Hello,

We wanted you to know that we will be honoring and remembering your loved one this holiday season. We are sending Care Packages to our deployed troops in his name. Each package will carry the name, photo, service branch, rank and hometown of Eddie Daniel Tamez US Army Specialist.

We realize that this is a small tribute, but we do this with all respect and sincerity and we want you to know that it is made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals from across the American youth hockey community, their families, friends and many others who support our mission.

We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you safe and strong.

Sincerely,
Charlie Gili & Family

Hey buddy,
Still thinking about you. My Memorial Day tradition hasn't changed and you are the centerpiece of it. You hold my FB profile picture spot for the weekend, Eddie. I start each day with a prayer for your family, I hope they are well. You help me see the beauty of our world as I look around. Then I end my Memorial Day and mourn. Even though I've seen it many times, the movie "Taking Chance" has become the last part of my tradition. Luckily my fiance does not judge when I try to stay strong but end up letting out the big ugly tears. I usually stop the movie about half way through and talk with her about you and the good times we had. She has heard the same stories again and again but lets me re-live them because she knows how important it is to me.

I only knew you through the ARMY but that was enough for you to make a profound impact on my life.

RIP SPC Tamez

it has obviously been a few years since Eddie's untimely passing...when I think back of the family and friends of Eddie that I met during my chance meeting I can hardly keep the emotions from welling-up inside me...I am an old Soldier and in some ways have become jaded with the whole process, however, when I think about my relationship with the family, the friendship I developed with Keyris and Sandra, it is somewhat consoling to know that Eddie left behind a loving wife and family. As I prepare for my own deployment, my thoughts go back to Eddie and his family. I continue to pray for all of them and wish them the best. Respectfully, LTC Joseph H. Ramos

April 27, 2008

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers today.

The Wind on The Downs

“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”

(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )

Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….

“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”

I did not know Eddie, but I am remembering on
this day he gave his all.
He is my hero.

The Other Side

i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.

can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.

i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side

the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.

Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.

I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

We took her to Crystal beach on the other side of the ferry in Galveston we saw dolphines Leo caught some fish with the castanet and she ate some oysters the water was beautiful she didnt want to get wet but Leo blew up the little raft and Stephanie made her get in. She did but she got all wet when the boat tipped over I know you pushed it Eddie I can just hear you whats the used to coming to the beach if you dont get wet........well Keyris got wet when the raft flipped over none the less she had a nice time atleast for a little while. A Proud U.S. Soldier, A Great friend, And an Unforgotten Hero..........only three of many ways to describe my best friend Eddie "E.T" Tamez.

Everybody speaks of "How a great person he was", "How his special personality could always make you laugh" but only if you knew Eddie, can you really say, "man that is so true!!!!". Eddie was one of a kind!! I know of nobody that even slightly dislikes Eddie.

I have known Eddie for a while and we were bestes of friends trough high school ,as he used to say "we come in pairs". We were both in the ROTC program competing in an array of Drill Team competitions always placing 1st and 2nd. Eddie was a Musician, Magician, a great pool player, Comedian, a listening ear, a great bud to just hang out, and many other things that would just clutter this page!(LOL)

Eddie would always call me at least once, if not twice a week when he was stationed in Germany just to see how I was doing. Some times he would call for stupid stuff in late Hours of the morning (4:00am) and would say "Hey, you sleeping?" and I would say "yeah wassup? you ok?" Eddie would answer " HA HA yeah,I was just Checking" Every conversation we had on the phone would always end in Eddie telling me " LOVE YOU BRO!" I would respond by saying " STOP SAYING THAT" he would continue to tell me he loved me bro! Eddie would not hang the phone up until I would say " OK EDDIE!! I LOVE YOU BRO!!" it was then that Eddie would hang up. When Eddie was last here in January, the days prior to his departure to Iraq Eddie came over to my house and gave me a real tight hug, a kiss on my cheek, and whispering into my ear "LOVE YOU BRO" without hesitation I responded the same. As Eddie was walking away, I told Eddie "Good Bye bro" he turned around and said "No, Good Bye is when someone wont return, I will" (tears in my eye's)

I have endless stories to tell about Eddie and endless of good times we always had. My Favorite is the story that his sister "NITA" loves, When we both Eddie and I met our current wives Keyris Tamez And Cynthia Dominguez. ( yes im crying while I type the entire thing) We met them both the same day at the same Hour at Keyris's Quincinera Practice.

No amount of words typed on this page can describe how much I miss Eddie or the pain and grief Eddie's family and friends are suffering. The only thing we have is time, Time heels all wounds.
Eddie Tamez along with all the Uniformed Men and Women Of the United States Military are true Hero’s!!!!!!

Love you Bro!!!! We WILL see you soon! Take care of all of us and keeps us from harm!

I never met Eddie while he was here on this earth with us, yet I feel that I've known him for many years. As a man of faith, I truly believe that I have met Eddie many times in my life. I met Eddie when I was down on my luck and needed someone to spread some cheer. I knew Eddie when I was sad and needed some levity in my life. I knew Eddie when I needed someone to listen, laugh and cry with me. Eddie was a man of many virtues. One that in a short period of time, knew what it meant to really love someone. Keyris will miss his physical presence for a long period of time. Her sorrow is one that portrays a wife that was truly loved and loved in return, with no regrets and no conditions attached. In these times of materialism and a sense that the truth is only relative, it is refreshing to have personally witnessed a love that is so sincere and true. Although Keyris and Eddie only had a short time on this earth together, the love they shared is one that can carry a person through a lifetime. The story of Keyris and Eddie is just beginning a new chapter. There is one less character physically present, but the memory and spirit is strong enough to carry Keyris through. Eddie's soul and spirit will live through Keyris for years to come. She will change the world, one person at a time. I with 24 years of military service, having traveled around the world, have never met someone like Keyris. Her love for Eddie is like the fresh feeling after a hard rain. She, like Eddie is a wonderful person. I know that Eddie is speaking to her always. I look to the future of Keyris with joy, hope and admiration. She, like Eddie have elected to "run the race and fight the fight" I know that God will continue to guide Keyris and Eddie will continue to bring her love and inspiration for all of her days on this earth.

I want to say that Eddie was a great person, everyone loved him and he was the perfect son. I want to send out my best regards to his wife, because she's the one that was by his side no matter what, and I know that he's looking down from heaven and smiling upon us. You will never be forgotten, and always remembered. We love you Eddie, Rest In Peace.

I will never forget the magic tricks Tamez used to do in the barracks. The times we played poker together. My heart stopped when I heard the news and my sympathy goes out to the family.
