Roberto J. Causor Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 9, 2007.
While on leave, Roberto J. Causor Jr. would get in his father's burgundy Suburban, roll down the windows and crank up the stereo whenever songs about soldiers played. "When Beyonce sang 'I Need a Soldier,'" said his 15-year-old cousin, Maggie, "he'd be like, 'I'm here! I'm here!'" Causor, 21, of San Jose, Calif., was killed July 7 in Samarra by small-arms fire. He was a 2004 high school graduate and was assigned to Fort Bragg. The son of Mexican parents, Causor was proud of his roots and his family's adopted country, where several relatives started their own construction and electrical businesses. By joining the military, "in a way that was kind of a payback, in gratitude," for the success many of his relatives enjoyed, said his uncle Francisco Causor. "It is an honor and a privilege to have had the opportunity to serve alongside Spc. Roberto Causor," said Capt. Buddy Ferris. "Spc. Causor epitomized the words courage, selfless service and honor; he was a paratrooper that represented all that is great about America." Causor is survived by his father, Roberto, and his mother, Maria.

Hello,

We wanted you to know that we will be honoring and remembering your loved one this holiday season. We have recently sent Care Packages to our deployed troops in his name. Each package will carry the name, photo, service branch, rank and hometown of Roberto J. "Junior" Causor Jr. US Army Specialist.

We realize that this is a small tribute, but we do this with all respect and sincerity and we want you to know that it is made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals from across the American youth hockey community, our family, friends and many others who support our mission.

We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you safe and strong.

Sincerely,
Charlie Gili & Family

In Memory of Roberto ~ (Debra Estep)

July 7, 2008

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.

The Wind on The Downs

“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”

(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )

Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….

“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”

I did not know Roberto, but I am remembering
his service. He is my hero. !

The Other Side

i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.

can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.

i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side

the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

To my little brother,
Junior, although you were taken from us at a very young age, you touched many hearts and made a difference in each and every one of them. You united two families with the love you shared with my little sister. That love will be shared and remembered for as long as we live. Rest in Peace my Hero..Your baby will grow up with love and guidance from both families. We will do our best in raising your son/daughter as you would. I'm so happy the baby had a chance to hear your voice over the phone, that way he'll know that his gaurdian angel is his Daddy. Thank you for letting me know and love you. You will be missed, but never forgotten. Love you..Your Big Sis

I just want to share this special thought to Roberto's mom and dad. I want them to know that even though the loss of their son cannot be replaced at all, I pray for them to find comfort in the many people, some of them met Roberto, some of them did not, but we all together feel so proud of this young man for his determination, for his bravery, for his willingness to give up even his own life because he wanted to accomplish a mission, to make a dream come true.

I am pretty sure he is in a better place, where he can enjoy the rewards given to heroes. I am sure he is in heaven, while you here in the earth are witnesses of the greatness of your son and the love of the people he gained with his kindness and sweeteness. May God bless you, and Roberto’s descendants. Be faithful, and sooner or later, you will join him in everlasting life.

August 4, 2007

I don't pretend to know what to say or do that would bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.

Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.

I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON (KIA on 07/06/07) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

I still can't believe you're gone! It's just so hard to believe because i just spoke to you a few days ago! I was devastated and i kept telling my family that it couldn't be you and that they probably made a mistake! But no, it's all true and here I am writing about the boyfriend i had. You loved your job but i know you were anxious to come home! You wanted to go back to school and start a career to help support me and our baby! I would also be going to school and with the help of our families. I knew that we would make it! We would both count down the days you had left so that you could come home already and so that we could start our lives together! But all those plans fell short, we lost you in Iraq! Those cowardly people took you away from us, but something that we have to keep in mind that you will never leave us! You will be watching over us, the family that you left behind! You died for us and for our country doing what you did best! You will be missed but you will definitely not be forgotten! You left a piece of yourself behind and i will make sure that this baby knows who u were and what you did for all of us! You will remain a hero in our hearts! Thank you for loving me unconditionally and for being a part of my life! I love u Junior and I will never forget u!

July 18, 2007

To the Family and Friends of this Soldier:
I will stand in grief with this soldier's family to honor him. For every fallen HERO there is a bright star that shines in the evening sky to remind us of the cherished gift we were given – even if for too short a time.
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courageous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guestbook for the rest of my life, but I promised Brent that neither he nor any like him would be forgotten and so I will continue until the day there is no longer the need.
We lost our son SFC Brent A. Adams on 12/1/05 and it seems like yesterday. I wish so badly there were things I could say to you right now to make the pain you are feeling go away, but I know first hand there simply are no words that will bring you the comfort and peace your heart aches for. Just know that you are not alone. My heart, thoughts, and prayers are with you all as you go through this tragedy moment by moment and as you mourn this loss.
We don't know each other, will probably never meet, but will forever be united in the loss of our Heroes. We have, unfortunately joined a group none of us wanted to join, an ever-growing group of families in this situation. May God grant you peace and strength to get through this and be able once again to smile at a memory rather than have only the tears that flow so easily now. To be so proud of your loved one and so saddened at the same time is a mix of emotions very difficult to deal with as our hearts both burst with pride and pain together.
I am sorry that I never knew your soldier personally. While they can never be replaced, neither will they ever be forgotten. You must trust that sometime, someday the loving memories you have will help to sustain you and help you go on. This courageous soldier will forever be your Angel watching over you all for the rest of your lives. It's what brings me some measure of peace and comfort and I hope it will you as well.
To his family and friends in pain, I offer this comfort: When you find yourself in that dark sorrowful place, think not only of how you will miss him, but instead recall the years, days, hours and minutes gifted to you by his presence. The one thing that cannot be taken from you is your wonderful memories that now will mean more than ever.
If you ever want to talk, I'm only an e:mail away and would love for you to tell me more about your Hero.
God Bless this soldier and family who gave all and God Bless legacy.com for setting up this site where families can so quickly share their condolences and prayers with others like themselves.

i didn't kno u personally, but u did go to my church when u were younger. ur aunt and uncle were my favorite teachers, and i'm friends with your cousin. when i first heard, i couldn't believe it. but it was God's timing for you. He wanted to take you home so you could be ready when it's time for the rest of your family and friends meet u in paradise. i will always remember you for being the brave young man you are, you ARE a hero. you deserve that purple heart, and i know u did so many more things in your life that deserve so many rewards, which is why i know God couldn't wait to take u home with him. you will be missed. you were very young, but you are a reminder of how much EVERYONE sacrifices to live in this country... FREEDOM ISN'T FREE... but thanks for defending that right for ALL OF US HERE IN THE U.S. Rest In Peace, jr.

Querida
Familia De Roberto:
I am an Overfelt graduate from 1970. This loss brings back memories of
losing two of my classmates in the Vietman War--Louis Rodriguez and
Cesar Mamon. My prayers are with all family and friends that they may
have the strength to carry on. As a former Commander of the American GI
Forum East Valley Chapter in San Jose, I would like to see a
scholarship given in Roberto's name. God Bless you for your service,
Roberto. I am a Vietnam-Era Veteran who became a high school teacher.
Our paths almost crossed because I taught at Overfelt from 1992-2000.
You started just after I left. I was the Chicano Student Union Advisor
and I coached Boy's Frosh-Soph and Varsity Basketball. Overfelt
students are special--just like you. Cuidate, mi hermano, y gracias por
su servicio. My wife Rita Duarte Herrera, who is also a teacher, and I
send our prayers and love.
Con Respeto,
Dr. Herrera

Que Viva Roberto!

To "My Little Roberto's Family," my thoughts and prayers are with you forever.

I was Roberto's 9th grade English teacher at Overfelt High School. His smile won me over the very first day of class as he sat in the front row smiling at me. Roberto was one of the sweetest, kindest, cutest, most generous and caring out of all my kids ever. He was truly special.

May God bless you and keep you by His side, Roberto. You will be missed. Keep smiling, kid; your smile makes the world a better place.

With love & respect,
Ms. B. (Branagan)

I DID NOT KNOW YOUR SON PERSONALLY BUT KNOWING THAT HE WAS AN ALUMNI OF THE ROYAL FAMILY (OVERFETLT HIGH) AS AM I, MAKES IT AS IF I DID. WORDS CANNOT EVER REPLACE THE LIFE OF ROBERTO JR BUT CAN HELP YOU HEAL THE PAIN THAT YOUR FAMILY IS FACING. WE ASK OURSELVES, "WHY WAS SUCH A YOUNG LIFE TAKEN SO SOON FROM THIS EARTH?" BUT HAVE THE CERTAINTY THAT HE IS IN A BETTER PLACE WHERE WARS DO NOT EXIST, PAIN DOES NOT INVADE THE HEART AND WHERE ALL IS PEACE AND JOY. HE HAS GONE TO A PLACE WHERE WE ALL MUST GO SOMEDAY, HE JUST GOT THERE A BIT SOONER THAN US. ALWAYS REMEBER THAT HE IS NOW YOUR FAMILIES GUARDIAN ANGEL AND WITHOUT A DOUBT WILL BE TAKING CARE OF YOU ALL. TO HIS COUSINS WHOM HE CARED FOR SO MUCH ON THIS EARTH, HIS DEATH HAS NOT ENDED HIS GUARDING YOU BECAUSE FROM WHERE HE IS AT, YOU WILL ALWAYS FEEL HIS PRESENCE WHEREVER YOU GO.
