Bernice Power Obituary

Bernice "Bernie" Retta Power, 88, of Worcester, died Monday, July 7th in the Life Care Center of Auburn.

She leaves her brother, Robert F. Power of Cherry Valley; her sister, Charlotte M. Curran Scavone of Auburn; eight nephews and nieces, Charlene Walsh of Vienna, VA and Falmouth, Roberta Tyburski of Charlton, Francis Power of Worcester, Michelle Giroux of Spencer, Bernadette Curran of Epping, NH, Jay Curran of Duxbury, Robert Power of Spencer and Christopher Power of Cherry Valley; and fifteen grandnephews and grandnieces. Her brother, Francis E. Power and her sister, Dorothea Power predeceased her.

She was born in Worcester the daughter of Frank W. and Mae R. (Quinlan) Power and was a graduate of Classical High School. Ms. Power was employed by Wyman-Gordon for 30 years as a secretary to the CEO and Chairman of the Board. She was a member of Christ the King Church. During her retirement, Bernice enjoyed trips to the beach and shopping excursions with her sister, having lively discussions on politics with neighbors and lunching with dear friends. In her later years, one of her favorite pastimes was shopping for friends and family on QVC. More than anything, Bernice loved to spend time with her family. She will be missed dearly. Bernice's family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the entire staff of Gardenia Court at the Life Care Center of Auburn, for their impeccable treatment and endless compassion during Bernice's time in their care.

The funeral is Friday, July 11th from O'CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a Mass at 10:00 AM in Christ the King Church, 1052 Pleasant Street. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. Calling hours are Thursday, July 10th from 4:00 until 7:00 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Life Care Center of Auburn, Activities Department, 14 Masonic Circle, Auburn, MA 01501.
