Hello,
We wanted you to know that we will be honoring and remembering your loved one this holiday season. We have recently sent Care Packages to our deployed troops in his name. Each package will carry the name, photo, service branch, rank and hometown of Benjamin L. Sebban US Army Sergeant 1st Class.
We realize that this is a small tribute, but we do this with all respect and sincerity and we want you to know that it is made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals from across the American youth hockey community, our family, friends and many others who support our mission.
We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you safe and strong.
Sincerely,
Charlie Gili & Family

Sebban, I was floored by the news, just found out yesterday. It went from a joyous reunion with Army buddies on FB to finding out this devastating news. I am glad I was able to get to know you during our Nursing training. You were a great guy with a big heart and continued to show that long after we lost contact from what I have read about you from your friends and family.
Thank you for your service. You are truly one of the great ones.

To Ben's family
Facebook has brought several former classmates together and some are just learning of his passing. We think about him all the time, his sacrifice is not forgotten, still fresh in our hearts, and I believe the care each of us provides in our own nursing practice is all the better for having known him. RIP Ben, you live in our hearts and through our hands!

I am doing well in the M6 school, and I know that you are proud of me, thanks again for all the mentorship and motivation you have given me over the last 8 years that we have known eachother. I met Ben when I was stationed at Giebelstadt. We lived a few doors down from each other in a fairly empty hallway. He was the one who came to the rescue when my friend burned her hand. He had heard the commotion in the hallway and immediately began to help her and drove her to the hospital. From that moment I sensed he was a genuine person who cared for people and could be trusted. In the time I did spend with him, I knew he was proud of his work in Georgia (he showed me the sweet shadowbox given to him as a thank you) and that he aspired to go SF. After I left Germany, I looked Ben up on AKO and found that he was at Ft. Bragg and I was proud that he had made it to where he wanted to be and was sure that he was happy, too. Yet, today I looked to see if he had a Facebook page and instead learned of his death three years ago. I am truly sorry for the everyone's loss, even if time has passed. I felt that Ben was a model soldier, medic, and human being. Reading everyone's posts only confirms that to me. I am glad to hear he is at Arlington. I will make a visit today. I think it says a lot that I never forgot his name.

Ben and I went to a youth group together in SOuth Amboy. We always had a good time we would play basketball at church on sundaqy nights. I moved to North Carolina in 1995 and never saw Ben again. When I heard of his passing and read his story I was reminded of the great person he was even when we were young kids. I have 3 boys ages 8,6,and 3 and they all know of daddy's friend Ben. They always ask me when I am reading stuff about him why are you crying daddy he is safe now and in heaven with GOD. They know he and every other soldier are true heroes. We all need to take a moment and remember that so next time you see a soldier tell them thanks!!!

Ben you I remember you as an outstanding person and Soldier. I remember shortly after you started working for me in the 67th Combat Support Hospital how impressed I was with your work ethic and compassion as a medic. I wished I had 10 of you working the floor. I hated the day you came to me and asked if I would help you go work with the Foward Surgical Team but knew it was the right thing to do. It was always great running into you because no matter what, you had a smile and something nice to say. When I found out what happened on my birthday it was like a ton of bricks fell on me. I would always say I was proud to be a Soldier and Honored to be called one but now I have to add "and very blessed to have served with one of the best" miss you buddy. SFC (ret) McCoy

Ben,
We salute you this Veteran's Day. Your sacrifice to country and your fellow soldiers reminds us of the sacrifice Christ made for all mankind, always thinking off others before yourself.
To Barbara, Dan and Dave, you are all still in our thoughts and prayers. My family was so moved when we visited Ben's grave at Arlington about a year ago. There were many momentos left behind by fellow soldiers. He truly made an impact on those he served with. Take great comfort in knowing he is now praising the Lord. We look forward to seeing him again.

I went to Word of Life with Ben in our 1st year. My brother (GySgt M.L. Kiernan USMC) was deployed to Afghanistan & Iraq & lost many of his men. My little brother (Pvt N.M. Pier USMC) is being deployed to Iraq as a machine gunner this summer. The reality is difficult, but the knowledge that the military is filled with brave men & women just like Ben makes it easier to let my brother's go. Thanks for being an example, Ben. People are still learning from you.

I continue to keep your family in my prayers. I know how difficult this year has been for you. Between Nancy and I taking the kids to spend time with their father, we always spend time with Ben. I also have about 400 pictures from our time in the 91C course at Fort Bragg on my myspace page, there are a few pictures that are just how our classmates remember him, the comedian. I have had opportunity to share Ben's story with my classmates as I complete my nursing degree at Univ of Tampa. I continue to pray for your comfort and hope your pain is eased in knowing how many soldiers are inspired by your son and brother.

To Ben Sebban's family:
I have been trying to reach a family member. I've dedicated my book, Vino in Vo, to Ben and two other soldiers that have served alongside my husband, but Ben is very special to me. When my husband was first assigned to Bragg, his unit was set to go to Iraq in July, which meant that he would miss another birth--he was in Iraq when our first son was born. I prayed that something would change and that my husband's tour would be delayed. And then Ben walked into our lives and answered my prayers. He had heard about my husband and volunteered to switch with him.
Ben came over our house before he left for Iraq. I was very pregnant and he told me that he had children--that all his soldiers were his children. And he told me that even though my husband was the same rank, and that they were in different units, he still felt that he had to take care of him. I thought he was an angel living on Earth. I can only imagine the good things he's doing in Heaven.
When I heard of Ben's death, I cried until I finally realized that he wouldn't want me to. I think of him every day and I'll never forget him. The extra months Ben gave my husband with his family is priceless.
My husband is in Afghanistan now, but I'm sure Ben is still watching out for him.
Although Vino in Vo follows three Army wives surviving their husbands' tour of Iraq, it also describes how wonderful our soldiers are--soldiers like Ben. I hope you find it a fitting tribute.

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.
Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.
I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

Today, as I do every day, went to my son's web site and I see he has has signed in today and a great sigh of relief escapes my lips.
Yet, I am sadden that not all families can have this moment of thankfulness - their brave hero has passed.
My son, Sgt. Marc Adams, Combat Medic, 5/73rd 82nd Airborne is in Iraq.
Then I looked at his collection of pictures and see one with a caption 'R.I.P. Ben KIA March, 17, 2007.'
Marc knew Ben!
I am so sorry for your loss and my heart grieves that much more as Ben was a friend of Marc's and a fellow medic.

“Soldier”
Written to Honor the Service of Our Fallen Soldiers
Soldiers write history…they pay the price
Many miles distant, you live the life
Entered the Battle of our own free will
Out of Duty for Country, and we’d do it still
We hope and pray that all will find peace
In God, in the flag, in memories of valor
Gone now, our pride and courage you see
“An Army of One” our motto forever
Willing to risk all for love of our Brothers
We’re still Your Soldiers…and we showed the way
Our Lives too short, now pray for the others
Lived free died Heroes in lands far away
Deep within souls all cherished our Service
We’ll always have what some never know
Courage and Honor, our names forever
Lived life with purpose…just our time to go
We march in the Heavens with Honor and Glory
Missions accomplished we fought the Good Fight
Many years from now…we’ll tell the full story
Until that Day we will live in the Light
Our lives we laid down in a land far away
Still watching o’er you this night and by day
No need to talk…just know we are with you
There in your hearts and we hear what you pray
Yes we are your soldiers
Our lives we laid down
Still We guard o’er you
Still Duty bound
Entered the Battle of our own free will
Out of Duty for Country, and we’d do it still
We’ll always have what some never know
Lived life with purpose…it was our time to go

I had the privilege and honor to serve with Sebban while he was stationed in Babenhausen, Germany. At the time he was my equal in rank (E-4), but when he left the unit and came back to visit less than 2 years later as an E-6, I knew he was destined for greatness in the U.S. Army. He was always willing to help anyone with anything at any time. I cannot imagine the emotional pain that his family has gone through and will go through but rest assured that he is in a better place now, looking down on his family and friends. He has made the ultimate sacrifice for his fellow soldiers and the human race in general and the world will be worse off for his passing. God bless all who knew him and all of the lives he touched while on this Earth.

I am proud to call Ben my friend. It's an honor to have him go out a hero. His family, friends, and fellow soldiers were very important to him...and he gave his life protecting all of them.
When we graduated from WOLBI I never thought that I would be standing in Arlington for his funeral, but then again, we don't know what tomorrow is going to bring. He's touched so many lives, it was incredible to see the town of South Amboy show how much they love him...Ben would have been so honored. It seems as if everyone who knew him feels the same way about him. Ben was a great man, a great soldier, and a great friend.
It is a comfort to know that he is born again and is now with our Lord...but, I will miss him. I can't wait to see you again Ben,

I knew Ben from WOLBI, we hit it off right away, we both later ended up in Chattanooga TN and soon rented a house together, then he joined the army, and a few months later i did as well. i thought i lost contact with him, but not long after that we ended up at ft. Bragg together. He even went out of his way to be in my wedding. It was amazing how our lives unintentionally mirrored each other. Ben was truly a better man than I was, he inspired me through his life and his death to be more than I was, and to live a life of integrity, as well as mischief. He really knew how to have fun, and we sure did have alot of it. I'll always miss Ben, he had the biggest smile, and an even bigger heart, he always thought about other people before himself. He had a special gift to see the good in others. I'm so happy to know that he is in heaven , it makes missing him so much nicer, i'm sure he is a guardian angel or something, i can picture him applying for the job. =)
We miss you Ben, till we see you again.

Dear Sebban family,
I served with Ben in Iraq with the 5/73 and was injured and sent back to the states about one week before he died. I want you to know that he was one of finest medics I've worked with and was a good christian brother. I know I'll see him again someday. We rode out on the last mission together, in the same vehicle. He was a brother to me, and I know he loved his family and often talked about how he loved hanging out with his brothers. I would love to talk to any of you anytime.

I woke up this morning to what was supposed to be a beautiful day, but the clouds are heavy, rain is falling, and we have lost a dear friend. My husband and I send our deepest sympathy to his mother Barbara, and his two brothers. Yor son was our friend and now he's our angel.

I went to vocational school with ben. We were both in health tech class for two years together. He was a great friend and a better man. He was always quick with a joke or a smile. The last time i saw him he called to tell me our friend james was killed in kosovo and we attended the wake together. He would be very proude to be burried at arlington. He gave his live saving others and if he knew he would have died going to iraq he still would have gone. Ben i miss you and wished we had kept in touch more than we did. You are a hero and you have touched many lives. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. You are now with james rest easy my friend. Today we honor you. Thank you for your duty and sacrifice. God bless you and all our troops.

I lost my husband July 17th 2006. I am saddened for your family's loss as well. Please know that there are many avenues of support available to you. I wish you all the best in your healing process. Everyone will tell you that with time things will become easier. They however don't become easier, they just become more tolerable. I was married to the best man in the world for almost 8 years. He was wonderful and caring and loving and loyal. I miss him everyday but I continue to hold my head up in his memory and his honor. He'd not want to see me sad and miserable and it'd be unjust to live that way when he loved me for my spirit and love of life. You must now find the strength within to carry on the way your son and brother would've wanted. He will always be loved, appreciated and missed by every American.....I am sorry for your loss. I wish I could be there for the funeral to offer my support, however its just too soon to attend something so close to home in my heart. I will think of you and your family. If you need anything please do not hesitate. While I will never understand what you are going through, I do walk down the same road in a different pair of sneakers......
May he rest in peace

I knew Ben from way back in the days of St Mary Elementary School and as a local kid from town.
He was a most sincere person to say the least. I last saw him just over a year ago. We had a few drinks and talked about Airborne school and Fort Bragg as I was also a Sergeant in the U.S. Army, serving as a paratrooper at Fort Bragg.
He was very proud of military accomplishments, and rightfully so. Judging by the overwhelming amount of personal accounts from soldiers who knew him on this page and several others, I would say Ben was not only very well like, but an outstanding soldier and leader. I know the city of South Amboy is very proud of Ben, he will always be remembered a one of town's true heroes.

To the family of SFC Sebban:
I served with Ben during Phase II of the 91C (LPN) school at Fort Bragg. I have many fond memories of your son and brother. Ben was hilarious. I really appreciated his sarcastic sense of humor. He broke up the long days of sitting in a classroom with humor. He was so smart too. He would lead study groups and help out classmates who needed extra tutoring. Even though he had a leg injury at the time, he was always striving for excellence. Being at Fort Bragg inspires a soldier to be the best. After running down Ardennes, he would always be so pumped up to go to airborne school or whatever adrennaline inspired activity he could imagine, and he would do it too! He had such a personality that you were just drawn to him. He often talked about his brother and their mischievious childhood. He loved his family dearly. Ben was a great friend. He had so much integrity. He was the kind of guy you would immediately trust. Ben was the kind of guy who you could count on, for anything. Undoubtedly he was among the best NCO's the Army had. He was proud of his country, proud to be a soldier and I am proud to call him my friend. My heart goes out to you. Please accept my prayers and sympathy.
Sincerely,
Victoria Glynn

To Ben's Family --
When I first heard the news, I was praying that it was incorrect. When it was confirmed, I cried for you guys.
Dealing with the loss of Ben is not going to be easy. Think how fortunate we are, though, to have the assurance of meeting up with him in the future. That's the only real comfort there is.
Ben has always been a joy to encounter and his smile could brighten up any room. Think about how he's brightening up heaven...
You guys will continue to be in my thoughts and prayers.

SFC Sebban was on of the only soldiers I met out here who I planned on keeping in contact with when we returned to the states. The loss of SFC Sebban has caused all of us grief and he will be remembered forever. SGT Sanchez, Michael

To the Family and Friends of this Soldier:
I will stand in grief with this soldier's family to honor him. For every fallen HERO there is a bright star that shines in the evening sky to remind us of the cherished gift we were given – even if for too short a time.
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courageous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guestbook for the rest of my life, but I promised Brent that neither he nor any like him would be forgotten and so I will continue until the day there is no longer the need.
We lost our son SFC Brent A. Adams on 12/1/05 and it seems like yesterday. I wish so badly there were things I could say to you right now to make the pain you are feeling go away, but I know first hand there simply are no words that will bring you the comfort and peace your heart aches for. Just know that you are not alone. My heart, thoughts, and prayers are with you all as you go through this tragedy moment by moment and as you mourn this loss.
We don't know each other, will probably never meet, but will forever be united in the loss of our Heroes. We have, unfortunately joined a group none of us wanted to join, an ever-growing group of families in this situation. May God grant you peace and strength to get through this and be able once again to smile at a memory rather than have only the tears that flow so easily now. To be so proud of your loved one and so saddened at the same time is a mix of emotions very difficult to deal with as our hearts both burst with pride and pain together.
I am sorry that I never knew your soldier personally. While they can never be replaced, neither will they ever be forgotten. You must trust that sometime, someday the loving memories you have will help to sustain you and help you go on. This courageous soldier will forever be your Angel watching over you all for the rest of your lives. It's what brings me some measure of peace and comfort and I hope it will you as well.
To his family and friends in pain, I offer this comfort: When you find yourself in that dark sorrowful place, think not only of how you will miss him, but instead recall the years, days, hours and minutes gifted to you by his presence. The one thing that cannot be taken from you is your wonderful memories that now will mean more than ever.
If you ever want to talk, I'm only an e:mail away and would love for you to tell me more about your Hero.
God Bless this soldier and family who gave all and God Bless legacy.com for setting up this site where families can so quickly share their condolences and prayers with others like themselves.
