Courtland Wilber Obituary

Courtland R. Wilber, Sr., of 56 Hillside Ave., Thompson, CT, died peacefully with his loving family by his side, on March 24, 2008, at UMASS Medical Center, Worcester.

He was the beloved husband of the late Theresa R. (Courcy) Wilber and predeceased by his oldest son, Courtland R. Wilber, Jr. and great grandson, Colin Wilber. He leaves a son, Steven P. Wilber and wife Jean of Wilsonville, CT; a daughter, Jeanne P. Wilber of Grosvenordale, CT; two sisters, Caroline Drummey of Enfield, CT and Krystl Goff of Florida; six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

He was the son of the late Hertha (Joeschke) Noe. Born on July 20, 1923 he lived most of his life in Charlton, retiring to Florida then deciding to spend the rest of his days with his family in Thompson, CT. He enlisted in the Army on Feb. 16, 1943. He fought in WWII as an Aircraft Artillery Crewman 3601 PFC with the 463rd AAA (AW) BN. He traveled through Normandy, Rhineland, Northern Europe and Central Europe until he was honorably discharged on Nov. 2, 1945. He received the WWII Victory Medal, American Campaign Medal, European, African, Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with 4 Bronze Stars, and the Good Conduct medal. He was very proud of having served his country.

He will truly be missed by all who knew him.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to TEEG in Thompson or the charity of one's choice. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

Courtland was a great man. I will greatly miss his smile when visiting the dyalisis center and His laugh with my daughter. He was truely a great man and made many people very happy. He will be greatly missed my myself and everyone else who knew him.

dear jean, im going to miss papa. Please let me know when he will be layed to rest cus i would like to attend and that he will be greatly missed by all of us (mama)
