Priscilla Suomi Obituary

Priscilla A. (Kangas) Suomi, 73, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 3rd, at Autumn Village Nursing Center where she resided the last four years. She was the loving wife of Robert J. Suomi who predeceased her in 1990. She is survived by her only daughter, Lydia Borenstein and her husband, Jeffrey. She also leaves behind her pride and joy: four grandchildren, Mark, Elaine, Sandra and Samuel. She also leaves a brotherly cousin, Peter Halko, who lives in Colorado with his wife, Doris.

She was born May 1, 1934 in Springfield, VT to William and Lillian Kangas. After graduating from Black River High School in Ludlow, VT, she attended Becker College in Worcester. She moved to Boston where she married and raised her family. She was very proud to have worked as a technical secretary for Stone & Webster Engineering for many years. There, she developed friendships that would last her a lifetime. Once in Worcester, she lived at Marble St. Apartments for eight years where she also met many caring people.

Priscilla was very proud of her Finnish heritage. She was a talented accordion player in her youth and enjoyed playing for Finn dances in Vermont. She enjoyed any type of handwork and mostly was happiest to make special items for loved ones.

The family would like to thank the caring staff of St. Vincent's Hospital (33 South and 34 North) and Autumn Village for helping Priscilla maintain her dignity until the end. Priscilla had a love of people and was very special to all who knew her.

Funeral services will be held at 10 AM ON MONDAY, APRIL 7th in Perlman Funeral Home, 1026 Main St. Interment will be held at 12:15 PM in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park in Peabody.

The family is receiving visitors from 4PM to 7PM on Monday, April 7th and Tuesday, April 8th at the residence of Lydia and Jeff Borenstein, 7 Hartshorn Ave., followed each evening with services at 7:30 PM at Beth Israel Synagogue on Jamesbury Drive.
