Cecilia Stowe Obituary

Cecilia E. (Dubois) Stowe, of Francis Gardens, Shrewsbury passed away on April 1st after a brief illness, at the Rose Monahan Hospice House in Worcester. She was surrounded by her family and friends. Cecilia was the wife of Pierce F. Stowe, Sr., who died in 1979.

Cecilia leaves behind three daughters, Carol A. Clouthier and her husband, Robert of Inverness, Florida; Sheila J. Firmin of Worcester, and Jerilyn C. Tagman of Shrewsbury and a son, Pierce F. Stowe, Jr. and his wife, Christine A. Stowe of Oxford; she was the grandmother of 13 grandchildren, Steven R., Jeffrey A, and Vincent P. Clouthier, Daniel R. Kevin A., Bruce A, and Scott A. Firman and Lynn M. Early; Monica Bennett and Michelle Dickinson; Keith C., Jeffrey M., and Joseph P. Tagman; also survived by 24 great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by a brother and a sister.

During her long and wonderful life, she worked at several area businesses. For many years she was a cosmetic consultant for many top lines in the industry. She had been employed by Filenes and Denholm's and retired from F. W. Woolworths Company in the late 1970's.

Cecilia was devoted to her family. She had a remarkable memory and was certain to send acknowledgements for every occasion to all she loved.

She was sincerely interested in everyone and everything and enjoyed friendships that dated back to her grammar schools days. Her daily newspaper was a great friend and she was always ready for a discussion of daily politics. She also enjoyed the Hallmark Channel and Dancing with the Stars was a recent favorite television program.

She was devoted in her beliefs and was dedicated to her daily rosary, she believed in the power of prayer. She had a passion for cooking and could turn the ordinary into extraordinary in a moments notice. The kitchen was her favorite place to be.

Cecilia resided at Francis Gardens for 28 years; and enjoyed playing cards with her Saturday Night Poker Group and was active in many social activities with her dear friends.

For 28 years, on Monday and Wednesday she participated in water aerobics at the YWCA in Worcester. It would be a very rare occasion that she missed an exercise class and the opportunity to be with her special friends.

Her generosity, kindness, and compassion were extended not only to family and friends, but to many charitable organizations. Among her favorites were Paralyzed Veterans, St. Jude's Research, Cerebral Palsy Foundation and the Salvation Army

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Cecilia family on Friday, April 4th from 4- 8 P.M in the Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, 648 Main Street, Shrewsbury.
