RIP Ray. I still remember playing football, going to hockey practice and swimming at the country club with you, Victoria and Adam. It was a great time growing up with you guys.
I just came back from the 9/11 memorial and museum and told my wife about you and how you wanted to be fire fighter and join the military. I told her that you were a real American, the type that fights and provides us our freedoms. I told her we need more people like you, especially in this climate.

There aren't many days that pass that I dont think about you Ray. I was at a hockey store over the weekend with my son, hes 9 now. I got choked up when he wanted to look at the goalie gear. I wish we could be raising our kids together telling them about all the fun we had as kids. My kids know who you are and how much I miss you and the sacrafice you made. It's been a long 11 years. I find this day just a painful as the day I was running around the hospital in Baghdad looking for Ray. When the nurse stopped me an told me Ray did not make it I was struck with a sadness I thought would be less as time goes on. It's days like today June 21st and his birthday that hurt the most. Ray was a great soldier, and an awesome young man. I will never forget Ray he will always be a part of who I am.

I visited my mothers home in California last week and we spent hours going through my old pictures and things that she was trying to get me to take out of her house. I ran across a VERY old school photo from
"Herman Leimbach Elementary School"...2nd grade class. I instantly started laughing when I saw Raymonds picture. He was my friend :).As many years as it has been, I still remember his lil goofy smile and how much he made me laugh.

son we miss you there is not a day that we don't think about you. I carried your picture on the 9-11 float in D.C with the NY firefighters. All of us honored you at the cemetery Grandma always takes such good care of your area. I visited Sgt Allen at Arlighton after the parade I presented a medal to Admiral Mullen at the world war 11 memorial, but all i could think about was if you were here you would be yelling out for LT Dan as he was there. I didn't know Raymond but my son is currently living and playing at the Banff Hockey Academy. Awards were just handed out and although my son is not a goalie, he called and told me about the Ray Spencer Memorial Award.
