Lance, so this is the 8th anniversary. I'm always thinking about Trey and your parents and the void this has left for them and so many others. You'd have been proud of your Aggies this past Saturday looking a bit like the old Wrecking Crew. I miss you brother. You were the bond that held so many things together.

Hey Buddy,,,I was sitting here today and looking at your picture and Maddies picture and how much she looks like you. Just to let u know that she comes to visit me 2-3 times a year and she is growing like a weed. She wants to attend A&M to become a VET. She is so proud of you and her only wish is to know all about you. She watches ur tapes and marvels at what u did in your short life. Remember, behind the house in austin, where u built ur leg strength in the deep ditch, I still laugh as I see u pulling the sled. GOD, I miss you and every day I wish we were together. Some day, some day!!
love you son, DAD

I met Lance at a defensive driving school in 1994 when he was attending A&M. I was devastated to learn today about his death. I just can't believe it. Lance, you were so full of life. I just can't believe you're gone. I still have the letters you wrote me, full of your sense of humor.(I still can't believe you actually wrote them LOL) I'm reminded of your determination, and your laugh. My prayers are with the family.

My heart is heavy remembering your birthday and all the wonderful times we had over the years celelbrating your special day. "The Magic Time Machine" was one of your favorites as a child, but then "Champs" took over as you grew up. You always had to have all your friends with you to join in the fun. And we always loved having them because we all had so much fun when they were around. Trey and I are constantly reminded of the little things you did that made us all laugh. We all miss you so much. Life is not the same without you. Rest in peace...

Being one of Lance's best friends in middle school and high school, it may be belated but I needed to make my piece. First off, having kids now, I can't imagine how Mr. Tiechelman, and Lance's mother feel so much I can't keep thinking about your loss and the feelings you must have without breaking down. Same type of related thoughts to Trey because I too have a sibling. I like remembering the Lance I was close to in Middle and High School. I also keep wanting to be mad at myself for not doing more to help Lance when things seem to have gotten so bad for him. If you're listen buddy, I am sorry for not being there for you. People only have a few best friends over the course of their lives and I am so proud to be able to say you are one of my few. Rest in piece and I miss you.

Happy Birthday Lance! You'd think over time that I could come up with the right words to put here on your birthday, or the day after in this case, but it still just breaks my heart to think that I can't just pick up the phone and hear 'Yeaaop' on the other end. It's good to know that you've got Thor back by your side again. I miss you and my thoughts and prayers will always be with Howard, Linda, Trey, and all of the others whose lives you touched.

My dear Lance,
Your birthday one again brings back all the wonderful memories we had together. The vacations we took always come to mind. You, Trey, and I laughed until it hurt. Those were good times. Until we meet again, Love, Mom.

I am so glad to have found this book. I was one of Lance's best friends since we met in College in 1991. He was one of the only true blue friends that I have ever had.

I miss him and Jenn dearly and will never forget the friendships that I had with the both of them.

My deepest sorrows to his parents.

Although I had heard stories about Lance for some time, our paths had only crossed once in my memory. That was at my Grandfathers funeral back in 1990. I can still remember Lance and his brother Trey looking much like twins with their “Brian Bosworth” like haircuts which were popular at the time, and standing at least 6’4”, he was an imposing figure. And even though we never met again, his successes on the field playing for A&M would come to remind me of him from time to time. Especially when someone would hear my name and ask “Are you related to Lance Teichelman”? This lasted for many years after Lance had left A&M, which should serve as a reminder to all as to what a great player he was. His loss still saddens me, and I think about what a tragedy it was to loose him.

I knew Lance first as a goalie on my soccer team. It was before high school, so he was still a tall boy, but he had not really grown yet. We must have been about 12 or so. I was a year ahead of him, so by the time he got to Westwood, he had really surprised me in how he had grown. He was always a good person and I was glad to know him as more than someone in the halls of school. Even though we didn't associate with the same crowd, he was always a friend. I followed his career at a distance at A&M while I went to Texas Tech. It was kind of neat to see someone I knew as a pre-teenager play football at the next level. I'm sorry to hear about your loss.

I never new Lance personally but remeber wondering how I was related to him watching him play at A&M. I just stumbled across a article on the net. I too lost my father in nov of 2004 Ray Teichelman. We lost two good ones that year. Your family is in my prayers.

I First Heard Of Lances Passing When I Called The Chevorlet Dealership In January 2005 Which Was About 2 Months After His Death. I Didnt Know Him As Long As Some Of You May Have But He Was A Great Friend That I Wished Id Known Longer. He Would Call Me Before His Lunch Break At The Dealership And Have Me Bring My 2 Children And He Would Take Us To Dairy Queen For Ice Cream And Lift Them Over His Head With Such Ease. Scared Me But They Loved It. It Was Upsetting To Have To Find Out From The Receptionist That Did Not Even Know Him That He Had Passed. I Still Do Not Know What Caused His Life To End So Early And Suddenly. I Do Know That Jennifer Was With Him. He Loved Her So Much. Even With There Problems He Made It Very Known How Much He Loved Her. I Just Want Closure To This. Dawn, If Ynu Read This I Would Love To Hear From You. Thanks, Wendy

I think about him from time to time, and I see so many others do as well. He is definately one soul to remember forever. My heart cries out to the family and close friends of Lance. I just read about Thor. I miss him, too. I worked with Lance at Reliable as well, and he taught me how to never give up. He was my target, and someone who had great talent. He was not afraid to stand up for his friends, and he made me laugh. He will be missed. Jen will also be greatly missed.

He left us so quietly,

His thoughts unknown.

He left us memories,

We are proud to own.

So treasure him, Lord,

In your garden of rest.

For on earth he was

One of the best.

To the Teichelman Family. My name is Keith Alex. I was a four year A&M letterman from '87-'91. Besides making 1st Team All-SWC (along with Trey) on the offensive line, I went on to play in the NFL from '92-'97. I was truly saddened to hear the news of Lance's passing. It was an honor and a privilege to play with Lance at A&M. My senior year was 1991 and I remember that Lance was coming into his own as a football player. We had our battles during one-on-one (o-line vs d-line) and during team practices. Even though he was a few years younger than I was, I still respected the fact that he going to be a good football player eventually.I knew he had the talent to play at the next level if he continued to work hard. When he got drafted to Indy, I knew he had proved me right. Even though we will miss him physically, the Aggie spirit that we shared as A&M athletes will forever continue his legacy. Stay encouraged.

To my Daddy,

I wish we could have had a chance to get to know each other better. You are in my thoughts and prayers. I am enjoying getting to know my Grandpa and Grandma (Howard Jr and Maggie). Grandpa has told me some great stories about you growing up.

I'll see you in Heaven.

I LOVE YOU DADDY,

It has been a long time since Lance was a big part of my life but I remember him like it was yesterday. I will always hold a special place in my heart for Lance, he was my first love. I remember when he was tall and skinny with braces and he drove that grey pick-up truck with the rebel horn! We were in FFA together-he had a hog and I had chickens. I met Lance in the 8th grade and dated him throughout most of highschool. He was a lot of fun and he had a great laugh- one that came from his belly. I remeber one time Mr. Teichelman told me that God gives everyone of us a special reason for being here and he believed his reason was to raise his boys. I know they loved him very much and he is missed every day. Sincerely, Cindy

I never knew Lance but i've been watching aggie football all my life. But ofcourse A&M been part of my family sence 1932. Anyway I have seen many players come and go on the wrecking crew but werent near as good as the 1991-94 wrecking crew, with Lance#58 at nose tackle i've never seen anyone just explode like he did in a three point stance and shaking his right hand ready for the ball to be snap. I'm sadden about his passing. It feels like i lost a brother not in my family but the aggie family. God bless you all.

Some of my fondest memories of Lance are of he and my brother, Brad, constantly cracking jokes. When those two big guys came into a room..you definitely noticed. Lance was always sweet and funny. With Trey and I being the same age and Lance and Brad being the same age, it always seemed like we had a common ground. My heart goes out to Trey and the rest of the family. Lance meant alot to my family and he will be sadly missed. He will always be in our heart and prayers. Melanie
