spending time with his family. He joined the Marines shortly after graduating from high school. "From the moment he decided to join he was very proud to be a Marine, and he just wasn''t the same little boy I had known. He became a man," said Taft, a former Marine. Bow is also survived by his mother and stepfather, Lori and Jack Bow. During the 21-gun salute at his funeral, Taft said he couldn''t help imagining his son smiling. "Jeremy would have loved that gun salute. He would have been poking me in the ribs, smiling, saying, ''That was cool, Dad.''"

Time continues to move on, and I still miss you. I deeply regret not being able to enjoy the young man who I use to carry on my shoulders that became the young Marine that defended his country. My son, to say I am proud of you is an understatement, yet to say I love you and miss you still does not express my heart pain.

Hello,
We would like to express our deepest condolences and also let the Bow Family and friends know that we will be sending Care Packages to deployed troops this week and we'll be dedicating several of these to your loved one. Each package will carry the name, photo and the hometown of Jeremy D. Bow US Marine Lance Corporal. We realize that this is a small tribute, but we do this with all respect and sincerity and we want you to know that it is made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals from across the American youth hockey community. We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you strong.
Sincerely,
Charlie Gili & Family

To the family and friends of Lance Cpl. Jeremy D. Bow, our thoughts and prayers are with you in your loss. What he has done for our freedom will not be forgotten. May God bless and comfort your family.

If this person can stand in battle to ensure my freedom, then I will stand in grief with his/her family to honor him/her. For every fallen HERO there is a bright star that shines in the evening sky to remind us of the cherished gift we were given – even if for too short a time.
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courageous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guest book for the rest of my life, but I promised LE RON A. WILSON (a dear friend KIA 7/6/07, 18yrs old) that neither he nor any like him would be forgotten and so I will continue until the day there is no longer the need.

AS I WATCHED YOUR SISTER AS SHE GRADUATED FROM HIGH SCHOOL, I KNOW YOU WERE SMILING DONW ON HER. Tim Mcgraw has written a song called "if you are reading this". I hear your voice in that song. Miss you dearly my son, more than anyone will ever know. Sometime I wished you didn't follow in my shoes and become a Marine. It hurts! Your Dad..

Paying tribute to Lance Cpl. Jeremy D. Bow, on this 2nd anniversary of the day he gave his life for our country and for freedom.
Rest Well Jeremy in the Hands of God.
You will never be forgotten.
You have paid the Ultimate Price for so many.
As with my brother, whom I lost in Vietnam, you will always be loved and missed by everyone whose life you touched.

My help comes from the Lord,
Who made heaven and earth."
Psalm 121:1-2
