Kevin Kelley Obituary

Kevin M. Kelley, 41, formerly of Shrewsbury, passed away Monday, August 4, 2008 at home after a courageous year long battle with brain cancer. He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Melissa J. (Purretta) Kelley; their two daughters: Shauna (10) and Erica (7); his mother, Eleanor A. (Belanger) Kelley of Shrewsbury; his mother-in-law, Gisele Purretta; two sisters: Nancy McLaughlin and Pat Tranter and her husband Bruce, both of Worcester; and one brother, John Kelley and his wife Kathleen of San Jose CA; his aunt, Anna Carlson of Grafton and several cousins, nieces and nephews. Kevin was born February 6, 1967 in Worcester, the son of the late John B. Kelley (1989) of Shrewsbury and has lived in Grafton for 11 years. Kevin graduated from Shrewsbury High School in 1985 and then from Worcester State College in 1989 with his degree in business management. He then went on and earned certification as a CPA in 1996. Kevin worked 17 years for The US Treasury Department specializing in international taxation. A loving and dedicated father, husband and friend, Kevin will be missed by the many people whose lives he touched. He was a parishioner of St. James Church in South Grafton, an avid sports fan who enjoyed playing golf, basketball and hockey and he was perhaps the biggest Bruce Springsteen fan in Massachusetts. All are invited to calling hours for Kevin Tuesday, August 5th from 4 to 8 pm in Roney Funeral Home North Chapel, 152 Worcester St. (Rt. 140 & 122) in North Grafton. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated for Kevin Wednesday, August 6th at 10:30 am in St. James Roman Catholic Church, 89 Main St. (Rt. 122A) in South Grafton. All attending the Funeral Mass Wednesday are respectfully requested to go directly to the church rather than the funeral home. He will then be laid to rest in St. Philips Cemetery on Millbury St. in Grafton. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The National Brain Tumor Society, 124 Watertown St., Suite 3H, Watertown, MA 02472 or The Kelley Children Educational Fund, c/o Grafton Suburban Credit Union, 86 Worcester St., N. Grafton, MA 01536. A condolence book and directions are available at:
