Family-Placed Obituary

GRIMM, James F. 88, of Springfield, passed away on Tuesday, April 8, 2008 in the Springfield Regional Medical Center - High St. Campus. He was born on January 11, 1920 in Springfield the son of Fred and Nelly S. (Dase) Grimm. Jim graduated from Springfield High School Class of 1939 and went on to serve our country in the United States Army Signal Corps during World War II. He was assigned to the China Burma India Campaign and was a member of the "Hump" Pilots Association. Jim owned and operated Shawnee Tool & Equipment for more than twenty-five years. He is survived by his loving wife of sixty-five years, Betty (Rush) Grimm of Springfield; one daughter and son-in-law, Lucinda and Terry Rust of Springfield; seven grandchildren and their spouses: Gregory (Jessica) Sharp, Carrie (Jeff) Huston, Adam Knapp, Melinda Knapp, Tiffany Leon, Brandi (Greg) Jones, and Teri Lynn Rust; seven great-grandchildren: Everett and Carter James Sharp, Jackson, James Maxwell, and Caroline Huston, and Ashlyn and Ayva Leon; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Robert Gregory Grimm, and one sister, Mary Louise Lemmon. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 12, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. in the Good Shepherd Evangelical Lutheran Church, 712 N. Fountain Blvd., Springfield, with Reverend William McKee officiating. Private burial will be held in Ferncliff Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association, 1959 Arlingate Lane, Columbus, OH 43228-4102 or the donor's favorite charity.
