Jennifer M. Parcell Obituary

Many years have passed since this fine young American gave her life in the cause of freedom. I watched a video of Jennifer's mother saying that she hoped she would not be forgotten and I would like to assure her that the opposite is true. Jennifer is remembered more for the life she led, the courage and care she exhibited, especially in the Lioness programme than the manner of her passing. The words written by her comrades speak volumes about this remarkable young woman and even those of us who only came to know of her afterwards have gained an understanding of who she was and what she would have accomplished had she been granted more years. Peaceful days and better memories to her family and her community.

I wear a memorial bracelet for you everyday and you will always be alive in my memories. My family got us bricks next to each other that I visit everytime I see my mom. I tell everyone who knows me your story. Semper Fi Corporal. Lost but never Forgotten!

I came across your name today and did not realize that it has been 8 years. I remember all of your young faces in Okinawa. I was shaken when we got the news, you were the first Marine that I knew personally that succumbed to war. I cried for you then and now. Rest easy Marine, and bask in the glory of God who I know has taken you into his arms.

Every February 7, I will remember what happened that day. I had the opportunity to served with Cpl Parcell during her time in Barwanah Iraq. Gone but not forgotten.. Semper Fidelis!!

I seen your Memorial today on TV and although we didn't know each other personally, I seen "Gunny Rob" during one of the interviews. He was my squad leaer during my first tour in Iraq back in 2003. He was a Sgt at the time and now I'm guessing he was your Company Gunny. I'm writing to you today to say "I'm Sorry"... I'm sorry that, I never got to share your fate, I'll never forgive myself for making it home while Heros like you never did. The world is empty without you and this world is better off without me. So tell God you have a Sgt willing to take your place, and if he asks why? Tell him becuase that's what he was put on this earth to do...

My name is SFC James Bodensteiner and I worked in the same airport in Iraq where Jennifer did. She was like a little sister to me and she will be missed not only by her friends and family but by the world for how she lived her life. My condolences to her family and I leave you with the thoughts that she died serving her country but most importantly she died serving with her fellow Marines and to me that was more important. I will never be able to forget her not because she died but because I knew her when she lived.
