Hard to believe its been over 20 Years since your passing in Iraq now. As your commander in the 3rd Infantry Division deployed there, I remember that somber night at Camp Liberty and think about it often. I'll continue to send my condolences to your family. Rest in Peace SPC Deem.

Hello dear Shawn. We think about you often and earth is not the same without. I know you are much happier where you are though and for that we are grateful. Your Mom is my special friend and I love her dearly. You and Brian were her world and always will be. Watch over her and Carter and keep them safe and sound. Tomorrow is Easter Sunday as you know. God's love for us knows no limits. Watch over all of us on our journey back to Him and we will all be together again. Love you, Shawn. Aunt Anne and Uncle Dave Griffith.

Shawn how very lonely it is here on earth without you, I have added a song for you that speaks volumes. "Dancing in the Sky" for any family member or anyone who has lost someone dear who would like to listen it can be heard on You Tube or just simply google it. Shawn you are in heaven and still doing God's work here on earth, Robbie 2nd. Lt. USMC your step-son is been confirmed this Easter weekend, what a positive effect you had on that young man's life I truly believe you guided him to this path of becoming a Catholic. We are so very proud of him.You have done God's work and continue to do so. You have received God's just reward and are truly His soldier in Christ. Until we meet again my sons, missing you both. Your mom & Carter.

Memorial Day, 2013, is almost here. I will be visiting Michael Shawn's gravesite as I have done every year since his death. I feel honored to be able to place a new flag and some flowers on his grave. I will spend a few moments remembering my nephew and the family he left behind: his widow, Lynn, his son, William, his daughter, Maran a/k/a Josie, his mother, Rita, his father, Mike and their respective spouses, Carter, Jo, plus aunts and uncles and cousins. I take comfort in knowing Michael Shawn is with his brother, Brian, and his grandparents and my own sweet Honey - basking in the light of our wonderful Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. What a lovely day it will be when we are all together again in heaven! If any of our family is reading this, I send my sincerest love and heartfelt comfort to you all.

Just received a phone call today from my sister regarding a recent entry that has touched me deeply. I wish to thank everyone who has entered a short message to my son who gave so much for all of us. I sometimes miss your unexpected phone calls late at night but I guess God had his plans as well. I miss him very much even though he is forever in my heart and prayers.I pray the recent entry was made by his daughter as there is no name attached to the message. I know his son William loves and misses his father very much along with his sister. Mike I know you can't be with me now but I also know some day we will be reunited in heaven. You are and remain my hero.Whomever made that lovely entry, please contact me.

I visited his grave again on Memorial Day. Brought the usual flowers and a flag. I wish I could do more. It seems so little to bring when Michael Shawn gave so much...thanks for serving our country and for leaving a legacy in your children. R.I.P. nephew.

It doesn't seem possible Michael Shawn has been gone for six years.
Memorial Day will be here soon - another wreathe to place on his grave. He is not there, but his memory lives on. May his family receive peace about his passing and know Michael Shawn will live on in the hearts and minds of all Americans who honor their deceased veterans.

May Michael Shawn always be alive in our hearts as he is saluted and honored by so many on each Memorial Day and Veteran's Day. Strangers who never met him consider him their war hero - as indeed he was - but more than that, they salute his wife and children and Mom and Dad in their grieving and their loss. They cry as well and make every attempt to be compassionate toward Michael Shawn's family. It has to be in those moments that we find strength and honor and peace in a young soldier's memory and his ultimate sacrifice for our great country. Thank you, my nephew and my god-son, for your dedication and your perseverence for I know that even now, that same dedication and perseverence is continuing as you intercede in heaven for all whom you loved here on earth.

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.
Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.
I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

Psalm 23
1
The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.
2
He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters,
3
He restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
4
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
5
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.
6
Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.
This is a verse that I have found to be comforting to me during my husbands death. Remember that when it seems that no one else is round, God is still there with you! And he will be your rock!
My daughter,McKaLyne, and I send our heartfelt sympathy for your loss! God Bless this warrior, God Bless those whom serve freedom's cause! They are our true HERO's!!!!

Dear Rita, Carter And Family, What can a person say at a time like this? No words can adequately express the sorrow we feel for you at the loss of your son, Michael Sean Deem. Take comfort in the fact that he gave his life in the service of his country and also that he is now united with his brother, Brian. They would want you to be strong and courageous like they were and to draw from them the strength you need to go on. Know that there are many people who love and support you and will be there to help you through this very sad time.
Condolences to Michael's wife, Lynn, and his children, Marin and William. May God be with them to give them comfort and the strength they need to come to terms with this terrible loss.
All our thoughts and prayers are with you.
With love from Tom and Theresa Ennis and Family.

Michael we have fond memories of you as a young boy. We certainly enjoyed the last time you visited us. We had not seen you in several years but we always kept up with how you were doing when we talked to your mom.
Seems like you were much too young to leave us but God had other plans for you. I know you are busy carrying out His plans right now. It is still very hard on your beautiful mom and all you family and friends. Dave and I have a picture of you, your son and daughter and your mom on our refrigerator. The smile on all your faces could light up a room. I am so glad your mom sent us that picture because it is the one that will stay in our memory.
Pray for us. We love you. Anne and Dave
