Angelo L. Lozada Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 20, 2005.
The last call from Angelo Lozada was a happy one: He was going to be home in time to surprise his mom for Mother's Day. "He told us he was coming home in two weeks. He wanted us to drive down and pick him up," his sister Angela said. Lozada, 36, of Brooklyn, N.Y., was killed April 16 in combat in Ramadi, Iraq. He was based at Camp Hovey, Korea. Growing up one of eight children, Lozada earned a reputation as a practical joker who always looked out for his younger siblings. He joined the reserves after graduating from high school, in part because he wanted to see the world. "He wanted to travel and he got to. He was gung ho all the way," his brother Antonio said. He had three children and a grandchild he never got the chance to meet. His son, Michael, said his father often brought him to the movies and coached his baseball team when he was little. "He was a sweetheart," said his brother, the Rev. Augustin Rodriguez. "He cared very much for everyone _ he was just a good person."

To the family and friends,
I am so so very sorry for you loss. There are no words to express how hard this must be. I wanted to let you know about a memorial I am working on to honor the soldiers from the New York City Area. I am creating a quilt with a panel for each fallen soldier. I am trying to contact the families to invite them to create their loved one's panel. If you are interested please contact me at [email protected]

I don't pretend to know what to say or do that would bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.

Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.

I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON (KIA on 07/06/07) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

Angelo was my uncle and I am very proud of him. It would only be better if he was still here to spend the holidays and birthdays with us. I am so happy that he served our country, also to know that he really cared. He died doing what he loved. This is why I love him so much. He is my biggest hero ever.

Angelo you were like a brother to me. You kept my spirits up while we were together in Korea. We spent a ton of time together. You got me toasted on my birthday. It hurts to know your gone. I was looking forward to seeing you again. I will miss you.

to a great friend, that i mentored when he first came in the army. i gave angelo hell about being in the best shape he can but cheeseburgers came first, haha, i loved him like a brother, we were very close. before i left korea, i told him to stay low and come home as fast as he could, seems god had something bigger planned for him, he will be in my thoughts until my dying days, god bless you angelo, i know he is looking down on all of us and smiling, wishing we were with each other, he was a friend, and i will miss him dearly, goodbye my friend, see you soon,
