Another year goes by where I wish on this date I was still in country with you. I'm sorry I wasn't there. I still remember all that you taught me. As for the family, we are good, kids are big now in middle school. Me and the wife finally had a little weekend to ourselves and went to Vegas now I see why you talked about that place so much. Miss you brother, still busy at work trying to make the world better. Love you brother.

Today is your Birthday Alfred. Memories of your first arrival of your life are like yesterday. And now 43 years later and you are a memory that will never be forgot. We smile every time we talk about you and we know you are very near. Near and dear to our hearts. You seem to sparkle with the stars as we wish you would be here with us. As a song plays on the radio, I remember your words saying to me, " Listen, listen to the words." Then I see you in the distance memory that I have of you at that moment. Blessings to you Alfred. Remember how much we all love you. Wishing you a Happy Birthday from our hearts. Blowing kisses in the wind all the way to Heaven to you.

It has been three years to the day since Alfred's passing. The pain is still there as if it was on the day of his death. We have his memories that keep us going. Some put smiles on our face and some tears.
As Alfred's Mom, I will be ever so proud of Alfred. He has given me so much. I smile as I think about him in his uniform so proud to be a soldier. It was an amazing thing to see him as a strong and brave man. How my little boy had grown up. His memories will live forever in our hearts.

May the comfort from family and friends continue to strengthen you, and may you find comfort in the words found in the Holy Scriptures: "And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away."

To the Paredez Family,
SGT Paredez was a great man who always had a smile on his face. He was my NCO/supervisor but he also was a good friend who helped me through my deployment. I was there 20 NOV 07 sitting in the seat behind your son. Not a day goes by where I don't think about what happened. I know Alfred is in a better place now. As I finish my 2nd tour in Iraq and my Army career I will always be honored to have served with such a great man.

I would like to Thank everyone who has shown love and support for Alfred and our family. Alfred was adorable as a child. He was full of love and kisses. As he grew up in to a teen, he was always making jokes and making funny voices to entertain us. As he grew into a man, I became very proud of him. He cared so much for me and his sister Isabel and Ray. He had good sound advice to give and he would have inspring and encouraging words. I just love to listen to him talk. It has been two years now since Alfred has been gone from us. We still miss him as if it was the first day that we had recieved the sad news of his death. We will miss Alfred deeply. He turned out to be a FINE MAN. The Good Lord has made our days a little easier and has comforted us when we needed it.

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.
The Wind on The Downs
“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”
(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )
Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….
“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”
I did not know Alfred, but I am remembering
his service and sacrifice. He is my hero. !

The Other Side
i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.
can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.
i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.
it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side
the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.
