Hello,
We apologize for being so late in expressing our deepest condolences to you and your family. We want you to know that we will be sending Care Packages to deployed troops this week and several of these will be dedicated to your loved one. Each package will carry the name, photo, service branch, rank and hometown of Nicholas Lee Ziolkowski US Marine Corporal.
.
We realize that this is a small tribute, but we do this with all respect and sincerity and we want you to know that it is made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals from across the American youth hockey community, their families, friends and others who support our mission.
We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you safe and strong.
Sincerely,

In Memory of Nicholas ~ (Debra Estep)
November 14, 2008
Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.
The Wind on The Downs
“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”
(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )
Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….
“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”
I did not know Nicholas, but I am remembering
his service and sacrifice. He is my hero. !

The Other Side
i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.
can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.
i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.
it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side
the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

Hi Nick...It's been awhile, just wanted to let you know that I am always thinking of you. I am deeply honored to have known you and the fact that you became my friend. Our deployment together will always be in my mind and I will never forget the day you left. Having to tell the guys you were gone was the hardest thing I ever did. One day I will come to see you. Please tell Todd and Kirk I said hello

Tracy & Andrew, how we love both of you, and regret that our paths have crossed because our sons fought and died in the Battle for Fallujah. Every single Iraqi I met in Jordan, without exception, expressed tremendous gratitude for the freedom bought with American blood. What a blessing you have both been to us. We love you and pray for you often.

Ski,
You were such an inspiration to so many people. For all the times you came to bible study and for all the times you brought your smile with you I will always be grateful. I woke up this morning (like I do many mornings) and thought of you, your family and how many lives you changed for the better.

I Am Not Gone
I have not left you
alone in the night
I have not let you out of my sight
I did not go into the ground you walk upon
Where grass grows to live
not escape
I am not in a dark cold place
I did not surrender
all the love I had
When my life transfered
from there to here
I can feel the pain
of your every tear
Though unseen
behind you in the mirror
Surrender to doubt
if you think I'm there
It is I causing those chills
running ear to ear
Dear precious loved ones
I am not gone
I am still here
Watching you close
from very, very near
I can be with you everywhere
Send you signs
hear your every prayer
So turn your head
when you feel me near
I might just be
standing next to you there

I just stumbled upon this site and am regretful I did not earlier. I am glad this is not a face to face event as I am sure I will get choked up talking about Nicky, so here goes.
Nick and I both started in 6th grade at Boys' Latin. We became friends shortly thereafter and it only grew from there. He was my brother seperated only by blood. Every weekend was spent either at his house or mine finding some way to entertain ourselves, quite easily. He showed me the true meanings behind TRUTH, DEDICATION, VALOR,and RESPECT. He was true and respectful to every single person he ever met. There isn't anyone who ever met Nick that didn't love him, vise versa. He was dedicated to his religion, education, family, and friends. One summer down at the beach with my family, my brother, Nick, and I met these two girls (whose names I forget..please forgive me). One of these girls taught Nick about Jesus Christ and on that beach Nick accepted Jesus as his savior and was baptized. I have never seen someone take on a transformation like he did. It was amazing and something to behold. That was who Nick was. Never afraid to try something new. He welcomed challenge. Not a moment goes by that I don't think about him. I cherish every moment I spent with him. Street wars, capture the flag, BB gun fights, the silver bullet, basement boxing, the pyramid, midnight meals, ocean endurance, the beach every summer, and every other little thing we did. Having him in my life was a privaledge and an honor. I am a better person because of Nick. I will always have a hole in my heart because I miss him dearly; however, I am greatful to know that he, as well as, my father and many others will be the welcoming party to the pearly gates.
I'll finish with something Nick taught me: "Remember the past, live today to the fullest, and hope for the future." My heart is always with Nick, rest in peace. My heart and best wishes are also with you Momma2, Mrs Miller. Love and endless best wishes
~Pete2~

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.
Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.
I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.
REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

I only had the pleasure of meeting him once through his bestfriend Daniel Weathers when they were based in NC, but from what I gathered he was a great guy. I am a navy corpsmen, I had the distinct pleasure to serve side by side with ski, I remember talking to him while waiting to use the internet in Iraq. We spoke of how we would return and go surfing at cape hatteras. Upon recieving news of ski's passing, That night was one of the darkest night spent in falluja. I went to visit ski (grave) this year, I spoke to him and asked that he keep a watchfull eye on the unit he was stripped from and that he is missed but will never be forgotten. nick was a good friend of mine at Boys' Latin School in baltimore. enough, truly can not be said about his character. nick was really such a classy guy who was always given respect simply because he always gave everyone else so much respect. i ran into nick at the towson diner last time he was home. we exchanged numbers and planned to meet up when he was home for good, which he did look forward to. in middle school, i remember staying over nicks house for like 4 nights in a row while he waws teaching me to do a kickflip on my skateboard, another thing nick was a natural with. he will be missed deeply. my only comfort is knowing he believed in what he was doing. ~zachary margulis~

I was in Platoon 1078 at Parris Island with Cpl. Ziolkowski, our senior drill instructor was Ssgt. Cave. I graduated alongside Cpl. Ziolkowski on Sept. 28, 2001. We shared the tragic moments of 911 together. Today is the 27th of May 2005 and today is the first time I've heard of Cpl. Ziolkowski's passing. I myself have been deployed twice with the 1st CEB out of Camp Pendleton, Ca. I'm an 0621 field radio operator and I've had to witness such events. Cpl. Ziolkowski left an impression and I have one memory of him that I'll never forget. He had a wonderful way of explaning things with his paced speech and calming tone.

I did not know Mr. Ziolkowski, but we get phone calls for the Ziolkowskis all the time - apparently, our phone number is being given out when 411 is called to reach them. We have gotten their calls for four years, but were very saddened when reporters and friends of Mr. Ziolkowski's started calling this past week. Please accept our condolences. No one should have to lose a child, no matter whether they are little or adults.
