Margie Howard Obituary

SOUTH BEND - On September 14, 2008, lifelong South Bend resident, Margie Howard, died at the St. Joseph Medical Center Emergency Room. Marjorie Kathleen was born on November 22, 1944, the second of three daughters born to father Julius Parko, deceased, and Elizabeth Margaret Schreiner Parko, also deceased. She is now survived by her older sister, Nancy Jeanne Parko Moore (Bill) of Valparaiso, Indiana, and her younger sister, Patricia Eileen Parko Manion (James). She is also survived by sons, Joseph and Daniel Pickens. Margie was preceded in death by her second husband, Michael Howard. As well as her sisters and sons, Margie is survived by cousins, Paul Schreiner, Robert Schreiner, Richard Gerbeth, Julie Imler, George Imler, and Michael Imler. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Margie Pickens and her children, and other nieces and nephews. Margie collected friends and loved animals, especially her beloved cat Abe. Margie's body was cremated and a Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday, October 5, 2008, 2 p.m., in St. Paul's Memorial United Methodist Church, 1001 W. Colfax Ave. in South Bend. Tributes can be sent to the Madison Center in South Bend or to the charity of one's choosing.

After a long lapse, I recently made contact with Margie's sisters, but was too late for her. I have many fond memories of childhood with all three. My sympathies to all Margie's survivors.
