I met Butch in 1986.
He inspired everyone around him to be clever creative and curious.
We lost touch years ago but something caused me to think of him.
His circle of influence was large.
Hugs to you who are without him.

I knew Butch from high school. He was always a dreamer and loved to go to the state park where we would just hang out and dream and talk about the future. I always knew he was different and he the same for me. We went our separate ways and I left Katy behind and so did he. I often thought about the boy who was so sweet. It was almost a secret friendship we had. I went on to teach school, then conquer the rodeo world. Two totally separate paths. I just learned at our recent highschool reunion of his passing. I am so sad about this loss.

Wilson,
These years have gone by. Many changes.
But from time to time, I think of you.
You were a shining star who brought happiness and love to all of us.

My name is Ben Skeer! I met wilson on the streets of Austin Texas outside of
Mad Dog and Beans next to a head shop called South Oats?... anyway. we
became friends turned on and hung out a number of times... I am so sad to
hear of his passing...how? When...? He inscribed the back of my painting
with a date and a paragraph to me.... since then I have lost everything,
been living on the street, and been born from the ashes of a dark past, but
never lost the painting that he lovingly gave to me as a friend. I paid my
last dimes to have it stored and safe even when I was not....now I live in a
nice new home, have a great job self employed as a jeweler and artist ....
ever inspired by the words given me by Wilson..." Benjamin, Bless you and
your travels. Be just and love the people. Thank you for your Heart. Wishes
from the Heart come true. To the Past, the Now , and the Morrow... Wilson
Leary...1993.....I call this painting..."The Dance" as he said it name would
present itself to me one day....and it did.... Wilson, Brother, I LOVE and
MISS you, Benjamin....

Oh, Wilson. I only recently found out. I was looking at the painting you gave me and looked you up. We knew each other for a long time - almost 25 years. We were kids. You always kept the childlike part of you. The world is worse without you in it. Less joy, less dancing, fewer people standing up for an unpopular truth, fewer smiles, less understanding, more strife. I want to write more later. I worry about Judy. I can't say more except I wish you could have stayed.

Dear friends of Wilson,
There is a void in my life, our lives, and this world. I just want to thank everyone for the phone calls of concern from friends, Wilson's family and especially my own family. I started grieving the moment I felt Wilson's absence on that late friday afternoon. These past three weeks have opened a range of emotions so wide and so deep, painful and bittersweet... today I finally feel peace. I met some of you for the first time over the phone but had heard your names pass Wilson's lips through past conversations. Also, I recognize most if not all the names in this guest book entry. Wilson is loved more than he could have ever known. Now he knows. Thank uou...everyone, for your love and friendship and emotional support through this fragile moment of life. Oye!
Sincerely, with love,
Shirlynn*

My most heartfelt condolences to Wilson's family and friends. I am so glad to be able to say Wilson is my friend. Not was, IS. Wilson personified all that is good about Austin ... the art, the love, the odd, the sane, and the weird. His love for people is what I love most about him. His heart was bigger than Texas. I will miss him a lot but I love him more.

My dear sweet brother numsie...
You were like no other to me.
From the first time we met and for the too few years we had known each other, I felt like I had known you all my life. You were kindred to me. The trickster that you were, I never would have trusted you with the mundane crap, but there was never any doubt that I could trust you with my life.
You've touched me in ways that you could never imagine, and to me and those who knew and loved you, may you always be an inspiration to us all.
peace, love and light to you, my friend.

Wilson,
I've spent the last few days writing obituaries for you. I know you'll be reading them in the akashic records. You loved Aussies, and you and the Crocodile Hunter will be laughing up there right now. You had the Aussie spirit of defying orders when it was really critical for human to stand-up. You understood the role of art in the vision of tools.
I had your wake on Friday. I laughed recalling the story how the FBI pulled us over after World Unity and tried to arrest us for a bread and butter knife. Officer: "What's that?" Wilson:"A knife", Officer reaches for gun, screams:"Put it down! Now what's it for?!!Wilson and Me (together) "To make sandwiches Sir. Is that illegal in Arizona?"
You were a visionary who inspired me. You taught me a lot about art and technology. I am sad you didn't make it down here, to the future, to see the whales sing like we talked about. But I guess, like Friday, there'll be glimpses here and there of your spirit, your life. They might say I only remember your good side. What other side was there? We all had pain, friend. It's the human condition. My last thoughts were Friday sobering up, at the beach, considering the walk of the salamander in and out of the water during evolution. It was time to start the journey back.
I'll see you in Avalon, your friend and fellow traveller Arthur Sundance Al Cazaly Goodright(AKA Peter Collins)

Wishes From The Heart Come True...
Some place, some where, some day...
though years have past with out your smile or laugh you were on my mind last friday...
wondering how you were and where life was taking you...
I Understand ... and know that one day, that we will understand the greater Justice behind this shpear of duality and strife.
Each of us moves the pendulum but a fraction perhaps... but we make the attempt even if the outcomes are "KNOWN" in advance. We make the Choices as only we can.
I Love you "Butch"
Look down with love and aid each of in our fight for Freedom Justice and Creativity.

UT Bubble Society...
Wilson also organized the Austin Bubble society. Don't forget that bubbles are stronger and last longer if you chill your bubble juice. Also last longer on a humid day... My brother, what a privilage to have known you. I cut hair with this artist in the late 80's. What creativity at what ever his medium was!

We have lost a brave warrior of the most creative kind, a man who saw no bounderies that could intimidate him into submission, a gentle soul with a raging mind, too bold to stay with us but for a short while. Ours is the loss, his is the journey to move on, traveling past this life's boundary and into his next adventure. God speed, my friend.
