Edward Nelson Obituary

Edward E. Nelson, Sr., 89, died Monday, April 21, 2008, in the Blaire House of Worcester. His wife, Elizabeth (Krause) Nelson, died in 1989. He leaves 3 sons, Edward E. Nelson, Jr., of Foster, RI; Eric S. Nelson and his wife Sue of New Braintree; and Karl A. Nelson and his wife Cheryl of Boylston; 3 daughters, Karen A. Richardson and her husband Bud of Rochdale; Joan E. Bostock and her husband Lincoln of Leicester; and Martha E. Hidenfelter and her husband Dennis of Worcester; 12 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by 1 brother and 2 sisters. Edward was born in Worcester, son of Walter T. and Cora D. (Grout) Nelson. He was a Worcester firefighter for 20 years with Ladder 2 and various other companies. He was a Sergeant in the Army during WWII. He was a tank commander and fought in several campaigns including the Battle of the Bulge. He was a Purple Heart recipient. He was a member of the Singletary Rod & Gun Club. He loved hunting and fishing and was an avid bird watcher.

A graveside service will be held in Pine Grove Cemetery, Boylston at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Firefighter's Fund of Worcester Local 1009, 625 Chandler St., Worcester MA 01602. Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln St., Worcester is directing arrangements.

Dear Karen, Eddy, Joan, Eric, Karl and Martha, We, Sandie Krause Buteau and George ( Bernie ) Krause Jr. are so very sad and sorry to hear of the lost of your Father ( Uncle Ted). All of you will be in our thoughts and prayers. The loss of someone so dear is difficult to bear. I share your grief, as I lost my beloved husband of 31 years, 13 years ago, and most recentlly my brother Albert in December 2007, and now Bernie passed on the 19th of April 2008. My heart goes out to you at this time and the days ahead. I remember many fun times spent with Uncle Ted and Aunt Betty and all of you. Fondly , Sandie Krause Buteau and my beloved twin brother Bernie ( George ) Krause I moved to Maine a little over 2 years ago, from Sutton, Mass. to spend my mature years with my beloved twin brother Bernie. The good Lord gave us two years to be together.
