Brian A. Escalante Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 20, 2007.
Brian A. Escalante's mother described him as a man of few words before joining the service, but said that afterward, he became more expressive and seemed to grow into his own. "I just noticed how he cared so much more for people after he joined the Marines," said Rebecca Escalante. One event in particular sticks out _ how he once assisted a man at the site of an auto accident, even as the flight that would take him back to his Marine training camp in California prepped to leave. Escalante, 25, of Dodge City, Kan., was killed by a roadside bomb Feb. 17 in Chidish. He was assigned to Twentynine Palms. He studied criminal justice at Dodge City Community College and was on his second tour. A basketball fan who stood over 6 feet tall, Escalante harbored a protective side _ and enlisted even though most of his family tried to talk him out of it. "He wanted to better his life and help his country. That's why he joined the Marines," said a sister, Kristi Sanchez. He wouldn't listen to us. Nobody could ever talk him out of it." He also is survived by his wife, Crystal, and a 2-year-old son, Aidyn.

Hello,
We would like to express our deepest condolences and also let the Escalante Family and friends know that we will be sending Care Packages to deployed troops this week and we'll be dedicating several of these to your loved one. Each package will carry the name, photo and the hometown of Brian A. Escalante US Marine Lance Corporal. We realize that this is a small tribute, but we do this with all respect and sincerity and we want you to know that it is made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals from across the American youth hockey community. We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you safe and strong.

Sincerely,

I'm sorry for your loss. My brother's life ended the day your husband's did. His name is Shane Kirby and he held your husband while he passed. I hope I'm not reopening old wounds but I hope you know that you are not the only one that Brian's life impacted. Your husband must have been an amazing human being.

I spent the majority of my first deployment with him. He and I were the one people who was always stuck together in a truck. From late Sept. to Dec. It might not seem that long but when you sleep 6ft from the guy it has an impact. I would always steal his ipod to listen to music and still remember the songs I would listen to. In his memory I have his rifle and an abbreviation of his name tattooed on the inside of his left wrist. HE WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!!

My favorite memory of Brian is his dedication to his son, Aidyn. There is no question in my mind that Brian loved and cherished his boy, no matter where his job took him. He will be missed, but I believe Aidyn will know that his Daddy loved him.

I never knew Brian personally, but respect and appreciate what he did for OUR country. I know that he is missed more than words can say. I feel close to anyone who has family in the military, even if I don't know them personally, because my brother is in the Army Reserves. He's getting ready to do his 2nd term over there. I am scared. But I know that he's doing what needs to be done. Thank You Brian for fighting in what you believed in, and for doing your all to protect our country. I will FOREVER be thankful for what you did. Rest Always....

Brian, a proud father, husband, brother and son, you are a soldier. A soldier to your family and to America. Thank you for all that you have done to change people's lives for the better. You have an amazing son, I know that you see him everyday the same way that we see you in him. You have left a lasting impression on all of those that knew you. I pray to god that you are receiving your gifts in heaven for all that you have done down here. You will be missed and forever loved.

Its different not having you around bro. I was on Bn duty when the call came through. Your death hit me hard it was a trip to see you come and go so fast. I wish you could still be here but god had other plans. Thank you for giving your life for other. My heart go's out to your family.

August 18, 2007

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.

Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.

I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

Freedom is not free; it is paid for by out heroes, and for those who fight for it, Freedom has a flavor the protected will never know! This young Marine paid the untimate price for our freedom.

I know the pain parents feel when they loose a child. I lost a son 19 years ago. It is a pain that defies description. It is a pain that never goes away. It is a pain that will never end. It is a pain that is all consuming. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

May God Bless and keep you today, tomorrow and forever!

Some people have to ask if they made a difference in the world but
Marines don’t have that problem.

“Paid in Full”
To Honor The Service of Fallen and Injured Marines

Marines through and through, they paid the price
Six thousand miles away, we live the life
For which they paid with their blood, spirits and bodies
We will never forget what they paid in full

We hope and we pray that somehow their loved ones find comfort
In God, in the flag, in the memory of their loved ones’ bravery
They’re gone now but we see them still…proud, strong, willing
Covering each other’s backs… courageous, moving forward

What kind of love did they have for us to be willing
To give it all for the Black, White, Jew, Christian, Muslim?
We don’t comprehend but we honor you now and forever
You are Our Marines…some living…some not
Forever in our hearts we will cherish your lives

Lives too short yet immortal they’ll be
Highest brotherhood of the Few, the Proud
They stand at attention, and we gaze with awe
Some know their names not, but our admiration for them
Flows limitless within us, between us

They sacrificed their limbs or their lives
Freedom still rings, a soft sound across the miles
It tolls slowly; all of creation takes note
Of the lives that were lost for people unknown

Out of sight but not lost; forever among us
The starched blues marching straight
Toward the place where we will meet them
Many years from now…how we loved them…
Well done beloved Brothers and Sisters…You’ve paid it in full
Always Faithful Marines, You Have Paid it in Full
